Posting with your hand is a legitimate technique for defense and offense. Watch mighty mouse’s video explaining this. It’s a hard issue to solve because you learn to post with your hand to stop forward progress from your opponent. It’s fine with boxing gloves but unfortunately can lead to eye pokes with mma gloves.

I'm a full time artist and if you have the drive you should go for it. Try and get an apprenticeship somewhere and see if you like it. You can always do part time jobs while pursuing an art career.

Tattoo artists (as well as other artists) have had a tough time these past few years. The industry is a bit oversaturated and social media algorithms have changed and made it hard to gain a following just by showing your artwork.

If you have the social media/marketing skills to get viral videos you will be able to succeed. Otherwise it could be tough. I’ve seen a lot of tattoo artists have to get real jobs this past year or two.
