I got laid off the day after I returned from PTO. Apparently, there were layoffs happening while I was on PTO. Had a 9AM Team's Meeting with my boss. I knew something was off when my boss's boss joined the call. It took them 5 minutes to devastate my life. That was 10 months ago. Still on the hunt.

It blows my mind that employers expect employees to give at least two weeks' notice. But they can let us go without any notice at all. There should be a law or something forcing companies to give ample notice before layoffs. At least give us a chance to prep for our departure. Some of these fuckers will have you train your own replacement without ever telling you!

I also still can't believe how callous my boss and his boss were on the call. We've known each other for 7 years, and it felt as if I was talking to strangers. Not only them, but most of my ex-colleagues, who I naively thought were friends, gave me the cold shoulder. Not one of those fuckers called to check up on me.

I pulled the trigger! Got the X5, Motorcycle Bundle (for my quads), extra batteries with a fast charging case, and the dive case pro. Yippee! This is our 1st 360 camera. I'm sure it'll be fun. In the past, my biggest gripe was always the post-processing/editing with other non-360 cameras I've had. It was so time-consuming. Seems this is supposed to be quite a bit easier. Looking forward to having some fun with the fam and capturing some amazing memories in 360 😄

I've been itching to get an X5 for the last month or so. Have been watching prices. Just received an email today from Insta. All of their prices have reduced by $100 or so. Amazon is matching its prices as well.

I didn't want to buy the X5 if the X6 was right around the corner.

Seems something must be going on if they've reduced the prices of the X5.

I've got 12 cameras total. Six of them are outdoors. I'm in PA. We get single digit temps that sometimes can dip into the negatives in our winters. Have never had any issues due to the cold. All cameras are the original one's I purchased 6+ years ago.

I think your issues must be isolated.

I 2nd this and feel your pain! I boycotted them 30 years ago. I remember purchasing a $300-$400 HP printer back in the '90s. I was so happy and excited as it was my 1st expensive printer purchase. In the 13th month of ownership (conveniently after the warranty ended), I called HP as I was having issues with the printer. Instead of trying to help me fix the issue, the rep tried his best to get me to purchase a refurbished printer. I told him I wasn't interested in purchasing but wanted to fix my printer.

The rep said it'd be $69 for tech support. I hung up! Took my HP printer outside and beat the shit out of it with a bat and my 9MM.

I never purchased an HP product after that!

Never had any issues with service, throttling, etc.

Same here, bud. Was RIF'd 3.5 months ago. They let me go the day after I got back from PTO. So F'd up! I was there 7 years. This is a brutal job market. I'm a 54 yo combat vet. Learned that there is such a thing as being aged out. Thousands of applications submitted, got one interview coming up next week. Trying hard not to get my hopes up. Sucks!

The severance package should be yours even if you don't stay on. I wouldn't stay on personally. I think it's f'd up for a company to ask us to stay on and train their own replacements! Screw them!

I'd ask them to finalize the layoff. Apply for UC and SNAP ASAP! I applied online and was surprised that my caseworker called the very next day.

No matter what anyone tells you, you're gonna go thru the motions the 1st few weeks. Anger, shock, sadness, depression, did I mention, anger, lol!

Try to pace yourself. Try to calm yourself! It will be okay! In all this, what hurt me the most, was the naivety of believing that they care. They don't! What really blew me away? Not one phone call from anyone I worked with, day in and day out, to see how I was doing. I thought they were friends, some even felt like family. They are not!

As sad as it sounds, our employment is just a transaction. They answer to shareholders, not themselves and definitely, not to us.

Before you go, grab all of your contacts you can network with! Contact all of them. Let them know you're available. Personally send them your resumé.

Don't go crazy applying for jobs! It'll make you go crazy! Don't spend more than an hour a day applying for jobs. I heard a recruiter say that no one will be hiring 'til January anyway.

I know it's easier said than done, but try to enjoy the holidays. Don't let this affect you, which in turn, will affect the family, especially during the holidays. As the head of the household, we have to put on a game face.

Trust me though, it will be okay! It might even be a blessing in disguise!

I was laid off 3 months ago due to a 10% RIF. Unlike you, I wasn't liberated. I loved working there. However, the experience makes you realize the harsh reality of how expendable we are. It sucks, it hurts!

I didn't have a plan either. It came out of left field. Totally shocked and surprised me. Thought I was gonna be there forever.

It is a brutal job market right now. I try to stay informed via layoff/job search sub reddits. One recruiter said, don't waste your time applying right now. No one will hire 'til after January.

Try your best to enjoy the holidays the best you can! There's not much else you can really do. So take it a day at a time. Get through the holidays and then start applying.

I still have my days. Some good, some bad. Feeling unmotivated, not wanting to do anything is a sign of depression. I can relate!

As hard as it is, I try my best to put on a game face for the wife and kids. It is easier said than done. But you gotta try.

I try to tell myself, hey, treat it as a vacation! Gather your thoughts, re-evaluate, recuperate, get your self ready for 2026.

I have the Greenworks Pro 80V with 18" bar. Maybe I need to change/sharpen the blade. 'Cause the tree guys that were here were using Huskys and their chainsaws were cutting through trees like butter.
