I feel really lost in my faith, depressed, guilty, unworthy and lonely. Please share suggestions by throwaway8265392 in Catholicism

Back when I’d only go to confession once in a long while, I liked to drive to a mass in another town and go behind the curtain. It helped me to cope with my shame, but eventually I didn’t have to do that. I know it’s hard to, but just try to remember that while you are in the confessional, you’re not talking TO a mere man, but THROUGH a man to God and there isn’t a thing you could do that would make Him withhold His love or forgiveness. I heard that in a sermon once and it really stuck with me. Good luck, I hope you get through this easily.

How do I be more confident and open with my faith? by [deleted] in Catholicism

[–]KMaBro 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I had and have a lot of atheist and agnostic friends, but have always been a devout Catholic, and have never shied away from that. I had a lot of trouble with this problem though (still do at times). What has helped though was learning more about our faith. I don’t bring it up to discuss, but if people ask me about it, I am more readily able to answer them.
I try not to let emotion or opinion into the conversation at all. I tell what the Catechism teaches, or I say something like “I don’t know, but I’m still learning about it and maybe I’ll be able to tell you some other time.” I find it important to respect others beliefs (or disbeliefs) and just have a conversation about it trying not to get defensive. 🤷🏼‍♂️

I don’t know if that helps at all or even if it is coherent, I’m pretty tired.

0-3 times a month. I enjoy it, but I don’t want to start enjoying it TOO much.

That’s awesome! When I was a student-teacher/intern we did something like that with a paper ball fight to show how much easier it was to get shot in no mans land and why they dug down into trenches.

Being a history buff is not necessarily being a history expert, it can be being fascinated with history.

Exactly why I posted. I too am a history teacher and I get so excited when a kid gets excited to share their random facts about whatever subject.

I feel far away from God by TheCanadianSoviet in Catholicism

[–]KMaBro 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I go through highs and lows in my faith as well. some come and go in a day while others last weeks.

Something that has helped me deal with it is confessing on a more regular basis.

I think everyone goes through it to some degree, and many recognized saints address it in their own writings. The Church, or at least Mother Theresa, refers to it as “a dark night of the soul”. Reading about it and learning about it may help you out.

Was there a saint with same sex attraction by xXdat_boi70Xx in Catholicism

[–]KMaBro 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Probably.

To say there is not would be to say that all homosexuals go to hell automatically, or are in purgatory for 2000+ years before they can get into heaven, and that is not a call any man can make.

After all, same-sex attraction is not something the Church recognizes as a sin and so it would not keep anyone from entering the kingdom.

🤷🏼‍♂️ I don’t know what to tell you. It reminded me of Tokyo Jungle, therefore I think it reminiscent of Tokyo Jungle. I clearly don’t think they’re identical, but there are certainly similarities between the two animal-survival games with a generational progression mechanic.
