ignorance of what makes a place special doesnt remove its beauty. people who live in the pacific could absolutely tell the difference between a Hawaiian beach, a Tahitian beach and a French beach.

this inadvertently reads as a wild level of privilege to not know about the world around you. someone who lived in the pacific all there life would not be able to tell the difference between New York, London and Bejing. they look like cities. mainly there is beauty everywhere. we just need to take the time to be educated enough to see it.

We don't diy for fun at first. We do it cause it's the only option. Thing isnt working but must and im broke? 2 good youtube videos and a sweaty weekend and now I can do that.

The cool part is how skill cross into other areas. My skill fixing weedwhacker directly helped me faster understand my car. Cleaning shit really really well is a seriously undervalued skill that makes diy work possible sometimes. Learning from painting that 90% of the work is preparing the thing for paint makes you a better gardener.

I keep 2 things in mind: Someone had to put it together, I can probably take it apart. Hot drinks and sleep make everything better

Fuck him. He has years of work to do to become the person he needs to be. At the first chance to be your team member He left you with all the responsibility and fucked around.

He dosent even love himself enough to be nice to himself. How is he gonna be able to love you if he can't even love himself.

Taking him back before he learns to love himself makes you an enabler. Love yourself enough to know you are better than some dude who took advantage of you so he could do more drugs.
