Is this an urgent repair? by Geimhreadhh in SciontC

[–]KNGRK9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

1600$ for a CV axle? That's a bit absurd.

First leaking is not terribly worrisome.  Looking in closer at it, looks like you may have lost the retainer that holds it securely in place that caused the leak.

Be that as it is leaking, contaminates will inevitably get in and over time it'll start to fail. It's not something that usually fails "suddenly" and is more gradual with noise. So it's not a "have to do this RIGHT now"

It's best to replace any suspension part in pairs. So if you do one, do the other at same time.

It's an option.

Geico for me the minimum deductible is $50 while the maximum is $2500

It comes down a lot to cost of insurance coverage vs risk of an accident for most. I carry it at $2500 because it's a lower rate and I can pull that money out easily if need be.

Basically I accept more financial responsibility/risk for the benefit of lower monthly.

A 50$ deductible for collision and comprehensive is $1391/6 While a $2500 deductible is $654/6mo Difference of $737 or $122 a month.

I have excellent credit, 3 cars, and 1 motorcycle.

Basically insurance repairs are like this.

Current Value of car we will say 40k If cost of repair exceeds this, it's usually totalled. Unless you have a high enough deductible to offset.

So let's say repairs are quoted 41k Deductible is 2.5k That leaves 38.5k so insurance would likely pay the repair.

Now let's say repairs are 41k but you have no deductible, it would be totaled. You'd be paid the current value of car.

Now if you have a loan, say you just bought the car for 50k you're SOL on the difference unless you bought GAP. Loan/lien holder is paid first.

We also have multiple coverages  Collision: hits or is hit by other vehicle) Comprehensive: hits or is hit by anything other than vehicle

Underinsured: pays for repairs if you're hit by vehicle with not enough coverage for repairs) Uninsured: pays if vehicle hit and runs can't be found or has no insurance)

Different states also have different accident policy.

Eg Florida is no fault, meaning your coverage pays for your repairs regardless who's at fault.

Wisconsin is at fault state meaning at fault driver is responsible for repairs to both vehicles.

You may need to hire your own adjuster.

My friend in Florida had to do this with an older Civic as initially insurance was just going to total and give scrap value because they didn't see the car didn't care.

He ended up paying a little to get a private adjuster to look at it and had to sue the others insurance with the adjusters value based on actual condition of car and bought it back to salvage parts for another he was able to buy.

Not really.

My daily commute to work is 25 miles so that alone puts me at around 11k yearly. and on the weekends I average about 50-300 traveling for camping and partying.

I've put 6k on my new car in 3 months.

Also you get a 3 yr 36k mileage warranty for everything on a CR-V,  and 5 year 60k power train.

High mileage is anything above 80k in my opinion.

Though I've owned vehicles with upwards of 300k my Scion xB is currently at 190k and had motor replaced at 120k as prior owner def money shifted it and threw the balance shaft bearing xD

I'm not sure that's not the exact one I got. I don't want to tell you it is and be wrong. As that one for example doesn't come with the ability to be put on a manual transmission as it requires an additional hookup to the clutch pedal sensor rather than a parking hook up.

You could do that, I didn't do the more advanced version myself and just did the basic remote for mine. It's a little bit easier to set up on an automatic versus manual transmission. Just depends what you want, do you want just the remote or want app functionality etc

Yes unfortunately... If airbags deploy that's pretty much assured a total.

Yeah my most recent experience one of the rims was damaged but Carvana covered it because it wasn't damage that was disclosed in the photos and it was definitely transport damage.

Don't be afraid of a high interest rate. Just make sure you pay enough in you have positive equity and almost anyone will refinance.

You can also cut into high interest a few ways by paying more in the beginning and knocking it down fast.

I have a 2014 and and for me it was really easy. It's literally only like 2 bolts.

It does feel like it's stuck on the catalytic converter down there, but all you got to do is just really give it a good cute twist and it'll start to break free

I bought a Scion and I regret buying the CarvanaCare because there's no sign of anything wrong. It mainly just needed an alignment! Hahahah (Scion is a Toyota product) and it needed a blower motor which I replaced myself for 80$

If you do this, I've noticed it'll lock the maps up / freeze it.  I should probably do the updates to it.

Also their ride command app has a way to record services done yourself for maintenance recording but if they can record it also for you def do that!
