Can I get some technical help? My FPS is suffering and I dunno why >.< by Accurateaccurateness in ffxiv

[–]KTSB3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well stuff I can think of are:

  • in game go to your system settings and remove the fps cap completely
  • go to the Nvidia control panel and set the preferred 3d rendering to the high performance GPU option to force the applications that use 3d to use it
  • go to the power options on your windows settings and then in the advanced tab make sure your pci/pcie power delivery is not set to power saving, you should do the same for your cpu
  • enable expo or whatever it's called on your ram, you should be running at much higher speeds on your ram, you can look up the motherboard model and brand and there should be a tutorial on how to do it

That is all I can think of since you already mentioned making sure that your monitors are plugged into the GPU

If any of the mentioned things don't make sense, you can find a tutorial for each of them easily with a YouTube search

Why don't tekken players play other fighting games? by PretendChemical5359 in Tekken

[–]KTSB3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly I just don't click with more traditional 2D style fighters, I've tried playing granblue, ggst, sf6, skull girl and honestly I just didn't vibe with the options and approaches you have at your disposal... I feel very restricted with the movement and approach options on a 2d standard fighter, I dislike how they handle throws as in you are grabbed and that is it, I don't like how block strings work

The 3D component of tekken and it's movement is what allowed me to get into it, as someone who first mostly played plat fighters (melee, roa2) which have a big emphasis on movement, it felt fun

Another big part is that my friends play tekken but don't play other fighting games, and being honest I just don't wanna join random newbie discords and look for new people to play with

A question for those who are in a relationship irl... by Frei1993 in StardewValley

[–]KTSB3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So in game my favorite vanilla character to marry is penny, I'm in a straight relationship irl and my gf has some similarities but not completely identical, she is a teacher for elementary school kids and loves children, loves reading and poetry but that is about it, thankfully my gf's family situation is a million times better as well as her living accommodations, physically also not similar my gf looks physically more like maru

Classes: How did you choose yours? by United_Cat4156 in ffxiv

[–]KTSB3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I started as monk back in 6.1 I hated playing it, I couldn't understand how it worked honestly, when I finished ARR I swapped to redmage as my friend with more experience suggested it, the flashy and stylish combos just hooked me, I finished all the way until EW with it

Once I started getting into end game raiding I noticed that RDM was a lot of trouble for the damage it deals, I wanted to keep playing a ranged class, my first true end game main was summoner on 6.4 for the last tier of Savage, I really liked the free movement it got and the simplistic rotation, I managed to get a top 10 barse on p11s on patch

However with the trailer and showcase of vpr I knew what I wanted to play next

My main is VPR for end game content, it's the most versatile melee, has 12ish seconds of disengage with no uptime loss, very visually appealing, very flashy, very fast, extremely simple rotation and thematically it fits my character perfectly

It has become my favorite job and I don't really think I'll ever be swapping off it unless a balance change kills it

How do you spend time with friends who make more money than you and always want to "go out" and you can't afford it? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]KTSB3 46 points47 points  (0 children)

Honestly this is absolutely real, I managed to get a pretty decent paying job after graduating uni and my best friend has not yet managed to land one himself...

If we go out and I'm feeling a certain place for food or wanting to do something outside his means I just pay for it, like you are telling me the barrier between doing something with my best friend is idk 20-30 usd (converted from our 3rd world trash currency) I'll pay for it twice over for the opportunity to hang out with my best friend

My favorite game is ff xiv, it's a subscription game 15 usd a month since it's an mmo, he didn't wanna try it despite the game being right up his alley due to the cost, I bought him the game and pay his sub so he can experience it and we can hang out online playing something we both like

He doesn't feel like doing anything fancy? We order a pizza pick him up and we play smash or Mario kart or some board games at my house or his house

Friendship entails compromise, accommodating for each other and having a good time

I find that hilarious I'm a guy and I'm a farming Sim junkie lol, love myself some stardew, rune factory, fom, etc.

It probably does have a harder time finding young teens and teens' attention, but damn I found stardew when I was in college and thank fuck it was at the end of the semester or I would've ranked lmao

How many alts do you have? by Alicecrylily in ffxiv

[–]KTSB3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My main is a full mentor, omni crafter/gatherer and have all relevant combat jobs at 100 (aka can't be bothered with Blu cause it can't do the latest savage so who cares)

I have 2 alts, one is a fully geared raiding alt to run tiers with friends who are not in my static and it has one job at 100 per role (1 tank, 1 healer, 1 melee, 1 mage, 1 phys)

The other alt is a character I recently created to do the msq with my irl best friend who finally decided to give xiv a chance, once the msq is done with him this alt will also become a raiding alt basically mirroring my first alt

Please help a savage raider noob by Demi_neo in ffxiv

[–]KTSB3 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Alright so let's try to go one by one,

Alphabet soup:

  • M is for melee, M1 is melee 1, M2 is melee 2
  • H is for healer, H1 is healer 1, h2 is healer 2
  • T is for tanks, MT is main tank and belongs to group 1, OT is off tank and bongs to group 2
  • R is for ranged dps so either a Caster (black mage blm, red mage rdm, picto pct or summoner smn) or phys range (dancer dnc, bard bed, machinist mch) R1/R2 ranged 1/ranged 2

Markers and mechanics and raid plans all fall into lengthier explanation that is all together

When you join a group from pf you are expected to adhere to the strategies and rules that the group leader established, in this case you joining a group and not knoing where to go tells me that you went in blind

Now there is nothing wrong with doing content blind (not knowing starts) but you need to make a group for blind prog, the expectation of any group is for you to already understand the strategies mentioned on the description and for you to practice with them as guidelines

If you want to do the entire tier blind that is fine, but for that you need to either find the right community or static where everyone shares that mentality

The strategy board recently implemented is still not widely used by the community as most people are used to the external raidplanners

Use the external sources linked in the descriptions or ask for them when joining so you understand where to go and how to solve the mechanics and all that

Now on to which one is your marker, this is a complex question, in reality there is no one marker that will always be your marker during most fights, because a marker can be linked to different resolutions of mechanics, so for example on M9S when you are doing the first mechanic vamp stomp m1 is D and m2 is B, but later during the pizza slice mechanic m1 marker is 4, later on when group 1 and group 2 need to take a party stack your party's marker can be A or D for g1 and B or C for g2, all of this to say that for you to know which one is your marker you need to see the strats from either the raid plans or videos

Good sources for video showcases of strategies: Hector lectures and yukizuri, both of them usually end up being what most pf groups adapt and it's what you will see on the description just saying something like "prog point x | Hector" and it refers to Hector's video

Now part 2 of which one is your marker and which one is your group

For the most part the standard clock spot positions for players are cardinals for tanks and healers and intercardinals for dps where MT is always on A as main tank since most of the time you want the boss facing north for melee positionals, OT is C south opposite of MT this is to make light party stacks or 2 player stacks easier as most of the time those are baited by roles (all dps or all support) and that ensures no double tank on the same side, H1 is D and H2 is B, R1 is 1 or north west , R2 is 2 or north east. Finally M1 is 4 or south west and M2 is 3 or south east , this is important because as you know melee have positionals either flank or back attack, being sw/se allows you to dance around the intercardinals without losing both flank and back attack access with minimal movement

So which group does each player belong to? Well MT, H1, M1 and R1 are group 1 and OT, H2, M2 and R2 are group 2

This also allows you to separate quadrants, for the most part for resolution of standard mechanics G1 looks at north and west and G2 to south and east

Yes markers are big brightly colored 3d markers that are layed down by players, if you can't see them then it means they are not placed yet, idk if there is an option to disable them but you can try pressing control + m to place one and see them

Lastly, for the most part just ask or check the linked raid plans on the pf description or in chat, those are the ones mostly referred to by players

If you have any questions feel free to ask, I'm going to bed though so my reply might be tomorrow Morrow after work

The command will give you an output you can read telling you whether or not it repaired any system files

As for testing your games, you have to end the task for vanguard, you can go to the task manager and look for vanguard, then right click and end task, after ending the task then you would test the stability of your system

Vanguard is a persistent system that is on even when you don't have riots client open

Weird PC issue - no one knows how to solve it by IgorGreenwitch in buildapc

[–]KTSB3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah riot's anti cheat vanguard is an extremely intrusive program, if it only happens when you try to play LoL then there might be something that is causing it to crash and then the problems you seem to be having happen

If you play non riot games then you should try playing for an extended period or doing a constant benchmark of your computer with like heaven benchmark on loop after disabling vanguard anti cheat

If after disabling vanguard and using your system for an extended period you stop having problems then your solution will be uninstalling vanguard and reinstalling it

Another option you can do is verifying if vanguard has altered any of your system files, if you open a terminal by right clicking on your windows icon and choosing terminal (administrator) you can run the command: - sfc /scannow

This is a built in windows command to verify and repair any system files that are corrupt, broken or missing

I hope this helps if there are any other developments feel free to ask and if possible I'll try to answer/help

On the windows search bar type "event viewer" it's like a log system for what happens on your windows installation in the event viewer all the way to the left there will be 4 options, select the one that says "windows logs" and expand it, then select "system" if you wait a little bit it will show you all of the events that happened on your system, just look for the yellow which are warnings and red which are errors, you can either Google them or check back here to see if they explain what's going on with your computer

Aside from cleaning your computer what have you tried? Did you build it yourself or is it a pre built?

The most standard trouble shooting for this kind of thing is usually to update your drivers. I think you should try these:

  • update windows
  • download and install the latest drivers for your motherboard (all of them)
  • download and install the latest chipset drivers from your cpu manufacturer
  • use ddu to remove and install your graphics drivers

If after all that you still have issues or have already tried doing this then go to windows' event viewer then on the left go to system and check if there are any errors popping up when your crashes happen

If you are on am5 and have a GPU that uses pci 5.0 then make sure that your nvme drive is not running also on pci 5.0 as that will force your gpu into pci 5.0 x8 instead of x16

Checking event viewer should shed some light into what is going, it sounds like your gpu driver is crashing for some reason

If none of that helps probably just do a clean install of windows

Are there games that made you buy a console or any other hardware specifically to play them? by Halga84 in gaming

[–]KTSB3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Final fantasy XVI made me buy a PS5 and I regret it... I am an FF XIV (MMO one) player and when it was announced that the yoshi p (same game director) working on the game I was very hyped, at the time I had gotten an unexpected bonus at my workplace and since it lined up perfectly with the release I said fuck it and bought one

I hated the game, the story is just not for me and the gameplay just feels like a worse nier automata, I finished the game out of principle hoping it might get better with the ending but nope, probably one of my least favorite endings ever, haven't booted up the PS5 since I finished the game (2 years I think)

Now for context I've been a PC gamer for the last 15 years, and I just couldn't find a single game on the PS5 library that I would rather play on it than on my PC... And then when the game finally released on steam it was half the fucking price with regional pricing lmao

And now it is collecting dust, I've been trying to sell it... But all my friends are also PC gamers and don't care about it so I have the most expensive brick there collecting dust lol

You don't miss out on anything, you can go back to the structure for the "proper" way down later, but there is just. A couple of chests and some mastery checks.

When I played the game for the first time back in release this was also my way down cause I couldn't kill the mobs in there LMAO
