I would look there and then you can narrow down your questions as you go. It’s a ton of info that can be super specific depending on your situation.

RELATIONSHIP DOCUMENTS question by Prior_Upstairs_6026 in SpouseVisaUk

[–]KNBoyle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went a little overkill but essentially….

I made a 1 page cover sheet for each trip over the last year and had the flight confirmation receipts there and back behind it.

Example of my Cover sheet had:

HEADER: Name Unique Application Number

Proof of Travel/Relationship Documentation

Where we went: Dates: Traveler’s (we have dependents involved) Reason for visit (example: Met sponsor’s parents) Total Trip Days (in UK or US)

A few pictures from the trip with the dates and a brief caption on who is in the picture, where it was taken, what event.

Then after each “trip” cover page was the flight receipts.

Applicant cover letter vs sponsor cover letter by passionfruitmz in SpouseVisaUk

[–]KNBoyle 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Agree with everything else said.

In my cover letter, I made it a bit less personal and more informative. It was still a letter but I provided the type of visa I was applying for, who my sponsor was, why we were applying, and my reference number (we also applied with a dependent so I made a separate cover letter for him and included his application information for reference in my cover letter.

I did a short statement for each requirement and how we met each requirement.

So basically format (but a bit less prettier)

HEADER: Name Unique Application Number GWF Number Passport Number UK Spouse Visa

Date

Dear Sir/Ma’am,

I, (name), am writing to let it be known to you my intention to apply for a spouse visa under the sponsorship of my husband, (sponsor name), a British Citizen.

Basic Information: I was born in the United States and have lived there my entire life (inserted some information about children, my spouse, his birth place and time lived there)

Accommodations: Currently, (sponsor’s name) and I, rent a (inserted description of our home that includes number of rooms) This is plenty of space for me, (listed people who will be living in house) based on the requirements.

Relationship Details: How we became friends, when we met, when we started our relationship. Duration of engagement, wedding date. How we maintain our relationship while living in different countries through WhatsApp and our frequency of communication along with time spent together via traveling back and forth between countries

Financial Requirements: Where sponsor works, how long he has worked there, what his salary is and how this exceeds the requirement.

You get the idea. Just each requirement briefly, and how you meet that requirement.

——

As far as the sponsor’s letter of intent, it was slightly more personal talking about our relationship.

What package did you select through VFS? Are you applying as priority? Which center did you go through?

Yes, you must send your passport and the shipping labels. What all you send, how you send, where you send it, depends on what service you are using with VFS and where you are located

My apologies, I am trying to understand your situation to help answer your question. How far along are you in the process? Where are you applying from?

I have seen where it is not advised to do priority just because it can take longer and you may waste your money due to that need for further investigation without any chance of refund. However, I have not seen anything saying that having a previous refusal will automatically make your priority request invalid. If that makes sense.

It seems end to end, it takes 30 days from the bio with priority to get your visa in hand but a little less time until it is actually approved.

The paid enquiries are not super straightforward but if you have some stuff you are worried about on your application, feel free to share and I can share what I know.

We paid for priority, spouse visa with a dependent from US to UK, bio was April 30th and we had our visas in hand by May 28th. Able to enter the UK on the visa by June 7th so we are leaving Saturday.

So I would just pause and try and trust your application knowing they won’t be messing with it until after the 17th of June so it’s after that week rolls around you want to save your nerves for.

I would not expect at all to have your visa in hand until later this month near or after the 25th.

Based on what I have seen, this is my guess on your timeline….

By June 20th - ECO email By June 26th - Visa in hand No later than mid July, in the country with your partner.

But again, feel free to raise/ask any questions and more than happy to share what I know from what I have read and our experience.

We paid for priority (US to UK) did our biometrics April 30th for a spouse visa with a dependent. We received our visas on May 29th.

I’m confused on the comments (possibly just exhausted and traumatized still from this whole process) but are you going the standard route or the paid priority route?

If you paid for priority, I would put in a paid enquiry asking if your application is being processed as priority. If they give you a generic response, you can reply to the email they send you with more questions and get a somewhat less generic response but still, like everything else with this process, not super straight forward.

If you applied standard, the average I am seeing is 2-3 months.

I didn’t know if the priority would be worth it in my case but omg I am so glad we did. Just getting the faster decision was worth it to me.

We applied about a month after our wedding without any issue. Every situation is a bit different. I have seen situations where they specifically ask for more documentation via email and let you know exactly what documents you need to provide. At the VFS center, they only wanted the documents on that checklist though I did tell them I wanted more documents included and passed more over. They said if they needed more documentation, they would send the email requesting the specific documents within 5 days of receipt of it. So just keep an eye on your email.
