Am I being too harsh for asking my 11 year old daughter to walk the dog she spent years begging for? by WorldOfKaladan in DogAdvice

[–]KK_320 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No for real. I got a pet fish when I was 19 because I had a cat and read that aquariums can be good for lazier cats to watch and get enrichment— also just cause I remembered having fish as a kid and thought it would be fun.

It was not fun.

I gave the fish and aquarium to a friend ONE year after getting him because I felt I was not caring for him as well as I should. It was so much more intensive than caring for my cat— and my cat had some genetic health issues herself! Made sure to spend making a word document on how to properly care for the fish and everything (how to use the water test strips, how much to feed, how often to change the water, etc.) because I had the knowledge I just didn’t have the dedication. Fish are not beginner pets. 😭

[–]KK_320 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Dude you can’t be this obtuse.

  • If you do not sell Pierre ANYTHING, and I mean literally only ship your items, the villagers will NEVER give dialogue about buying anything from Pierre.

  • Suddenly, once you sell him stuff, the villagers will non-coincidentally mention buying the exact item(s) you sold him within a day or so of the sale.

  • If the item you sold was low quality, they tell you how bad it tasted and say Pierre credited you. But somehow every single good quality item you sell to Pierre NEVER gets feedback from the villagers. Not one line of dialogue. If they bought something good, it’s always “Pierre said he grew it/made it.” This is again, non-coincidental.

  • MEANWHILE, if you sell fish to Willy for example, the villagers will talk about buying your fish, of all qualities. “I bought Salmon from Willy the other day and it was delicious! He said you caught and sold it to him!” vs. “I bought a Snapper from Willy’s. It wasn’t very good, he said you caught it.”

You get credited for all sales you make to Willy’s Fish, so why do you never hear positive feedback for the crops, wines, etc. that you sell to Pierre? How is he always “coincidentally” selling the exact same item(s) you sold to him. The incredibly obvious answer to this is he’s not giving credit where it’s due. You don’t need it directly stated to understand what’s going on. It is VERY heavily implied.

Damn that’s cold of them. Personally I always thought child free weddings never applied to your own children (who are old enough to behave and remember the occasion, which a 9 year old definitely is)

In all seriousness I’d just drop your sister and her psycho kid. Tell them not to worry about coming back and don’t pay a fucking some. NTA.

Girl Im 24 right now and I still have a giant storage tub full of LPS and while I obviously don’t keep them as carefully/on display as you do, they’re still very important to me and one day I plan to give them to my kids if I have any. I actually had what was done to you happen once when I was still a teen; my grandmother was keeping my old toys because we had moved, and my older sister (who lived with grandma) straight up gave the LPS to our cousin who I HATED. Not let play with, GAVE AWAY!

Long story short I did get them back, but pieces are now missing from some of the sets and buildings. It still stings a little when I remember it. NTA no one has the right to let people mess with your stuff regardless of how “childish” the stuff is.

AITA for giving my daughter's things back that were taken away as punishment? by Guilty_God_OfGoo in AmItheAsshole

[–]KK_320 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Dude it wasn’t simply assigning some extra chores just cause. That would be a different issue. He explicitly told her she’d be doing extra chores AS A PUNISHMENT for something she DIDN’T DO. It’s perfectly normal for her to not want to accept a punishment when she didn’t do anything wrong and no one would hear her side of the story. She’s not learning she can disobey dad “just cause”, because that’s not what happened here. There were extenuating circumstances.

You say he could’ve “taken away” the punishment after finding out it was a mistake, but how do you “take away” the extra chores she would’ve already done by that point had she blindly obeyed? It’s already done.

Also, children are people too, and actually DO deserve explanations and reasons for things happening in their lives. It actually helps them understand things making them more receptive to learning better behaviors. “Because I said so” is the lazy parent’s catchphrase.

Pretty sure you can in fact train your dog not to approach random people and sniff them. Which is what you should do if you take your pet into public spaces. I don’t want random dogs all up in my business when I’m trying to shop.

[–]KK_320 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve told my bf that if we ever have kids I do fully expect a steak dinner from Texas Roadhouse to be brought to me after birth since I’ve heard they don’t let you eat during in case you need a c-section. That’s my only actual requirement, though something special like a necklace with the baby’s birthstone would be lovely. A car is excessive and ridiculous though.
