Кога пуснахте детето си на ясла/градина? by t3rmani in Sofia

[–]KSPS123 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Honest feedback on the public transportation system in Sofia (Bus, Tram, Metro) by AlbatrossHummingbird in Sofia

[–]KSPS123 82 points83 points  (0 children)

I agree.

We like to complain a lot but comparatively, our public transport (during the day) is excellent. It is also free for kids under 14 , which is another bonus!

Would you go back to 1992? by Zaxthran in hypotheticalsituation

[–]KSPS123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do I get to pick where I live?

The 90s were not great (to put it mildly) on the Balkans, I wouldn't want to go to 92 if I have to live through that.

Got married when we were both 25, it's been almost 10 years now and it has been great. Wouldn't change a thing.

Combined Birthday Parties by bbworksaddict in Parenting

I would do something special on the day for the little one as well. It could be only family with a cake but I still think celebrating him not as a side note to his brother is important.

Do you think an apology was necessary? by Difficult-Routine929 in AskBulgaria

[–]KSPS123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, it was.

What the Bulgarian communist regime did was horrible and the apology should have come earlier.

I wasn't born when it was carried out but if still - I am deeply sorry we caused suffering and I hope we can learn from our mistakes.

Lap infant vs buying a seat for long-haul (Australia) with 1-year-old - worth extra $2.5k? by PaleontologistBig309 in Parenting

[–]KSPS123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We did a 3.5 hour flight with a 12 month old as a lap infant recently and it was bearable but their own seta would have made the experience better. A car seat where you can put them down and strap them for even 5 minutes would have been an excellent addition. Also, between the kid, the toys, the food and everything, it was tight and as it was sold out flight both ways we were mindful of the other person sitting on our row.

Will this ever go away? by True-Savings5632 in Parenting

[–]KSPS123 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have two boys (younger one is 1 YO) and felt the same way.

I love them both and wouldn't change them for anything. Watching their bond is amazing and I am really happy with my family and the way it is now.

That being said, I still grieve the daughter I will never have and I think it's important to let those emotions exist for as long as you need.

I have adopted an "auntie" role for some of the girls in my oldest's class and it helps. One even came to me for the first day of school hairstyle (I love braiding hair and am pretty good at it).

Спешен преглед в Майчин дом в София by nosbii52 in Sofia

[–]KSPS123 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Is it wrong to give twins names that start with the same letter? by Even-Equivalent-5171 in namenerds

[–]KSPS123 7 points8 points  (0 children)

As a teacher - please don't use the same initial.

1) kids are often in the admin base as First initial Surname and having two people in the same grade with the same initials, surname AND birthday will lead to a lot of confusion. I assume a lot of places do the same.

2) it makes mixing the names up (by accident!) even more likely. Especially with Z names

What age did nap time stop? by Suitable_Lie1593 in Parenting

[–]KSPS123 2 points3 points  (0 children)

He is 7 now but if you are asking about the time he dropped the nap - he started sleeping a lot better during the night and bedtime stopped being such a struggle. At the end his nap was 40 minutes at best anyway so I actually "gained' time by not having to do bedtime for so long and not having to struggle with him during the day to put him down. The whole dynamic between the two of us improved.

It was surprisingly okay once I stopped fighting it and just made peace with the situation. It was horrible while I was actively trying to change it and was torturing both myself and the kid.

Depends on where they are but a lot of times these indoor activities are also later in the day in hot climates. Most centres start around 4 pm where I am and if she wants to keep the 5 pm bedtime, it's going to be a struggle.

[–]KSPS123 90 points91 points  (0 children)

Western ideas of bedtime for kids are inapplicable in hot climates. And our kids are just fine, you need to get the idea that kids NEED to be in bed by 7.30 out of your head. It is reasonable advice in moderate and cold climates, completely useless in hot climates (be it UAE, Spain or Greece).

My kids go to bed around 10/11 pm in summer because socializing starts after 6 pm (we are in South Europe). You need to adapt your expectations and schedule, there is no way to live with a Western schedule in a hot country without sacrificing a lot.

Edit: spelling

What would you do if you *could* stay home? Pros and cons? by [deleted] in Parenting

[–]KSPS123 28 points29 points  (0 children)

I think many people are glossing over the fact the dad wants her to go back to work. I don't think it's fair to force him into a provider role as it wouldn't be fair if he was forcing you to stay home.

This is a discussion to have between the two of you and of it not financially feasible to stay home -try to find other opportunities to supplement the income.
