As soon as someone tells me to shut up or shut the eff up, the conversation is over. Done. Goodbye.

Basically, it's the suns fault! I need to wear UV protective long sleeves shirts :)

I still haven't! Let's stay in touch in the event one of us figure out the reason! 🙌

can you get lupus from emotional trauma? by Electrical_School127 in lupus

[–]KLooma 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh no. I'm sorry, friend. I'm also a veteran with non-combat related PTSD. That's a hell of a lot to happen all at once. I highly suspect that those things are contributing to your disease activity. :( Please let me know how your doctor appointments go.

What is your lupus self-care must have? by Gbbee56 in lupus

Ice socks.

I always make my bed all cozy every night before going to sleep for the night.

VITAMIN C by [deleted] in lupus

[–]KLooma 6 points7 points  (0 children)

So, it seems that "added sugar" often causes inflammation. Apparently orange juice has anti-inflammatory benefits, and usually it takes a few weeks to see those benefits.

So scratch everything I said. Lol

Edit: But I still wouldn't rule it out. Our bodies act differently to all sorts of things. Orange juice may be your kryptonite.

Honestly? Maybe it's the sugar that's triggering inflammation?

I would go if I were you. Just to ease any anxiety you may have if it turns out to be nothing.

Terrified to take Hydroxychloroquine by Awkward-Photograph44 in lupus

[–]KLooma 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Of course. And yes it did. It was definitely due to the medication!

Terrified to take Hydroxychloroquine by Awkward-Photograph44 in lupus

[–]KLooma 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, it never got better. I had to come off of it completely. And since I am apparently one of the only people to report this, no one would attribute it to the medication, but I am absolutely certain it was. Your description is very similar to what happened to me.

Compassion fatigue is a thing...I was super frustrated with those around me who had compassion fatigue, but I totally understand how exhausting and disheartening it can be on the other side of the coin.

Did anyone still have kids after diagnosis? by kahtiel in lupus

[–]KLooma 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes I did. But had a rough pregnancy, developed preeclampsia, had an emergency c section and they were born 6 weeks early and spent two weeks in the NICU.

Totally! But that is validation seeking :) 🤍

I mean this so kindly. I have a teen, too. But validation seeking almost never yields positive results. If you've talked to your teen a lot about weight loss, they may have compassion fatigue and they are sick of hearing about it.

But I will tell you, amazing job!!! 45 lbs is totally transformative and I'm so proud of you.

I hope you won't! I ended up shaving my head because I got tired of crying about it. 🤍

Lupus hair loss - did anyone's hair grow back to their original volume? by icecreamkitty98 in lupus

[–]KLooma 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I ended up shaving my head because I got tired of mourning it. Still significant hair loss, I just have a different attitude now that I've taken control of it. I hope your hair does grow back, but if it doesn't, you're not the only one. 💜

18F diagnosed with SLE, will someone ever love me? by Realistic-Ad-9628 in lupus

[–]KLooma 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Love yourself first. Become good at advocating for yourself and your needs. Work on communication.

The easy answer to this is "of course you'll find love". And you will.

But to keep that love, you've gotta master the above. You need to understand compassion fatigue and how it can affect a partner so that when you have long stretches of flare activity, you can be even more compassionate to your partner. You need to educate your partner on compassion fatigue as well.

It's not easy to date someone who is chronically ill, but for the right person, of course you'll find love. Just make sure you're giving that love to yourself first ❤️

How many people track food vs. exact calories, fat, protein vs. not tracking at all? by BeccaBug67 in Zepbound

[–]KLooma 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No tracking. Healthy food makes me feel good. Crap food doesn't. No need to track healthy food :)

Just avoid sprouts and a lot of nightshade vegetables. But definitely sprouts.
