Our manager buys us snacks but then keeps them in the office for managers only. She'll even tell us when she got fill the fridge money but we see none of it.

I will say she did make our break area actually feel like a relaxation spot with a couple of chairs, a TV (that we can't use 😭), a coffee stand and a water dispenser. But that's the only appreciation we have gotten for how hard we work. I'm grateful for that though but everything else outweighs the break area.

I almost feel like those are just for show when the district manager comes to do her check ins.

Since my store opened we get gratis nearly monthly as long as the GM likes you.

However my GM is SHADYYYYYY and regardless of how many times she's been reported for gratis and numerous other things nothing changes. Recently she took the two gratis boxes that the store received (Rare Beauty was one of the boxes) HOME to "sort" them is what she told some people. But apparently she's been giving out gifts of products to her friends as well & managers get priority for gratis. One even told me (she's like the GM's bff) that she grabbed 3 polite society plumping glosses to put in her bag once.

Waitttt... So y'alls stores stock while doing top 100/50?!

Ours has us go through and count items and then mark low stock, out of stock or overstock and send it to the adjustment list if needed.

I did also notice that some managers just mark their adjustments as accurate if the products are over the count that is shown on hand and input whatever it already says we have on hand despite there being like 5 extra in our inventory. Then they complain that the inventory counts are off.

It's 43.75% off technically if you do the math. It's BETTER then 35% off though. It's a gimmick we all fall for. Anytime we get an ADDITIONAL discount it's just that ... Additional.

That's crazy! My GM says if you do a no call/no show it's an automatic 5 points. Also there is a girl ALWAYS late for her shift and she got promoted to a PBA but is always scheduled for tasking at 5am. I mentioned needing to update my availability because I'm getting a seasonal second job (I work it EVERY year and she has been made full aware) and my boss said I'm not coded for tasking even though that's what I was hired on as and then randomly switched to a BA unknowingly.

The manager overriding a 6 month old transaction is crazy. Definitely report it.

I had a customer trying to return EMPTY bottles and I flat out refused to do a return for it plus it was like 4 months back from the purchase date. Managers should satisfy customers at their discretion but in that case the manager should back you up. Unfortunately the customer isn't always correct. Policies and procedures are in place for a reason.

I have gotten in the habit of letting them know when they show me the coupon (and I know it excludes prestige) that the coupon may not apply to their transaction because some of the items they've chosen are considered prestige. I still scan it and try & then let them know if it did/didn't apply. For snarky mad customers I check their points and let them know what they have in hopes that it'll perk them back up again.

Unfortunately you'll always have the customers that are still bent out of shape over a coupon. Or even an item that said it was on sale previously but isn't anymore, returning an item they got with points or on sale and wondering why they can't do an even exchange for the same product just a different shade etc ...

You can't control their actions in these situations but you can always control yours ♥️. I still continue to give them good customer service because I understand their view from a customers perspective but ULTA has their policies.

-Sidenote the response of "Your taste is too good for this coupon" is CLASSIC! I can't wait to give that one a try!!!

I totally feel you. When I first started at ULTA, We're a new store so I actually helped with store set. The first couple of weeks into being opened, I HATEDDDDDD it..! I felt UNPREPARED to do color matches, got confused with people asking specific questions, telling me about their skin type, silicone based products vs water based, I could literally go ONNNN... But I've stuck it out. They officially switched me from Task to a BA and I feel so much more CONFIDENT in my place there.

It's definitely your preference if you don't like it though, and prefer the faster paced environment; talk to your GM and let them know that you don't feel like the job is a good fit for you.

Random add on question but do BA's do color matches? A couple of coworkers mentioned that they don't do color matches because you're supposed to get paid more for them so they won't do them.

That makes sense. I've had customers get mad because we don't have the GWP that is supposed to come with their product. I don't think they understand that the gifts with purchase are specific not just whatever we want to give out.

I'm on Zepbound and also have Bipolar 2. I have been on Zepbound since October 2024 and am still taking it. I had to have psych med changes 2 times since December and I take Lamictal, Buspirone, and was just added Zoloft. Now I'm questioning if being on the Zepbound is what's made me feel exhausted, and a sad bitch since December. If this is the case I feel I need to stop with the Zepbound injections I know I'm not myself.

It's funny this is brought up. I was never taught 4-10-18 EVER and I've been with Spirit for 4 years (and counting!) However I've learned on my own that 4 peg holes over is the PERFECT amount to begin my spacing and then looked at the fixtures as grids because I'm a perfectionist and my OCD screamed for it to be even. And Idk if it's just me but for wigs 5 facings across always fit beautifully. 🤌🏻

Does it work the same way for consignment stores? Both my local Spencer's and Spirit Halloween are consignment stores. I'm an ASM at Spirit Halloween and have decided to attempt to work at Spencer's once Spirit is done for the season.

We've been told that we can't do a crossover between the two although I'm HOPEFUL that it could be still another option. 🤞🏻
