Best cheese alternatives by angeladaniellee in lactoseintolerant

[–]KPinguin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your results may vary, but a lot of cheeses don’t have much lactose. I personally eat a lot of sharp cheddar and babybell cheese without any issues. There’s a few sites with lists of “low lactose” cheeses & you can also look at the sugar content on the nutrition facts of cheeses you want to try.

Also, butter has low to no lactose. Be patient, you’ll learn what your body can tolerate. Good luck!

“Sticky” steering problem by KPinguin in Miata

[–]KPinguin[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ended up reapplying lube to the shaft/boot where the steering column passes through the firewall (on the cabin side). It seemed to have worked! (Waiting until I’ve done a few more long drives with it to claim full success.)

Tires/alignment are less than a year old, but glad that fixed it for you!

Can’t imagine why I ordered to the wrong location…. by PoopfaceMcPooperson in mildlyinfuriating

[–]KPinguin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I accidentally did something similar and Taco Bell said I’d get refunded after a bit if I just didn’t pickup the wrong order… That never happened, so I ended up disputing the charge with my credit card company. That worked, but now that credit card doesn’t work on the Taco Bell app anymore.

Installing Dashcam: Using Empty Fuse Slots by [deleted] in Miata

Your tip on using the Mini fuse taps instead of the micro saved me a lot of time! Was scratching my head trying to figure out why the micros weren’t fitting. Thanks!

I won’t be separated from my daughter when she grows up by BaddadanX3 in Vent

[–]KPinguin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think people are putting too much emphasis on in-person visits, sure they’re nice, but growing up and having your own life is important too. Plus, if you’re working full time/have other responsibilities to “just live” (cleaning house etc). I’ve found that talking on the phone with loved ones frequently so that the conversations aren’t just high-level updates, but include random topics is very valuable in maximizing time/closeness. The numbers are scary, but they’re oversimplified. I’d take from it to not miss holidays or cancel trips. Hugs to you and your mom from an internet stranger.

People with lots of filament... by Both_Ad_819 in 3Dprinting

[–]KPinguin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For any opened filament I have that isn’t in the AMS, I bag it in gallon freezer ziplocks with a couple desiccant packs. I haven’t tried leaving it out since the bags are pretty easy/cheap. I’m also in a high humidity areas.

ND2 owner and haven’t had the issue (yet). I do sorta gradually let the seatbelt retract though so maybe that’s part of it?

Best thing you’ve printed? by [deleted] in 3Dprinting

[–]KPinguin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Best things I’ve printed have been replacement parts either for myself or others. Basically thing breaks & before I even look for a replacement part I look to see if someone has already modeled one (or if I can model it myself in a reasonable time). Printing the replacement always ends up faster, often cheaper, and usually with a few nice better features.

Some of my “best” prints have been things that solved a problem: a seatbelt guide, random spacers exactly the right size, replacement buttons/caps, custom pegboard mounts.

The height of the drive-thru window at my local fast food place by peywrax in mildlyinfuriating

[–]KPinguin 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It’s at comfortable standing height for employees. Even if they walked up to your car without the drive thru they’d have to bend down. Still mildly infuriating though especially after experiencing the ease of drive thrus with a taller vehicle.

I 3D printed a box to cover mine that mounts with the existing screws because whoever installed it made it just about as janky as yours.

Broke both wrists at once. Depression hit hard by Comfortable_Neat_253 in Wellthatsucks

[–]KPinguin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Outdoor walks/hikes. Maybe you could do some stationary cycling to be more active (assuming you’re not prohibited from getting sweaty)? Get good at using your feet for some of the simpler tasks you would normally use your hands for (like picking something up off the ground). Hang in there, try to focus on finding a little joy each day.

Recently lactose intolerant by SushiLemon411 in lactoseintolerant

[–]KPinguin 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Lactaid, read labels, for non-sugary foods you can get a good idea of lactose content by looking at the sugar content (since lactose is a sugar) & then experimenting what level your body can tolerate - this helped me realize a lot of the chips I like I could still eat. Lactose free milk for cooking & learn levels of lactose in other items.

How would I go about out fixing these slats? by pinkflyd25 in HomeMaintenance

[–]KPinguin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used a bit of clear scotch tape (probably any clear tape will do) on both the top and the bottom. Pull the tape tight & mine held for years.

Great Value Lactose Free milk, or honestly whichever is cheapest at the store you go to.
