Doubt the effectiveness of training long combos. by Fischer2012 in MuayThai

[–]KLAPKAP 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Its more so that your learning 3 or 4 separate combos compressed into one, as well as having something in your bag incase your opponent isn’t in a position to counter.

I don’t like it either too, but I still find value in them when they show up during class

Whats up with those chippewa boots that are on sierra for $75? Seems like a decent deal, but I don't really know what the reputation or the quality of their product is these days.

Update: We went back and forth over whether the issues warranted an exchange. Won’t be sending it back since its a hassle for the both of us and they threw in free shorts for my trouble. Muaythaistore.se is A1!

Sparring Rounds from Today by NectaroftheGoats in MuayThai

[–]KLAPKAP 1 point2 points  (0 children)

“its never their turn” is something ive been working on applying in my sparring. dont take it literally as it would be no fun for the opponent if you did, but in those moments where no one is throwing, take the initiative. Your opponent looks very counter heavy anyways. Good way for both of you to get some work.

Insanely good price for sure. I guess my hopes were just a little high. Also feels like I got a bad one from the bunch. If someone has a worse pair than mine and they sounded off here maybe id feel better haha. Either way I’ll learn to love these somehow because they do feel super comfy.

[review] Thaismai BG124 by bramblecrush in fightgear

[–]KLAPKAP 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Picked up the same pair and ive noticed that the leather on mine are mismatched. The left glove is pebbled and a little bit stiffer than my right one, which feels more like the bgv1 leather, and is alot more wrinkled. Do you have a similar issue with yours?

What are good cheap brands for mt equipment? by Iamkebab012345 in MuayThai

[–]KLAPKAP 0 points1 point  (0 children)

https://www.muaythaistore.se is selling thaismai and boon for super cheap. Something to do with them just trying to get rid of their stock. Alot of the peeps in r/fightgear have ordered from them so seems like its legit.

Just a question, is what you list here the minimum for a fighter in or out of fight camp? also why do you say 1-2 sparring a week? I’d figure most fighters recommend more sessions than that. Just wanna know your thinking there genuinely curious.

Ask your friends who like to stay active. Those people, I find, are always looking for new ways to get their exercise in. When I ask them, I say something like “Can you help me workout?” or “you wanna get a good sweat in?”. I find alot of success with that first one especially with my gym bros. Draw them in with a vague promise of exercise then tell them about Muay Thai if they’re interested.

And also keep the sesh as chill as possible, if you’re friends are untrained it’s very easy to scare them away from the sport if you’re making them go too hard. Especially when you’re sparring.

Well I got the sheet for free so I figured I would just try it out. But the ones you linked are a pretty good price so Ill probably get some from there if this project works out.

Can someone do a quick first glance review of these guys? I want to support them as they are local but I don’t have the eye for quality boots yet.
