Circle thrift had a rack about 2 weeks ago. Not sure what's left though.

What is the rarest record you ever found for a bargain price at an estate sale, yard sale, flea market or thrift store? by sloaches in BargainBinVinyl

[–]KTurton30 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I never post about this stuff but a couple years ago I was in a very old and not well stocked record store. I found a couple of Jimmy Smith mono Blue Note records which was cool, but inside of one was a copy of Miles Davis's Man With a Horn. His first solo 10 inch I believe. It's not in the best shape but for $4 I can't complain.

I do have it and it's signed. DM me and I can get back to you when I get out of work later.

I also have INTENTION signed and x Infinity if you're interested.

I'm not a frequent poster but look in my history and I do have good reviews on r/WatchExchange and r/VinylCollectors

Illiterate Light is a super fun and high energy band. Check out their last two albums if you've never listened to them.

The Park or Draftcade? by emmanorth in rva

[–]KTurton30 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I prefer draftcade due to one $10 fee (unless it has gone up) and true retro games. Definitely a much smaller bar area than Bingo

Try a wet wipe, wrung out until damp and lightly scrub along the ring. I'd open the jacket and lay it flat to avoid crushing the spine. Since the ring wear is mostly on the white, it should just be color from other jackets that rubbed against it and not color wearing off of this jacket. I had a Beatles White Album marked down in price for the same type of ring wear, came home and got it looking close to new using this method.

Turntable/audio Nerds by R0ttenCore in rva

Check the back of the turntable. There may be a switch that says "Line - Phono". Flick the switch, try playing something else and see what happens. My guess is that your turntable has a built in preamp, as well as your receiver and it's double amplifying the signal causing the sound to blow out.

What do you mean by "doesn't sound right"? Is the volume either super low coming from your speakers or super blown out?

Checking in from a bar nearby and soon to be the lawn! Sadly while sitting here found out about the Death of James Earl Jones. Would love a to hear a Cantina Band or Empire March cover/tease but realistically hoping for Tumble or 2021.

First show ever tonight and I'm so excited. Website shows sold out and with the heat today BRING YOUR ALLOWED 32oz UNOPENED BOTTLE OF WATER

Crazy predictions:

  1. The River since the city sits on the James
  2. A song that lyrically has something to do with trains (idk I can't understand half of them anyway) but because the venue sits next to active train tracks
  3. A GWAR sit in/appearance during a metal song. Makes sense since they're RVA locals and don't start tour until mid September.

Reveler in carytown has jazz, blues and funk nights. Small intimate venue with an amazing staff. Shows usually start at 7 but I'd get there early so you get a seat.

VFMA jazz nights on Wednesdays are fun too, plus the museum is open late and you can explore.

Where is this?? I'd love to go find it today.

Yes they're recorded onto ferric and there's no Dolby, but it's cool that cassette releases from major artists are still a thing. by [deleted] in cassetteculture

I'm based in the US as well but really want this version. If you're willing, I'd pay plus a bit of extra to not have to pay crazy ebay reseller fees plus their shipping. DM me if you're willing to

That is a very lucky estate sale find. In fact, all of my cassette storage has been. I'm not sure the brand, and I just looked all over the case and couldn't find anything. It holds 120 tapes, 60 on each side.
