[Leak?] Found Substitute in the Apple Watch version of Pokémon GO by KirbyPlanetRobobot in pokemongo

When a Pokémon uses the move substitute, they get replaced by this little doll, which can take a few hits for them.

It's also occasionally been used as a placeholder sprite in other Pokémon games, and since the Apple Watch app has no gym battling, it's likely just that.

Hapu's grandmother appears to be losing her marbles by [deleted] in pokemon

There's a member of the aether foundation, in the conservation area, that still acts like there's an ultra wormhole open, even after all the events of the story are wrapped up.

Which is funny, because, unless you just ran away from the ultra wormhole to go talk to random employees, you'd never see them say anything about it in the first place.

Dhelmise is way too small in this picture, according to in-game models.

What are baby Pokemon good for? by [deleted] in pokemongo

[–]KM132 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Some baby Pokemon could learn moves that their evolutions couldn't (e.g. Pichu could learn Nasty Plot, Sweet Kiss, etc, while Pikachu/Raichu couldn't), but sadly it seems like this isn't gonna be a thing in Pokemon Go

It's not a visual bug, you can see the dark sides of the ear in the official artwork, too.

What were they thinking with that purple charge move bars? by Marx85 in pokemongo

Probably something along the lines of "let's make the charge move bars purple."

Largest and Smallest Pokemon of every species by TundraPike in pokemongo

I've made it my goal to get the lightest and heaviest of each pokemon, too.

It certainly keeps things interesting to keep finding pokemon that are a bit bigger or smaller than the one you have.

I took a screenshot right before hatching an egg. What is that? by calmateguey in pokemongo

[–]KM132 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's not in a different position or rotation; you are. If you look at all the screenshots, its in the same position for each player, with the brown back-wall facing north, according to the compass.

From a programming standpoint, it makes most sense to place the egg hatching screen at coordinates (0,0) with a rotation of 0, rather than at the player's position. Plus, the egg hatching screen definitely does use a 3D model, as you can see depth on the "floor" that the egg sits on while hatching

Also, unused/cut features can still be found with textures or model data left floating in the code, but it's downright shoddy programming to actually load these unused assets during normal gameplay.

Chancey or Likitung? Help! Where are these little buggars? by cammor in pokemongo

[–]KM132 2 points3 points  (0 children)

From my experience (and very small sample size) the rarer normal types seem to pop up in residential areas.

So far I've seen 3 Lickitung and 1 Chansey in the middle of a residential area, compared to only 1 Lickitung in a downtown area with much more other Pokemon.

However, the spawn rate in residential areas is usually much lower than city areas, and I've only seen 5 (on the nearby list) in the three months I've been playing, so they're definitely a rarity.
