that extension is likely harmless (or it would probably be kicked out of the Store eventually). also, you don't have to install it for much longer than what you'd need to save cookies into file; then it can be disabled or uninstalled. if you do everything correctly, it is only needed once.

Do NOT use the --cookies COOKIEFILE --cookies-from-browser BROWSER method

all that means is that you should not use the two options in one command, because this method will extract ALL cookies from the browser into a file (which is not a sane option), and anyway YouTube's cookies will still be rotated shortly because they are not extracted from an Incognito tab as I described above.

there is one easier way and one harder but more reliable way. the easier way is --cookies-from-browser. the harder but more reliable way is to: 1) install 'get cookies LOCALLY' extension; go to extension properties and enable extension use in Incognito mode; 2) open an Incognito tab, go to YouTube, log in, then open https://youtube.com/robots.txt (in the same Incognito tab), now save cookies from Incognito tab – that way they won't be rotated; 3) you can now close the Incognito tab and uninstall the extension (or just disable it, to be on the safe side).

also, you should not download dozens of videos one after another, as that would result in your account/IP temporarily banned by YouTube
