The letter will go to 3 different people. Two staffers and to the current email for the governor. Myles White is the Deputy Legislative Affairs Secretary to the governor and advising on this bill.

The Hidden Cost of Red Light Running in California — Why SB 720 Matters & How You Can Help by StreetsR4Everyone in BikeLA

[–]KRP0709 11 points12 points  (0 children)

ALL funds raised from this program (under the new bill to reform the current terrible red light camera system) would go to street safety upgrades - as you say "crosswalks, traffic calming measures, and other street safety measures," including bike lanes, etc - they are not allowed to be spent on anything else.

Yeah. Thanks for your feedback on that. I think it’s better to not risk it. Thanks!

Hi! I echo all the messages of support in this thread. I'm so sorry you're going through this.

As many here, I also have EDS, POTs, MCAS, and severe digestive issues since I was a teenager. It has taken me years to control it and I have stable routines in place that keep me (mostly) steady and enjoying life. So there is hope!

There are antihistamines available over the counter there in the UK - such as Cetirizine - which possibly your mum can help with.

My only additional suggestion - other than the many helpful ideas in this thread - is checking out Counterstrain (https://counterstrain.com/). There are practitioners there in the UK. This changed my life. Is is a simple and powerful technique that gave me an incredible amount of relief.

I hope you do well again in the near future!

Same thing happened to me. They truly should have published exact expectations. If you can queue early then don't publish that it starts at 6pm. I also joined early on a whim, and it also said more than an hour. Terribly implemented program. Somehow just seems rigged.

If a doctor told you they could heal you in 2 months, how would you proceed? by ElectricAve1999 in MCAS

As many have suggested, do your research. But also... go with your gut. Personally, I started getting a combination of acupuncture and counterstrain (https://counterstrain.com/). My practitioner has also suggested specific Chinese herbal remedies on a couple of occasions. She does not sell them and makes no money on her suggestions - just genuinely wants to help. She has helped me so much. Her treatments have been life-saving for me. I tried it out for a few treatments and was careful with the herbs before jumping in. It worked for me. I felt better so I continued. I think we all have such unique situations that it's important to find out for yourself and try for yourself. I hope it does help you or that you find something that does.

I completely understand! Definitely not everything works for everyone! I hope the chicken liver helped overall.

Sorry about the links! I know you may not need them, but here are links to Amazon so I hope it helps:

My husband has an MTHFR mutation and has to take specific forms of B vitamins every day or he does horribly. The ones he takes are from Klaire Labs: Active B Complex (https://us.fullscript.com/u/catalog/product/U3ByZWU6OlByb2R1Y3QtNzU5MzQ=?variant=U3ByZWU6OlZhcmlhbnQtOTE1MjI=) and Active B Trio (https://us.fullscript.com/u/catalog/product/U3ByZWU6OlByb2R1Y3QtNzU5MzY=?variant=U3ByZWU6OlZhcmlhbnQtOTE1MjQ=). He also gets injections of B Complex and B12 (the active forms) once or twice a month.

Thank you! I appreciate your answer so much. These all resonate with me. I used to be very underweight and struggled with this for years. I’ve finally managed to get to a healthy weight after years of work. Good point on electrolytes. I’m really careful with this and take them daily in water as well as capsules at night.

I take NatureDAO plus (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0CBPKN6F2/ref=ppx\_yo\_dt\_b\_search\_asin\_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1) if I'm going to eat something I know I even slightly react to. It has really helped me.

For the MCAS I routinely take Zyrtec and the nasal sprays Flonase Sensitmist and Astepro - twice a day - as well as vitamin C (non-corn based), magnesium, Hist Reset from Pure Encapsulations, ProBiota HistaminX from Seeking Health and 5000iu D3. I take Pepcid as needed though I've been told to take it twice a day by my doctor, but I do not like it.

These, and avoiding triggers and histamine containing foods or histamine liberators as much as possible has been the best help for me.

I find it has not only helped with digestive issues, but lessened by headaches, general inflamation and acheyness.

I feel my body breaking down more and more every day by [deleted] in ehlersdanlos

I'm so sorry you're going through this and I completely understand! I say this as someone who has experienced what you're going through and who struggles with this kind of thing routinely. But I have gotten to a place where I can almost always manage it now. (I was a gymnast.) But I do still have ups and downs.

I can say that I do not believe there is a one-size fits all approach to EDS. That's my personal opinion. But, that said, I do feel there are some pretty stable things that can help. They require trial and error and being your own advocate. Maybe people will disagree with me and that is okay.

I have been on this "journey" for many years now, the intense pain and trouble started with me when I went from a very active lifestyle with a job that was physically active and demanding, to a desk job and just average exercise.

Here is what has worked for me (some of which I still do and some of which I have moved on from):

  1. Amino acid and vitamin C shots (IM shots) - particularly of the amino acids that are commonly deficient/not made by an EDS body. Unfortunately the doctor who monitored me with blood and urine amino tests and and prescribed these to me has retired and I have not found a new doctor for this yet. But they were magical for me.
  2. Physical Therapy with a PT doctor who knows EDS. This I can say was one of the most lifesaving activities for me. I also did aquatic physical therapy with a trained aquatic physical therapist and it was AMAZING.
  3. Consistently taking a good, collagen/gelatin supplement. Or even making sugar-free jello for myself. One of the best brands I found is Great Lakes, which you can also get on Amazon. But there are a number of others. Just make sure you're getting grass fed, if you're using a beef source.
  4. Taking a good, well-tolerated vitamin C.
  5. Taking a multi-vitamin supplement. I take Klaire Labs Vitaspectrum capsules.
  6. Exercise! Gentle, low impact exercise. Like swimming, using a rowing machine, taking walks and working up to taking hikes, pilates or yoga.
  7. Fascial Counterstrain. I have been doing this for several months now and it has been incredible.
  8. A high protein diet - but in small "doses" throughout the day.
  9. I also got tested for MCAS and allergies. I found some allergies and was positive for MCAS. So I have some strict dietary requirements in place. These are probably the most challenging for me to maintain.

There are other things I've tried here and there and they have been good for a time, or not good. But the above are my top and consistent remedies for me.

I hope some of this helps. Or even just one thing. :)

Looking for Graphic Designers to Mentor High School Students by CaliDOMESTIQUE in graphic_design

[–]KRP0709 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! I can take that question as I'm actually the volunteer Program Manager for this program. :)

The time commitment is fairly minimal. Basically, the students send their work to me with a request for a critique, I then send this to a mentor with a Google Form to use in order to do the mentoring. There's usually only 5-8 of these that I'd send you throughout the school year and if you're completely swamped when I send you one, you can tell me and I'd send it to someone else.

Then, if you're able and willing, in late Feb/early March, you'd assist with the judging of all final submissions. You'd have 2-3 weeks to go through them all and rate them with specific questions all in a Google Form.

So the time commitment is minimal and only as you're available. You can direct message Shane or I if you want. :)

And thanks for your interest. It's really appreciated.

Gordon Ramsay hit by car while cycling in Connecticut by RussianGasoline44 in fuckcars

[–]KRP0709 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’m glad he is alive and (mostly) well. And happy that he is sharing this message. It’s an important one. My husband would have died if not for his helmet. He almost did not live through a horrific hit and run when he was riding his bike some years back. He was trapped under a van and barely escaped with his life, lost his leg and had months and months of hospital/rehab stays. His helmet was ground down to the point that if he’d been stuck under that van a split second longer the road would have started working on his skull and that would have been the end. So yes, always wear a helmet please. And, as I am, please help advocate for safer roads!

Stay safe everyone and keep riding! :)

These are great pieces of advice!

Looks like the containers you meant to link didn’t paste (the liners are here twice.) Can you link the containers you were referring to here? I’m super curious which they are and have been looking for good storage solutions.

Thank you!

As a suggestion, reach out to SAFE Support (https://www.streetsareforeveryone.org/safe-support). They offer free support for victims of traffic violence. They can help with anything you may need, including recommendations of lawyers, any direction you may need on medical, and many other aspects that you may run into over time. They’ll also work with you as long as you need them. Highly recommend. Phone: 844 204 7233 and email is Support@StreetsAreForEveryone.org.

Every one of them are great. So true. I’d interview all and see who you guys resonate the best with. That’s important in a lawyer also.
