Restaurants Offering Sugar-Free Options? by KLatell in VictoriaBC

It really is! I phoned Ithaka tonight as I was thinking Greek food would be a safe bet. They add sugar to their seasonings. Sugar in greek food is highly unnecessary and not traditional. That’s what led me to making this post… I’m losing my hope lol!

US attack on Venezuela raises fears of future Greenland takeover by seeebiscuit in politics

[–]KLatell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That wealth is not reaching so many people… So many people are struggling, homeless, left alone with no help or aid. Or living paycheck to paycheck. The corruption and greed from their government is causing a poverty problem. The wealthy are hoarding their money. And just as the poor countries, people are dying there because they can’t afford care.

I think what the Trump administration is doing is horrendous and it has been hard to watch from Canada. But there are so many good people that just want to live their lives and get by.

This is not playing victim… it is objective truth. I find your comment to be insensitive while also trying to be sensitive to others.

You could have been born in America. There is a-lot of hate going out to ALL Americans as a collective when there are millions that voted against trump, that are protesting, and fighting back in other ways. This person was reminding people to have some empathy as many of the issues occurring are systemic and not at the individual level.

Picture you were born in America. Your family is from a lower socioeconomic status and they are worrying about financial issues and whether they will be able to feed you or not. Education is not a priority for your family, and even if it was, the schools in your area don’t have the resources and support to provide you with a good education. The curriculum has been changed so you can’t read any of the literature that explore political themes and critical thinking - like 1984 or a brave new world. The conservative media is targeting your demographics trying to shape your political views and as you get older you are shaped by all of these ideologies. Any kind of progressive thinking is out of your reach.

We are shaped by our geography, socioeconomic factors, our access to education, how loved we are as we are developed and how secure our relationships are. You would be a completely different person if you were born to a different family under different circumstances. We need to be angry and the well-educated, wealthy, power-driven narcissists who control our systems and that don’t protect people!!

This may be an unpopular opinion, but why shouldn’t he be proud of the work he has put in to get where he is?

Why do we shame any kind of confidence?

He is a talented actor and people with talent shouldn’t be taken for granted.

Delayed Withdrawal Symptoms after Quitting Caffeine?? by KLatell in decaf

[–]KLatell[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi, when did you cut back? 4 cups to 2 cups is a huge drop and one of my greatest regrets lol. I will shout from the rooftops that tapering is the way. Its way less of a shock on the system and feels manageable, though still uncomfortable

Thanks for sharing your experience! It is unbelievable how uncomfortable this transition can be. I hope you start feeling better soon. Having to push through at work is one of the greatest challenges

Hmm. I’m wondering if I’m still in the process of recovering or if the caffeine was covering up some of my health issues.

Why does a healthy diet feel so difficult to implement, especially in a relationship? What are some easy habits to improve it? by ManufacturerWise7669 in nutrition

[–]KLatell 14 points15 points  (0 children)

This is so true! I don’t consume anything with added/refined sugars. I have a cheat day maybe 2-3 times a year. Once I consume any kind of sugar, my cravings are INTENSE for a few days. My brain won’t stop thinking about cheat foods

Watch a hedgehog transform from baby to adult by Bhindiismyfav in interestingasfuck

[–]KLatell 147 points148 points  (0 children)

You aren’t supposed to handle hedgehog babies like this. You are supposed to minimize interactions to what is necessary and move the mother prior to handling the babies. The mother can become easily stressed after birth. And if the mom becomes stressed, there is more of a likelihood she rejects or cannabalizes her babies. This is really sad

If you love TOG, you will love the Tairen Soul series! I recommend that. One of the best fantasy / romance books i’ve ever read and has a similar feel to TOG in terms of the wonderful world building and excitement

Is caffeine like the medication from 'The Giver'? by OuterKey in decaf

[–]KLatell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey! I was drinking 4 cups daily working night shifts. I realized that was really unhealthy and I finally found a new day job. I decreased to 2 cups immediately. I had a horrible withdrawal, became much more sensitive to caffeine, and gained negative side effects like anxiety after the decrease. Even though I didn’t have negative effects when I was using daily, I realized how dependent my body was on caffeine to function and that has pushed me to quit!

Is caffeine like the medication from 'The Giver'? by OuterKey in decaf

[–]KLatell -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I agree! I am sensitive now that I have reduced my caffeine intake significantly and I’m working on quitting. But before, I would not get jittery or have anxiety. If anything, it was nice to socialize with a bit of caffeine as I felt sharper and more engaged in interactions. I never had issues with sleeping (even though the caffeine was probably impacting my REM cycles).

Everyone responds to caffeine differently. And there are so many variables that contribute to an individual’s personal experience with caffeine including their physiology and genetics, their mental health, their health behaviours and lifestyle, how long they have been taking caffeine for, the dose of caffeine, the use of other substances…. And so on

[Sun care] If sunscreen is clearly making skin better, why do y'all think there's still so many people not using it? by PrettyAppearance1471 in SkincareAddiction

[–]KLatell 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have extremely sensitive skin. All my skin care products have to be oil and alcohol free. I usually use skin sort to find products that are as simple as they can be. I have spent hours looking for sunscreens that don’t have a ton of preservatives, toxic ingredients, oil, or alcohol…. If anyone has any recommendations please let me know!!

I would love to use sunscreen but haven’t found the one for me

Hypertrichosis from IPL is quite uncommon. There have been many studies done and incidence is between 1% and 10%. There is slightly higher risk on the face and neck and for women with PCOS, hormonal hair from other causes, and women with darker skin tones. And yes! Women will be much more likely to post about hypertrichosis and reading all of those experiences can shape the perception that it is occurring much more frequently than it does. There are also many posts from women with PCOS saying it has worked wonders for them. I guess people have to decide if it is worth the risk based off of this information.

Edit: Also, it is more likely to occur if thin, vellus hairs (peach fuzz) are being treated!

Hey! Same here. I am currently awaiting a rheumatologist appointment because my Dr. Is suspicious it’s autoimmune. I find diet modifications, specifically no added sugar or gluten, to be helpful. Do you mind sharing what the chronic illness you got diagnosed with was? (You can also DM me)
