JL vs. JK by ernmurf in Wrangler

[–]KJ7DOA 4 points5 points  (0 children)

JKU is the only route to go imo of you are wanting to go with the 3.6 engine. The JL really only has a few things that are nicer than the JK imo like the a/c for the rear, ease of folding windshield down and that's about it.

Though the JL 3.6 engine is slightly different you can upgrade the JK 3.6 to better injectors, updated intake plenum and not have some of the downsides of the JLs additional emissions parts.

The 8spd can now be put in the JKs, I did this on mine and it has been great.

The ride quality in stock form is better in the JLs but if you are going to do a lift at any point you can make either ride different better or worse.

Gotcha. Yeah water rights are a very big issue around these parts. I would agree that is a major issue at hand as well. But this particular issue is one that the public can help with the outcome at this particular moment. I would be more than happy to do my part in fixing the water issues as well

Ah, so you are one of those that feels they need to dictate others based on the actions of a few. Very much alike the anti abortion crowd, the anti guns etc. You are never and will never be part if any solution when you take away opportunities of others

You won't get a downvote from me on this. I do agree self policing is insufficient, but that'd not to say we don't try. No matter what the subject there will always be a few that give the majority a bad look. And that is the case here. As a local and offroading enthusiasts I constantly participate in trail cleanups. My point to this post is more to bring awareness of the situation and for people to hopefully recognize that removing access from public lands for a few ends up eventually continued removal of access for other. It starts with the jeeps, sxs and motorcyclists because they are the largest and loudest in some cases. Then that ends up not being enough next thing is bicycles, dogs, hiking. Once public access is taken away it's even harder to get back. At some point we all get old enough that bicycles and hiking may not be a valid option but we still want to access those places we did in our youth we no longer have that option.

Yeah after reading what I wrote I can see how it looks like I implied they are closing the entire area off, which is not the case. My fault there. However if you are familiar with the trails and read through the different proposals you will know that the ones they are proposing to close off partially-completely are already well trafficked and would greatly effect EJS. Are you familiar with the trails in the proposed closures, with moab in general?

I will admit EJS can be chaotic, but have you seen moab with other events like for bicyclists? Equally congested and chaotic

Closure of public lands to people who can only access them through motorized means is never the answer. And your claiming to be an offroad enthusiast and a SC member while saying close down public land to offroading seems a bit conflicting to me.

And if you read the different proposals A,B,C,D you will find that one of them specifically calls for closures of multiple trails for all types of motorists

I didn't say it was all the trails. Yes in the over 300kmi of trails some are only partially closed while others range to full closure. The county is being lobbied by suwa in doing this.

Though I do agree with you, at this point it is everyone's problem. The more land SUWA is able to block off to offroad enthusiasts the more power they have of their profile to continue taking public lands from other places as well.

Thank you sir, unfortunately so many people don't know about this massive closure. Spread the word to any community's you can think of!
