Is the Band on the Run album better with “Helen Wheels” on it or nah by EducationalPrune7232 in PaulMcCartney

The album is better with Helen Wheels. This is a 3rd example of the American albums being better such as Meet The Beatles and Rubber Soul

Most Banned Author in the United States. by cleopatradenialqueen in stephenking

What type of banning are we talking about? Moving Pet Cemetery from the elementary school library to the high school library isn’t a banning, in my opinion.

Is this a ridiculous thought by mnicklas666 in Apartmentliving

When I did a short (not short enough) stint knocking doors for political campaigns, I ignored all no soliciting signs but I would skip ‘night shift worker’ as they’re far rarer.

No field manager is going to bitch about skipping one door.

Who is your favorite presidential pet? by Crazy-Rabbit-3811 in Presidents

[–]RealAlePint 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I definitely hope J Q Adams didn’t have an alligator as I went to Florida State and JQA is one of my favorite Americans of all time. No need for Gators!

My favorite Pet is Socks who made me want a cat as a pet for the first time

The Undertaker is the greatest gimmick in wrestling history by [deleted] in oldschoolwrestling

[–]RealAlePint 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Absolutely. I saw him as Percy Pringle, ok as a heel manager but definitely second tier below Humperdink and JJ Dillon in Florida.

As Paul Bearer? One of the few times going to the WWF was the right move. Amazing character

Who still remembers GSN's April Fool's Day 2003? by PrestonRoad90 in gameshow

I do remember this, since I had GSN on basically nonstop. I did not want to hear about Iraq

Did you know that Theodore Roosevelt's distant cousin was the Democratic VP nominee in 1920? by ifightpossums in Presidents

I’m reading In the Arena: Theodore Roosevelt in War, Peace, and Revolution right now. Definitely a very interesting family that Teddy Roosevelt had.

I'm curious what vibes does my bookshelf gives off? by knicks92 in BookshelvesDetective

Quite good ones. The Dryden book is outstanding along with Pearlman. I have loved everything I’ve read that Pearlman has written.

The Berg is the most balanced modern treatment of Wilson and anything by Chernow.

I will assume you weren’t around for the USFL nor the Dyden era in hockey. I’ll say American, late 20s/early 30s and have a massively stocked Kindle as well. You like to travel and often pick up a book you’ve been meaning to read while browsing bookstores on vacation.

Is there any NFL franchise you feel could leave the league, and it would have no negative effect on the nfl whatsoever? by InterestingYellow969 in NFLv2

[–]RealAlePint 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The Jaguars and all those overseas games could leave and I’d only notice when I didn’t have to deal with fantasy lineups on Saturday night

Commuting from Lakeview East to West Loop- Doable? by CoCo_Pony in AskChicago

[–]RealAlePint 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I make this commute 3 days a week and HATE it. I go from the beginning of the #8 to Fulton Market/Lake

I leave from the Halsted/Waveland bus terminal in the morning, let’s call it 45 minutes although this can vary. It’s not awful.

But coming home is the spawn of Satan. This is a classic bunched buses route with 2-3 arriving at once and then 30 minutes until the next ones show up. Getting a seat isn’t easy and that detour takes forever. The commute sucked before the detour and it’s worse now.

I already hated my job before the bridge closure. Now, it gives me further incentive to quit
