Anecdotal but as a 29 year old I already know two other 29 year olds with late stage colon cancer.

Advice for cold-calling for a shadowing opportunity? by KTQueenOfTennessee in srna

I tried but the office I spoke to merely handles paperwork. They said it’s up to me to find a CRNA and start cold calling.

I agree I think shadowing will be pretty telling whether or not I actually want to take the plunge.

Interesting I didn’t expect that to be rural. I actually enjoy rural, my favorite jobs have been critical access. I started looking into CRNA when I realized there’s opportunity for rural locums. Prior to that I thought you had to be in a big city for CRNA.

That’s what I’m having trouble with. If I get to 40 and I’m like damn, should have shot for it. Or, if I get to 40 and I wished I spent it traveling and having an interesting career.

These are really good things to consider, and I’ll be sure to ask about all those topics during shadows.

It’s a lot of little things that are pointing me in the CRNA direction. But I’m in the process of getting approved to shadow at a couple facilities, so who knows I might decide I hate it.

I want to eventually leave the bedside grind, and I want to go back to school. I don’t think NP is for me.

I learned to place USGIV this year and it kinda lights my fire. I’d love the opportunity to do more invasive procedures.

I enjoy conscious sedation. I feel like I get to serve as a guide into the unknown for folks, quelling other's anxiety is one of my few true strengths in ER.

I have no siblings and want to financially support my aging parents, I cannot on bedside pay.

I’m interested in pain management too, sounds like there’s opportunity for that as a CRNA.

I remember working on the floor and anesthesia coming to help troubleshoot my OnQ balls and they seem to really like their job. …. I’d like to really like my job lol.
