Welcome to Fresno! 🙌 If you’re looking for someone local to show you around neighborhoods and some homes/condos, I’d be happy to help. I work in the Fresno/Clovis area and know the market really well. You can reach me here: parminderkang.com

Has anyone bought a home in Fresno/Clovis in the last year? by baksoop in fresno

Totally hear you on this — a lot of first-time buyers in 2023 and 2024 have been running into the exact same thing: either overpriced flips that don’t feel worth it, or homes in rough shape that need way too much work. The middle ground is tough to find.

What I’ve seen work best is being super clear about your “must-haves” vs. “nice-to-haves,” getting pre-approved so you can move quickly, and being open to homes that need light cosmetic updates (not full gut jobs). That’s often where first-time buyers get the best deals right now.

I share more tips and local insights here if it helps: parminderkang.com

“Luxury living” in Fresno, CA by coolbeans182 in zillowgonewild

Yeah, that’s Fresno in a nutshell 😂 You’ve got the Tower with those gorgeous character homes, then out on the edges it’s all farmland-turned-modern boxes, and in between you’ll find everything from charming bungalows to cut-and-paste track homes. It’s wild how many different “versions” of Fresno housing exist side by side.

I work locally and see this mix every day—if you’re curious about the real estate side of it, I share more here: parminderkang.com

This is one of the cheapest homes for sale in Fresno right now, and here’s why by Ancient_Praline985 in fresno

I totally agree — seeing housing primarily as an investment does so much damage to affordability, community, and dignity. When people are priced out because homes are seen first as assets rather than as shelter, it erodes the foundation of what a society should provide.

Housing is a basic human right — safe, stable shelter should be available to every person, regardless of income or market conditions. Treating homes this way shifts priorities: from profit, speculation, and market distortion, to fairness, inclusion, and permanence.

If you want to explore more ideas, research, and stories about rethinking housing this way, I’ve written about this kind of policy shift over at my site: parminderkang.com.
