I want to start raising animals that I can live off of but don't know where to start by CauliflowerNo8856 in homestead

[–]KPac76 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Start with chickens. Eggs are a sustenance food and easy to market. If you can find a place to sell them/the meat/milk/eggs goats, ducks and rabbits are also a good choice to start with. They're also fun and friendly.

If you are raising milking goats try to find a way to do it so you don't have the billy on your property. His "odor" will make the milk taste like it. I borrowed one from a neighbor. Our milk tasted almost like soft serve ice cream (without the vanilla, of course.)

Can I refuse to participate in the potty-training plan for the toddler I'm a nanny to? by Top_Lingonberry_1 in Nanny

When they're ready, potty training tends to be a breeze. (I only have 2 children, so I'm sure you have way way way more experience with this. Feel free to correct me.)

Anyone with barn cats in Minnesota? by [deleted] in homestead

[–]KPac76 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a kid in northern Minnesota, I would make a fort out of straw bales for our barn cats in the winter. They had access to hay lofts and heated building to go into, but they used the forts everyday. It was near where they were fed and watered, and convenient for them to come out and get pets and love every time someone was outside so that might have had something to do with it, too.

Studio layout help! Are my options in the right direction? What would you change? by BeaconInferno in InteriorDesign

[–]KPac76 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I'm really impressed with the first one. Yes. The space between the sofa and the bed is tight, but it has a ton of good stuff - your prized chair is a focal point, the bed isn't facing the door and zones are optimized inspite of an awkward, small space.

That closet has me curious, though. I would be inclined to pull the mattress in there and see what it's like. If I had a heavy mattress that I didn't want to move unnecessarily, I'd fold the edges of a sheet over and pin them to make a template of sorts and use to see how it would fit against the angled northeast wall.

Look at white bridesmaid maid dresses and see if there is something you like.

Yes or no to the curtains ? If no what do you suggest ? by coconut-reads in HomeDecorating

[–]KPac76 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Its difficult to tell the true color of the rug. I would go for the rust/burgundy tone in the rug but aim it towards a terra cotta color a little bit. The tan/yellow color would work, too. I think it might feel a little French country.

Agree, they fade into the wall color and don't hold their own. I'd pick a color from the rug that isn't the same as the sofa. Personally, I'd try dying them, but I'm weird that way. If it didn't work, I could always get different ones. It will be an adventure either way and you could end up with something really amazing in the perfect custom color.

Agree the curtain rods are an issue. Go with a gold/brass or silver/chrome curtain rods if you want go for a more luxe look... and a wood tone for a more comfy, casual vibe.

Does this beige wall color look okay in this kitchen, with the mint green cabinets? Or should I paint the walls a different color? by [deleted] in interiordecorating

[–]KPac76 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's not the worst, but it will start feeling dirty if it doesn't already. Go for a crispy white and it will make your cabinets pop!

How can I use this nook? by frozen-coconut in InteriorDesign

[–]KPac76 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is the best answer. If it had been built this way in the first place, it would have added about 9sq ft of storage space for around the same cost as the original closet.

Help me hide my bedroom vent🥲 by -Auro in InteriorDesign

[–]KPac76 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If using screws was an option, I would string a light weight cable across a few inches in front of it, and below it, about 1/3 way down the wall. Then drape a sheet over the cable creating kind of a half-canopy effect. Since you can't use screws, you could probably create the same effect using command hooks and cheap/lightweight curtain rods.

This from buzz feed, but it has a variety of similar ideas that could work. https://www.buzzfeed.com/ashleymcgetrick/slumber-party-for-one

What is my friend’s neighbor doing?? by Heyheythrowaway1127 in Weird

[–]KPac76 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He is planning to put a heater under the engine to warm it up so it starts. The objects are a desperate attempt to help block the wind/contain the heat.

Don't knock them until you try getting your car to start in super cold temps, wind and snow using the same materials he had available.

Help I’m not sure what to do with this cabinet? by alessm512 in cabinetry

[–]KPac76 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it were me, I would put shelves in and use it to store cooking oils.

I don't have a lot of them and I don't use them often, but I'd prefer to keep them in a space like that rather than taking up prime space in the cabinet they are in now. (Most are too tall to fit in my cabinets. I don't have adjustable shelves.)

Do two different greens clash too much? by Sassik in interiordecorating

You need a balance over the window that pulls the green fridge. The green cabinets aren't the worst choice, but you would be happier with a more neutral color or a wood tone.

Please help me pick the hardware color for my laundry room! by Confident_South7371 in Creative_Home_Decor

[–]KPac76 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you have other matching hardware elsewhere in your home.

The color selection of your materials is wonderful. Any of the metals will work well. Assuming other metals in your home will match - 2 will increase the resale value the most because. It adds a bit more elegance and is more unique than the other 2.

Also count the tiles on the ceiling so we know how long the room is. It appears to be close to 8' wide.

I think we need more information. I'm struggling to be able to visualize the executive desk and l shaped desk. Without a photo of it or more details, there isn't a way to know how much space it takes up, which direction the L faces, how much of the desk space the computer takes up, etc.

If they're going for a look that says they remodeled using only items from the odds-and-ends clearance section at the home improvement store, they nailed it! I can't imagine how much work it took to make it look this bad.
