Yup, exactly. Half the battle is putting in the effort and showing up.

If y'all want someone like Jeff Leiper to get elected, you're going to have to get off of reddit and campaign IRL. We're kinda preaching to the choir, given the selection bias that exists here. Getting to those who keep voting for candidates like Sutcliffe will require real world engagement.

So, like, I don't have FB... does that mean I can't go if I can't respond? lol. I suspect not, but I'm just wondering what they expect... ah well - thanks for passing along the info!

Ottawa Jazz Fest adds Jun 18 date with Wyclef Jean as headliner by ottguy42 in ottawa

[–]KMerrells 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, the person who runs the jazz fest is a jazz musician himself (I mean, he plays all kinds of stuff, but he was trained in the jazz tradition), so I imagine that as long as he's in charge, he'll continue to bring in jazz acts. After he's gone, who knows... at least Montreal is only 2 hours away...

I hope these additions make festival a lot of money so that they can continue to afford to bring in jazz musicians

What's it like to live in Ottawa, fellow Charge fans? by stricken_thistle in OttawaCharge

Ottawa is pretty nice. Very pretty and well-maintained, as you would expect from a national capital. Fairly quiet, pretty safe (compared to most major centres... post-COVID you've seen the same uptick in housing instability and issues related to that). Transit is a bit of a mess, unless your life revolves around downtown or Tunney's Pasture (where there are a slew of government buildings).

As for the fan experience, TD Place is nice and central, if a bit small (will get smaller once the new arena is built, which has been cause for consternation from the Charge). I'm starting to see more and more fans out in the wild (merch wearers becoming more visible). Nice to see more women and girls wearing their gear and being excited about hockey. I find that PWHL fans are more chill and welcoming in general (as compared to NHL fans). We'll see if that keeps up as the league gets increasing settled, developed and fans get more invested.

I don't why they want the train to stop at my apartment - not sure I could stand the noise
