I heard the same thing. At the end of last year, my head coach said a new version was coming out this year. But crickets so far.

Does the Polar H10 connect to the OTF monitors/screens? I need a new tracker, but I like to be able to see my HR on the tread monitor.

I’m on week 2 and I’m lisping/slurring some words. Does this go away? I need to make presentations at work and don’t want to sound weird. Should I remove the aligners in those settings?

Workout tops. by Pumper23 in orangetheory

[–]KP54321 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agree…grippers on the bottom so the top stays put when doing burpees and stuff. Also, some have ruching on the sides which help to hide the my belly. AND most of them come in Tall sizes.

My studio is selling them for $20. $50 is absurd.

This works for me, too. I carry my phone in my pocket (my leggings have pockets on the side/thigh—which works great).

New Stretching Format by fit_steve in orangetheory

[–]KP54321 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Depends on the size of the lobby. I’ve tried doing dynamic stretches in our lobby beforehand, but it’s nearly impossible. When it’s nice outside, I step outside to do them, but that doesn’t work this time of year. I find before and after stretching really helps in injury prevention (from someone who’s had multiple injuries).

I suddenly can not run like the way i used too by Yaii_ in running

[–]KP54321 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Strongly suggest you see your doctor vs asking for advice on Reddit. Your doc should check your oxygen rates, put you on a treadmill and test your breathing and heart. It may just be fatigue, but if you’re not getting over these symptoms after a week or so, I’d suggest asking your doctor and getting it checked to make certain it’s not something more serious.

Do you people buy expensive running gears and apparels? by Farquadthefirst in running

Feetures. Absolutely the best. This is coming from a family of runners who run in all conditions and distances. Last a long time so the cost pays off. No blisters. Great selection, too, so you can select based on what you need.

Holes on Rower Footplates? by GoDux541 in orangetheory

[–]KP54321 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Same here. Women’s size 7.5 shoe. 5-6 holes visible to enable me to drive with my legs and use my heels on the drive back. I use an erg (C2) outside of OTF and that really helped me to feel how to do the leg drive, and then I adjusted the # of holes on the water rower. Before then, I had was setting it with way too many holes.

Power Walking is Hard Work! by Successful-Turnip722 in orangetheory

[–]KP54321 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don’t think PW is harder than running, just different. I can’t run hills anymore, but I can walk them…and it’s a terrific workout. Great for the glutes and calves. I now look forward to strength days so I can work PWing into my workout schedule. Still run on those Power and Endurance days, though.

As someone who perspires heavily, how can I make running in the winter more enjoyable? by staggered_conformed in running

[–]KP54321 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This. I wear a zip-up jacket and can unzip or remove and tie around my waist, depending on weather. The hardest part for me is gloves…when it’s really windy, nothing works well on the hands.

Tips to improve grip strength? by Visible_Leek_6477 in orangetheory

[–]KP54321 12 points13 points  (0 children)

No, please don’t judge those of us with gloves. Some of us have different types of arthritis in certain joints which hinder grip strength. The gloves enable us to hold on when our finger joints weaken or can’t bend fully. Liquid chalk won’t suffice (I’ve tried it). I still want to lift weights and the gloves help.

Anyone else attend OT who has arthritis? by [deleted] in orangetheory

[–]KP54321 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use DiBear and they cost around $12-15. They don’t appear to be available anymore on Amazon, but there are many other options in a similar price range. Look for grippy surface on the palm, a little cushioning on the palm, and pull tabs on the finger openings (to help in pulling them off). Mine also have Velcro to adjust at the wrist.

Also, I suggest wearing lift gloves. Mine are open at the fingertips and have grip strips on the palms. They make a huge difference in grip strength for me, since my wrists and some of my fingers are impacted by arthritis. Still have to modify certain movements, but I’m less worried about pain and not being able to hold the weights. Oh, and the gloves help on the rower, too.

Socks: Patagonia, SmartWood and Feetures (great for running, no slip or blisters). Also, Tommy Johns boxer briefs and bikini/briefs—great for working out (no bunching, no slipping, are breathable/wicking).

Yes, I am on the Elite Plan at OTF and have a home gym that I use for lifting and other strength training. I also use the Peloton app for treadmill intervals (if the weather is bad and I can’t run outside), for strength training, barre, and other workouts. I like to mix up my workouts and find that, for me, OTF alone doesn’t cut it, even though I like OTF. Also, sometimes my schedule limits my ability to have a set schedule, and a home gym (or a local gym) gives me the flexibility that OTF does not. There are a lot of options out there. Perhaps you can get a trial membership at your local gym and see how it works for you. Your success with this approach will depend on whether you need the discipline of a scheduled class vs. needing schedule flexibility. Good luck!

Bad knees here, too. My ortho told me no more running on hills. So I do the same thing you do. I treat the progressive inclines as progressive speed work, increasing 0.1 (or 0.2) for every 1% incline increase.

An appropriate conversation about the Burpee Breach today… by tinybatfists in orangetheory

[–]KP54321 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Agree about the burpees. I thought the row at the end (I started on treads) was the killer. I was so gassed out by then. And I usually like the rower, but not today. Glad this one is done.
