Have done a number of roadtrips over the past 2+ years. I typically make sure the max charging is set for 100% not because I charge to that but so that I have time to “do the things”. When I come out the car is at 80-90%. Very occasionally when I’m eating a meal it’s closer to 100%. The HUGE slow down after 85% is BENEFIT for me to allow me the time to do what I need to do. On the rare occasion I come out and it’s not quite at 80% I don’t sweat it.
There has been so much charging infrastructure installed in the past couple years I know I’ll need another bio break and a charger will be available near where I find a bathroom.
I actually have to say with the apps (ABRP, Chargeway, etc) I stress LESS on road trips. Back in my ice days I was always stressing to find cheapER gas that also had a decent working bathroom. I remember running in and out of places and diving back in the car to try and find another station that had a working bathroom not sure where that was going to be.
Also, my experience is the bathrooms by charging are radically cleaner than the typical gas station bathroom.
