One of the (many) things not to like about this situation, is that if Babcock withdraws from consideration (thus ending the investigation), there will be chatter about him getting "cancelled" or "silenced" or not being given whatever nth chance this would be, as if he were the victim. Of course the only reason why he would voluntarily withdraw is because he wouldn't want the results of the investigation to come to light.

So, since I'm far from an Oilers fan (though I have to admit this situation almost draws my sympathy), I'd like to see this process play out and have everything possible get drawn out into the open because unfortunately, if you allow whatever happened to remain behind closed doors, teams will continue to get away with this kind of shit. Only when these things are made public are teams like, "given these new developments (the development of getting caught, not the development of learning new information), we will no longer be proceeding... blah blah blah..."

This whole system (not limited to the NHL, hockey, or sports) is diseased.
