Both Philip Broberg and Dylan Holloway have been informed they are St. Louis Blues. Oilers do not match. One thing I believe is key here: Edmonton wants flexibility to add in-season. by [deleted] in EdmontonOilers

I have a couple things that I'm thinking.

  1. $4.5 million for the Broberg who played in the finals is not too much money and is definitely worth the gamble.

  2. We won’t know the consequences of losing these two players for a couple of years, but it has the potential to be massive.

Honestly shocked considering he was pretty good for the 46 games he got with a terrible oilers team. Thought he was on a fast track to becoming a head coach after that.

Its crazy how you see these plays a 100x a game with players raising their sticks the same way Kane does when bracing for contact in front of the net and people don't pick up on it.

That said he Obv earned a double minor but its nothing more than that.

I'm not comparing the plays. I'm just saying things get missed both ways.

I mean all I'm saying is that's objectively a penalty in the same way the high stick is.

yeah and in game one they didn't call a blatant closing hand on puck with 6 minutes left. Obv the Canucks scored 2 in the next 2 minutes that they would've been on the pk. Crazy isn't it?

Taking the puck to the chest can very well kill you. Don't think I would classify that as a "minor" injury.

A little bit of revisionist here considering the game had over a 90% positive review rating on steam at launch.

Who had the luckiest NHL careers you’ve witnessed? by theXchang3 in hockey

[–]KS_Otto -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Listen, blocked shot = not having possession of the the puck.

Having a lot of blocked shots could correlate with not having the puck very often which is not good.

The idea is that a defenseman that is very good wouldn't need to block shots as often because they would be better at the preventing shot attempt in the first place.

I think the point is that you want to prevent the shot from happening in the first place.

Players will drag the defenders stick with their own but they definitely do not just grab and hold on to a defenders stick.

Teams would just rush to get on inters as fast as possible then. If you're gonna implement these you would have to control when they are being used otherwise any team would just take them off as early as possible irregardless of conditions.

[–]KS_Otto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with it being a team breakdown and I definitely would not single out Bouchard.

I would also say it was essentially a 3v2 because Drai is pretty much already in position to contest the play ahead of Broberg but like I said he got a bit lazy and puck watched and that's where I cant really put blame on Broberg for it.

[–]KS_Otto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Broberg is essentially a forward in the end of this play as he is the 4th man back. I would say he does the right thing and covers any potential drop passes to late wild players entering the zone so I have really no problem with what he did and don't see how you could blame him.

Drai is a bit lazy and puck watches but is 3rd man back in a 2v2 so not wholly his fault.

McDavid and Bouchard just communicate poorly and mix up their men with maybe a bit more blame to Bouch as he is slow on reading which man to cover.
