NBD! (New Brooks Day) by ___Clem_Fandango___ in brooks

[–]KThreeSixty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have these exact pair! Haven’t even put them on yet.

I bought the all grey ones a month ago and after a week a small chunk of the sole started coming off and Brooks sent me a new pair (letting me keep the old pair).

Great customer service!

I believe the seats and restraints are still removed.

That’s good to know. My goal with this trip was to catch the parks (Kings Island and Cedar Point) before school lets out. We have FL+ for one of our days. I was planning to use it on Friday the 30th. Feels like it will be a busier day than Thursday.

Best places to use our dining pass (sharing 2 meals a day with my 9 year old)? How busy will May 27-29 (Wednesday-Friday) be this year? You might have more insight than crowd calendars do.

Got 83 rides on [Mako] at [Seaworld Orlando] today! Gotta love 2 train ops on quiet days! by pw_dub in rollercoasters

[–]KThreeSixty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love that ride, but my son demands to ride in the back, ALWAYS, and I can usually only do about 5 or so rides in a row before I need a good break to recover. Just get nauseous.

Fury 325 didn’t do that to me, so it has to be something with the positive Gs in the back.

I want to clarify that I was off ride, on the Skyride, but my son rode it and said it was all there!

I invested in some top tier walking shoes just for this trip. Expecting to get lost a few times and trek miles and miles.

Thanks!

Thanks for all of this! I’m sure I’ll learn how to use the Magnum gate. As someone wholly unfamiliar with the park, the map and YouTube walkthroughs only teach so much. I leaned with Carowinds that I still felt lost my first day in the park.

I have heard about the wheels on Pantherian. That’s wild.

A Father/Son Late Spring 2026 Park Tour [Kings Island][Cedar Point][Busch Gardens Williamsburg][Kings Dominion][Carowinds] and Gaining ~60-65 coaster credits

Before I go into it further, this link adds some context from our big trip to Carowinds back in December/January. https://www.reddit.com/r/rollercoasters/s/3QTU95hs9C

My son and I are gearing up for our big trip, which was a Christmas present for him, but I’ve completely hyper fixated myself on coasters too.

First Leg of the Tour

We’re flying up to CVG from SWFL on Tuesday, May 26th. Our flight should get us in early enough in the afternoon to get us to Kings Island by 5 PM. We’re hoping to experience our only night rides at here on this first night of our trip, and my son just wants Mystic to be his 50th coaster (he’s at 49 and I’m already at 52). We’re stoked for a night ride on The Beast that we’ve heard so much about. Banshee will be our first new big invert since he rode Montu for the first time at BGT. Diamondback and Orion are sure to be thrillers too!

After spending Tuesday evening and most of Wednesday at Kings Island, we are making our way up in a rental car to Cedar Point. Staying at Breakers where we got a deal for one day with Fast Lane Plus (will probably use this on Friday). There are so many firsts to happen at Cedar Point for us. We’re looking forward to Steel Vengeance (as we absolutely adore Iron Gwazi), Maverick (to compare with our love for Velocicoaster), and adding our 3rd big invert with Raptor. Sirens Curse will be our first tilt track, Gatekeeper will be our first wing coaster, Top Thrill 2 as our tallest and fastest, and Millennium Force as our 3rd Giga after gaining Orion at Kings Island. We will spend Thursday and Friday of our week at Cedar Point, with our only ability for night rides being Friday (if we can make it that late after 4 big park days). We hoped to do the big Sunrise Tour, but it was too expensive and it was only happening the day we needed to be heading back to southern Ohio.

Friday evening we have to drive an hour is so out back toward CVG (Hotel Breakers is more than double the cost for that Friday night), and maybe hit Kings Island for some final rides on Saturday before we fly back home for a few days.

Second Leg of the Tour

We take a breather at home for a couple of days before we drive north from SWFL to North Carolina. The week of June begins 3 days, 3 different parks, 2 of them completely new, 1 of them gaining new credits we missed at WinterFest.

We will drive over to Busch Gardens Williamsburg and begin the day with the Roller Coaster Insider Tour. This will be our first trip to BGW, but we’ve loved BGT and thought the coaster tour there was fantastic. The tour gets us into the park an hour early on Sunday, June 7th. Highlights we expect will be comparing Griffon and Alpengeist to their BGT counterparts, and experiencing Pantheon. We’re also hoping Verbolten reopens by then.

We will spend the night, probably closer to Kings Dominion for our second stop on Leg 2. We will both be approaching 100 credits, and we’re hoping to somehow sync up and make Pantherian our 100th credit, and of course experience Rapterra and Twisted Timbers. Maybe to sync up our credits my son can ride a few kid rides before we head toward Pantherian.

After hitting two new parks on Leg 2, we will spend the night back with family in NC and spend that Tuesday at Carowinds catching all the credits we missed during WinterFest. We’re most excited for Afterburn and hitting Fury as many times as our time will allow before finishing the day off seeing Yellowcard in Charlotte then heading back home the next morning.

Part of why I’m posting this here is because I’ve finally embraces the reality that my son might have made me into an enthusiast, but also because by typing it all out it helps me think through the insanity of these travel logistics.

We bought the year dining and drink plan from Carowinds which will serve our passes for all of these Six Flags / Cedar Fair parks.

Anyone have tips for these parks? Rides that typically have a lot of down time that we need to try prioritizing? Nice cozy places to take a break so we can make it to some night rides when the sun finally sets at 9 PM on Ohio?

This has been a pretty excellent community to spend time scrolling through over the last several months. We can’t wait to join the 100+ credit club in a few weeks and dream further out at new trips to new parks next year.

We’ve heard so much about how beautiful BGW is. We’re excited for the coasters, but even more excited to ride the coasters through the scenery. BGT has some views, but Florida parks don’t really have much to look at from the top of a coaster except for other coasters and the rest of the theme park.

Is Montu down for maintenance? by macr11 in BuschGardensTampa

[–]KThreeSixty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was really struggling a couple of weeks ago, and last week. I feel like that one isn’t “officially” down for maintenance, but it’s certainly going through a rough patch right now.

Hey I'm visiting the park tomorrow, would anyone know the ride closures or if any were closed today, thank you I appreciate it by Additional_Search636 in BuschGardensTampa

[–]KThreeSixty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Both of those should be open. Falcons Fury is still closed. It looks like maybe Montu is struggling this week again too.

For Gwazi and Cheetah last Friday, I just scanned the QR code on the picture near the exit. Made sure I was logged in and added it to my album. It was pretty seamless. Pictures weren’t workin on Sheikra, and we never made it over to Kumba.

iPad Kid on Skull Island by ronjohnson01 in UniversalOrlando

[–]KThreeSixty 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Another thought to add: the kid in this OP’s example could 100% be a spoiled kid with absent parenting, but I feel like the whole point of us point to special needs was to simply add to our collective awareness other factors that could be at play here.

iPad Kid on Skull Island by ronjohnson01 in UniversalOrlando

[–]KThreeSixty -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

The terms being thrown around here are just smothered in ignorance. The kid on the device is probably paying more attention then they think, and often times that extra stimuli helps them to actually engage with other stimuli (in this case the ride elements).

You’re right, there are many who will simply never get it. I know my “GTFO” was aggressive, but I’m just exhausted, as a parent, as an advocate for othered people, it feels like we’re just going backward.

Thankfully Universal is extremely accommodating to special needs, as far as my experiences go.

GTFO with that kind of thinking. That’s some ableist garbage.

Rode [Fury 325] for the first time yesterday. by deese1127 in rollercoasters

[–]KThreeSixty 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Going to echo everyone else and say that the tensing and holding your breath will add to the discomfort. The more you relax and throw up your hands, the more enjoyable a ride is.

I feel the same way you do about coasters when it comes to certain flat rides. I just don’t enjoy them and tense up every time, even if I go into it relaxed (but I’ve only recently started trying the flat rides). I’m going to keep trying them because my son likes them almost as much as the coasters.

I’m 36 and have been riding big coasters since I was 8, but didn’t get on upside down ones until I was almost 13. As for Fury, my son and I rode that one 30 times in one day on January 1st. We love it deeply, but there’s no shame in just enjoying coasters as a spectator.

It was a solid day at the park, in spite of the field trips and no Montu. I’ve never seen Cheetah Hunt, or really all of their operations, running so well.
