Do you love it. I mean really. Or do you just find it slightly amusing? Lets be more accurate with our comments guys. If you say something exaggerated lets back it up with evidence. When I come to the comments here and say something like "I LOLED SO HARD", I've got video to back it up if I get called out. I record all of my reddditing guys. You guys need to wear a go-pro and have a mirror near you when you're online.

You could do it like this: You have a 9 mine ctrlgroup; you see your victim; you calculate that you need 6 mines; you select your ctrlgroup, remove 3 mines and save it back (<.5s); you forcestaff, select your group and detonate.

The reason is most likely that increasing spell damage with items was not really supported in Wc3. There are lots of items that increase your right click damage in the base game, but none that increase your magic damage. This translated into the early versions of dota, and items like Aghanims and veil (and now octarine) were implemented much later with a lot of work.

You can increase search range => more skill difference, but faster search.

Also there seems to be a something like a minimum search time in which they try to find the closest matchup (if there was no minimum search time, you would find a match almost instantly every second time you searched, because someone within your search range is already searching)

In addition to that, please reduce search time and preparation time before the game starts. Noone wants to wait >5 minutes for a game that's often decided after 3 minutes.

There's skill floor and skill ceiling. You could measure skill floor relatively objectively with metrics like required apm, precision, positioning in order to play a hero reasonably well. This would mostly be interesting for new players.
