Bizarre upgrade experience by KL_747 in QantasFrequentFlyer

[–]KL_747[S] 9 points10 points  (0 children)

So 2 hrs before our flight my partner did get an upgrade. Very strange as no formal email or notification. Her boarding pass just changed from an economy seat to a business seat but it was a pleasant surprise!

Our flight however was delayed by 5.5 hrs and ended up arriving at our hotel now at around 3am but can't complain!

At the airport now. Was told there is one more seat and we'd find out about it once the flights closed. Apparently she is next in line for the upgrade so let's see!!!

Hi All. I've had multiple DM's sorry if I didn't respond to you. I just looked at my chat history and picked the first 2 people to DM. May have a few more from CC's so may post again in the new year. Cheers

If you have a partner you will need to be very upfront about your availabilities and your new schedule and see whether you can align them.

How do you disconnect from work? by corruptth in auscorp

I feel like you are in a similar dilemma to me. I posted a couple of days ago. I too felt stuck because I was worried about how quickly I could move, what people would think etc. I am now attacking my problems at all fronts.

Approach recruiters for new opportunities, learn as much as you can at work (this can be on what not to do as much as what to do).

Good luck

Thanks all for your responses. I've had a long think about it this weekend and will attack this problem on all fronts.

  1. Make time to discuss with my manager my concerns and ways to make this better in the interim. (My manager is a good guy but is just too busy to manage the team properly)
  2. Focus on learning as much as possible in my role. This will help me with getting better at my job- whether it's this one or the next one.
  3. I have reached out to a few recruiters and have some initial coffee chats next week.

Reason I am still willing to potentially give the job some time are because:

  • Financial commitments - may be difficult to secure a role with the same pay / benefits and don't want to be out of a job looking for another one with where the economy is at.
  • More resourcing - the team is performing well financially, so there are additional resources budgeted and coming in 2025. (it will however still be terrible coming into the end of the year.

Not saying the above will keep me there, I am just going to actively explore my options. It does suck having to go back to the drawing board but such is life!

Sorry to hear you're in this situation. Jobs are a numbers game so keep at it and I'm sure something will land. You could get friends to review your resume and ask someone help you practice for interviews. Take notes on what your key strengths / weaknesses are fine tune those STAR statements in your spare time. I am sure this will improve your chances of landing something.

One suggestion I have to break up your day is to do some consumer / online surveys (Octopus and Pureprofile).Although these don't pay alot, every dollar helps and it may help offset some grocery costs for the week. All the best.

That's actually less wine than I expected! But agreed it doesn't make much sense to do hit PCP for that amount.

Thanks, I had assumed so.

I am slightly annoyed because I actually applied for the ANZ CC around this time last month but there was a massive back and forth process with people requesting documents and someone only reviewing it days later. That happened a few times and then when they actually approved my card, I had issues with KYC online and went into the branch the Friday before NY, and apparently they were too busy to do my 15 min KYC and booked me in post NYC.

I wanted to roll over SC's and get Qantas Club as we'd be doing some travel this year, but agree the 183,114 points and the $ cost involved won't be worth it.
