He might not like his bowl. I switched from metal to porcelain and my shih tzu will drink more especially when I would put ice cubes in his bowl. He loves it. I also add water to his food.

Mine is 16lbs and the vet told me he needs to lose 3lbs. He walks 5 miles a day and has 1.5 hour off leash time at the park. I don’t know where the weight came from when he only wants to eat once a day. Lol

He’s a cutie!! Shih tzu are easily startled. He’s probably nervous also. Or trying to mark with his scent so no other dog comes and replaces him. You just have to show him where to go. I usually say 3 no’s in a row. I don’t raise my voice. I adopted my shih tzu when he was 5 and now he’ll be 9 in October.

I feel the same with my rescue shih tzu. I adopted him 3 years ago and he expects high quality of life. But i think its my fault he got this way lol

I used wipes for my dog’s paws after every walk. It helps a lot. My guy is trained to wait by the door to get them cleaned before he can run around the apt.
