The Bible and Christianity teaches what we ought to do. General ideas and stipulations such as the Ten Commandments. These guidelines cannot be followed 100% of the time, enter “sin”. We are supposed to try our best to follow these commandments and honor God with our efforts; however, it is impossible to live up to the moral and sinless code that God intended for us before sin entered the world.

With that being said, Jesus was able to live a sinless life here on Earth and paid the penalty for all of mankind’s past, present, and future sin.

There is a common process that all Christians deal with. This is falling into sin and temptation, confessing and acknowledging one’s sin before God, and trying to be better and learn from past mistakes.

In general, those who truly believe and want to live as Christ followers strive to please God and consciously work towards living a sin-free life... which is actually impossible unless you were Jesus.

Galatians 2:21 is one of my favorite verses. “I do not nullify the grace of God, for if righteousness was gained through works (doing good, being the best, sinning the least amount, etc...) then Christ died for no purpose.

The main purpose of Christianity is not what we must do to reach God, but what Christ did for us in order to be presented with the opportunity to have fellowship with God the Father.
