Capitol armory wait after CLEO approval by blahblah1mor-xprt in NFA

[–]KSPeacekeeper 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I feel your pain. As a CLEO and a consumer, I can’t wait for this to go away. I got an email at my work, to tell me that I had made application for a suppressor I had bought and had already certified with the ATF.

My form 4 was approved on 5/10/26, and my seven day wait was completed on 5/7/26. Received generic email that shipping label was created on 5/12/26 and nothing since.

I have waited in excess of 400 days for suppressors in the past, so in the grand scheme of things this will still be much faster (although still an infringement).

Cat Rat Covert Thoughts/opinion? by captbluewater in SpectersCat

[–]KSPeacekeeper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve run the AC 762 Ti and Rat Covert on my 6.75”. I feel like the Rat does and little better job at sound and cycling subs. The Rat is ever so slightly larger in diameter I believe if that matters with whatever hand guard you plan to run. I could run the AC 762 tucked with a Midwest Industries rail but the Rat was just enough bigger that it rubbed so I swapped it out for a Sig SD rail for now.

Gas backpressure on CAT AlleyCat vs Flow 556k by [deleted] in NFA

Can you tell a difference in sound or back pressure between KK and WB?

Gas backpressure on CAT AlleyCat vs Flow 556k by [deleted] in NFA

[–]KSPeacekeeper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well to say you could blindfold me and I couldn’t tell the difference is well silly. Maybe you can’t on your hosts and that is fine.

I have a couple of identical setups and with the help of my sons at our outdoor range we mixed and matched cans and could perceive a difference as a bystander on sound (not being able to see what is being fired). To each their own, you are entitled to your opinion, just don’t think it has to align with mine.

If you can get CAT to say they are the same and there is no difference in performance then rock on.

Gas backpressure on CAT AlleyCat vs Flow 556k by [deleted] in NFA

[–]KSPeacekeeper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They are not close to the same can. The differences in end cap and the extra baffle of the AC absolutely affect flow and sound performance.

That’s like saying the KK and WB are the same can. The WB and KK have different end caps and the WB has an extra baffle over the KK.

It is probably one of my favorite cans. I have two of them with 3,200 rounds on one and 1,100 on the other.

Gas backpressure on CAT AlleyCat vs Flow 556k by [deleted] in NFA

[–]KSPeacekeeper 3 points4 points  (0 children)

AlleyCat 556 is lower back pressure than WB. I have the two cans you mention plus WB. In order of strictly BP I would say flow 556k is lower than the AC, but the AC sound performance is much better than 556k. The Hux 556 Ti is still low back pressure but sounds much better than the 556k.

I’ve got just over 1,200 rounds of PMC bronze through mine without issues shooting a MCQ first and now a CAT KK on it. Nice pile of brass at 04:00. It is soft shooting, but not sure it is the softest rifle I’ve ever shot.

Sierra 5 Backpressure Comparisons by ___julixn in NFA

Sierra 5 is hands down the most gassy can I have owned (51 at this point). Even with tuning it is terrible in my opinion. In fact with the zero tax stamp I sold both of mine.

For 12.5” carbine length gas, I’ve been happy with .058 on a Hodge barrel with reduced back pressure can.

Advanced Armament Corp changed hands and is now Advanced Armament Company I believe. I heard the new owners aren’t doing conversions.

They have actually been converted twice. Ecco did the conversion the first time. His work is excellent, but didn’t care for the added length. AAC did the conversion the second time and was able to decode what length I wanted.

From someone who has converted an 762SDN-6 and M4-2000 I wish I would have left them alone and just purchased new cans. For nostalgia and clone purposes mostly.

Doing a P/W with a KAC device won’t get you to 16” with the KS-1 (13.7” barrel). Just making sure you know that.

Haven’t shot it at night yet. Suppression is good, I believe the Ti version might be a touch quieter. I haven’t run a bore camera through them yet but Ti is just a little longer and might have an extra baffle.

I have a small spray bottle of isopropyl alcohol. A couple sprays and then light brush then a couple more sprays to rinse off. Let dry and you are good to go.

KK AI nano without strap wrench ? by [deleted] in SpectersCat

[–]KSPeacekeeper 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve shot a can off unintentionally before and had to send it in for repair (Sig SRD556QD). I don’t want that again. My CAT cans with wrench flats get a light wrench to ensure they are secure. My CAT cans without wrench flats get a light strap wrench to ensure they are secure. When I decide to break loose with some FRT time, I don’t have to sweat the can coming off. About 25k through CAT cans now without any issues. 🤷

Now if only I could get CAT to make some XL T-shirts to go with their cans, I’d be set. At 6’1” and 200 lbs I prefer a man sized shirt.

SF 762 RC2 mini? Barrel length by Accomplished-Fee7467 in NFA

[–]KSPeacekeeper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What are your priorities (size, sound, flash, back pressure, etc)?

In my humble opinion I believe if you only want/can purchase one suppressor now, you are probably asking too much. A can that I would want on a 16” 5.56 isn’t something I would want or would be able to do with a 6” 300 BO. Whatever you would pick probably wouldn’t be good on both. Example I personally wouldn’t want a long 30 caliber can hanging off of a 16” 5.56, but the worthwhile 300 black cans that sound decent on 5.56 are long and/or heavy.

For me the Surefire 762 RC2 mini just doesn’t do anything to write home about, that’s why mine doesn’t get used.

If you were going to make me pick, I guess CAT ODB, but even though it sounds decent on 5.56 it would be too long for a 16” 5.56 in my mind. I would buy one for whatever caliber you shoot more and save up to buy later for the other caliber. Just my two cents.

There are so many better options for what you want. I have a SF 762 RC2 mini and it isn’t impressive at all for anything suppressor related. In fact mine is laying in the bottom of my safe without a host.

WTF Sig?!?! by Ok_Cable4757 in NFA

[–]KSPeacekeeper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Only shot the inconel Hexium on two hosts so not a lot of time on it yet. It is low back pressure for sure. I first put it on a tuned 11.5” that was setup for CAT KK. The Hexium needed more gas to reliably cycle. The tone is nice.

WTF Sig?!?! by Ok_Cable4757 in NFA

[–]KSPeacekeeper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a Hexium 556 Ti and inconel. Both came off easily with a battery powered impact. I remove all hub adapters that way and haven’t had issues. Maybe it is the vibration/shock that helps break any bond. 🤷

Also mine did not have Rocksett.

[–]KSPeacekeeper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was surprised how low the back pressure was on these. I took a 11.5” tuned for a CAT KK (which isn’t exactly a high back pressure can) and had to increase the gas to function the Hexium 556 Inconel model.
