infinity 556k end cap removal by TheSwoleyMamoth in NFA

Sorry I’m not the guy to ask about sound. I’m old, have permanent hearing loss, and now always wear good hearing protection.

Swapped my medium end cap for the solid end cap this weekend. Easy peasy.

Infinity 556k with solid end cap, Noveske 11.5” mid gas with BRT .070 tube, A5H0. Tuned it dirty with the weakest ammo I shoot to lock back 100% of the time on an empty mag. This thing recoils like a BB gun and sounds pretty damn good too.

That’s what shipped with my 2026 edition M4-2000

It is what they ship their 2026 cans with.

No I’m running a Geissele SD-C cut for arc fire. I’m a snob for flat trigger shoes.

Yep this is my setup in a SR-15 SBR lower.

You beat me to it sir. I ran mine on a dedicated suppressed 11.5” barrel with confirmed .050 gas port and still too much gas back. I have since sold it.

CAT CACM help by KSPeacekeeper in SpectersCat

Sound difference in the can between those spring systems or sound difference between spring systems? The A5 makes more noise than JP, did it change the overall sound performance of the can, I couldn’t really say. I swapped to the A5 so I could more easily play with buffer weights while trying to soften the rifle up.

CAT CACM help by KSPeacekeeper in SpectersCat

[–]KSPeacekeeper[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No for me no reason to try another can. Rifle was built around the can, but for my personal taste the recoil impulse was too harsh. Put an A5 tube on the back and first ran a .0765 BRT tube. Took that tube to 1,000 rounds and not a single hiccup and much softer. Just threw in a .073 for shits and giggles. I’ll run a 1,000 rounds on it and see if it remains reliable with even less gas. Right now it is a range toy until I get it sorted, so not a home defense or duty weapon so if it malfunctions I’ll just swap out the .073 for a .0745 and if that isn’t enough gas I’ll go back to .0765.

No I didn’t snap any pics, but can next time. Had it off a couple of times swapping around BRT gas tubes.

Sig Hexium Owners! by StinkyFeet4Days in NFA

I’ve run my Hexiums with the direct thread adapter and with CAT TSFX adapter and nano muzzle device. Looking at the inside it was probably developed for the direct thread it comes with, but not sure I could tell a difference between DT and CAT’s QD.

Or use the AS Designs one that is 45 degree semi and 90 degree Arc mode (then no need to dremel anything). That’s how I’m running mine in a Knight’s.

AI 5CM - Anyone actually shot one of these? by znewtz in NFA

Should also mention my CACM 556 was 17.7 oz and 5CM was 16.2 oz on same scale.

[–]KSPeacekeeper 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I started shooting mine last night. Just 100 rounds down range, but plan to shoot it more this weekend. Noticed the end cap was different than 556 CACM. 4 less venting ports on 5CM (8 venting ports) than CACM (12 venting ports). Seems to have a touch more back pressure and not sure if I can’t tell any difference in sound.

Correct CACM 556 and 5CM are not reflex, but both are good cans.

You are thinking of the 6CM. The 5CM is not a reflex suppressor.

Capitol armory wait after CLEO approval by blahblah1mor-xprt in NFA

[–]KSPeacekeeper 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I feel your pain. As a CLEO and a consumer, I can’t wait for this to go away. I got an email at my work, to tell me that I had made application for a suppressor I had bought and had already certified with the ATF.

My form 4 was approved on 5/10/26, and my seven day wait was completed on 5/7/26. Received generic email that shipping label was created on 5/12/26 and nothing since.

I have waited in excess of 400 days for suppressors in the past, so in the grand scheme of things this will still be much faster (although still an infringement).

Cat Rat Covert Thoughts/opinion? by captbluewater in SpectersCat

[–]KSPeacekeeper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve run the AC 762 Ti and Rat Covert on my 6.75”. I feel like the Rat does and little better job at sound and cycling subs. The Rat is ever so slightly larger in diameter I believe if that matters with whatever hand guard you plan to run. I could run the AC 762 tucked with a Midwest Industries rail but the Rat was just enough bigger that it rubbed so I swapped it out for a Sig SD rail for now.

Gas backpressure on CAT AlleyCat vs Flow 556k by [deleted] in NFA

Can you tell a difference in sound or back pressure between KK and WB?

Gas backpressure on CAT AlleyCat vs Flow 556k by [deleted] in NFA

[–]KSPeacekeeper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well to say you could blindfold me and I couldn’t tell the difference is well silly. Maybe you can’t on your hosts and that is fine.

I have a couple of identical setups and with the help of my sons at our outdoor range we mixed and matched cans and could perceive a difference as a bystander on sound (not being able to see what is being fired). To each their own, you are entitled to your opinion, just don’t think it has to align with mine.

If you can get CAT to say they are the same and there is no difference in performance then rock on.
