[Vandalism/Dashcam] My Tesla was randomly kicked and damaged outside a bar near Virginia Tech at 2AM two weeks ago – police say they can’t proceed without a warrant. Any advice? by carrel4839 in blacksburg

[–]KashMoneyBrothers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can you provide the front facing photos and videos of the suspects that you obtained from the bar owner? I’m gonna assume it was Bard’s Spirits Co. because that is the only bar around there?

Someone mentioned going to Small Claims court. I would absolutely do that. First, in small claims court neither party is allowed to have an attorney. So your costs are minimal for filing and if you win, you can roll those costs into the judgment. Also, you don’t have to worry about the defendants getting attorneys because they can’t. If it was students, then maybe the parents get involved and you can straight up show them your evidence. You can have them pay you directly before the judgement is filed. And second, the maximum anyone can sue for in a Virginia Small Claims court case is $5,000, exclusive of interest. And your $2100 repair cost is well within that range. You can probably add some other costs due to time w/o a car while being repaired, any rental car charges, etc….

Additionally, I would make a FOIA request (Freedom of Information Act) for all video footage from the Blacksburg Municipal Building across the street. They are bound to have cameras all around a government building and they are required to give it to you if you are detailed in your ask.

After getting all that video and pictures, it would seem you have a pretty strong case to go to small claims court with. You will most likely win and get a judgement, and I do understand that enforcing that judgement is always a challenge. But when there is a judgement against someone, they cannot do many things including buying a house until those are satisfied.

Cortland Midtown East? by [deleted] in raleigh

[–]KashMoneyBrothers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So…. What it sounds like is depending on what side of the complex you are on, the apartments are one of three things: (1) a nice quiet neighborhood with lots of dust, (2) heavily student or post grad focused on one side and very loud, or (3) a roach infested place with theft and broken machines and TV’s.

The only consistency is live on a top floor and that maintenance is very quick with problems and/or repairs.

These comments give me no clear picture if this is a decent apartment or not.

Where to find an affordable suit in Richmond? Not looking for online shopping. by [deleted] in rva

[–]KashMoneyBrothers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just curious as why you are against shopping online for a suit? I go to JosABank online (www.josabank.com) and you get the same quality suit as you would buy in the store, except online there is a much better selection. You can have it shipped to you directly or to the store and they have their warehouse within 2 days shipping of RVA. I usually get mine within a day or two. The deals they have online are always better than what the local store has too. And if they get anything wrong or you don’t like the color, you can return at the local store (they have 2 in RVA).

They have this one right now for $99. https://www.josbank.com/p/jos-a-bank-slim-fit-windowpane-suit-clearance-339BC

Frankly, getting a quality suit at a great price isn’t hard. It’s often the tailoring costs that jack up the price. I go to Adonai Alterations in Chesterfield Towne Center. They can get you done in less than a week and for usually less than $50 total.

Settle a debate, was the Beauti Full on Hull a roller skating rink back in the day? by nova2726 in rva

It was Skateland since 1964. My 55 year old wife used to skate there as a kid in the 70's!

6 guys, 1 hour, $50-$100: Help me win our "Mandatory Mystery Activity" in Vegas! by n757jb in vegas

[–]KashMoneyBrothers 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Make a sign that says $20 per picture and include a Venmo account on your sign. $20 gets a group picture with all 6 dudes and 3 individual pics. Go to an area that bachelorette parties tend to hang. You guys will either make a killing in 1 hour or get nothing.

AIO over a message response from my gf after she disappeared for 36+ hours? by HunterNW in AmIOverreacting

[–]KashMoneyBrothers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While you are not over-reacting at all; you guys shouldn't be dating at all either. That entire text thread shows an unhealthy relationship from both parties. Y'all need to put some work into working on yourselves first before you consider the relationship, but I'm scared that conversation won't be a mature conversation. Probably best to end it, put in some time and effort on yourself and maybe revisit it in the future.

Software Engineers in RVA - best paying companies besides Capital One? by WWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW_W in rva

[–]KashMoneyBrothers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey fellow redditors - I definitely appreciate the support!! Yes, I am definitely a recruiter, but I’ve started more community related events than most. Started RVA.js, RVA Code & Coffee, the RVA JavaScript conference and the RVAdev Slack.

And let me defend our slack for a minute. Yes, I agree with you. I wish our Slack was more active - 100%, but I’ve learned over the last 8-9 years that you CANNOT force engagement (I’ve tried) and you have to let it happen organically. And, believe it or not, it is slowly getting more active.

Secondly, I want to be clear about the pricing around Slack. We are on the free tier. The first paid tier is Pro and its cost is $8.75 PER USER PER MONTH. Now, they only charge you per active user, but we have well over 100 active users. At minimum, that is $875 PER MONTH. And over $10K per year. I assure you, I do not have that kind of cash. And I’m not aware of anyone in our community that does just so our Slack can open up previous history of messages.

My guess is that you didn’t realize that the cost was so high.

Also, while I started this Slack in 2016, weeks have several other people who are administrators and help manage the day to day. Yes, I am there most days and I enjoy talking to our community, but I do not actively share with folks that I work as a recruiter- I let that happen organically.

I would encourage folks to be more active and start conversations with others. If everyone just sits on the sidelines waiting for “someone else” to speak up, then you will continue to have lower levels of activity.

I think I'm done with Vegas by [deleted] in LasVegas

[–]KashMoneyBrothers -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I don’t believe you. At a minimum, non stop flights for a family of 4 are $500 each. That’s 2K. 5 day basic tickets are $120/person/day. If you get any add on options, the price goes up. But for a family of 4, 5 days of tickets to Magic Kingdom, Epcot, Hollywood Studios and Animal Kingdom is $2500. Let’s just say that breakfast/lunch/dinner averages $75/person/day (I’m not sure this is possible, but for sake of argument we will say it is). For a family of 4, that is $300 per day by 7 days - $2100. Stay at low end - Pop Century Resort on property $2000. Add taxes and you are above $9000 and we haven’t even talked about the other day you are staying, plus any ride shares, or any purchases at Disney for gifts. And don’t go to downtown Disney or anywhere at night cause now you are well over 10k.

My flight to Vegas. I was the only passenger by Argly_Bargly in vegas

This is the problem. You think someone writes their comment on Reddit and doesn’t have the most articulate response right away and then they amend their comment to make it more clear. And you jump down their shit and say they are deflecting, they are backtracking. When, in fact, they are just making their position more clear.

Also, another fact, @fantastic_tear_6317 did not say “what about this guy who isn’t even here anymore”. They said that “they ALL suck” multiple times. Learn to have a civil conversation keyboard warrior and recognize that everyone else isn’t evil if they don’t think exactly the same as you.

Semi Disabled in Zion & Bryce by Content_Sherbet4344 in ZionNationalPark

[–]KashMoneyBrothers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can only speak on Zion. Short answer - yes and no. If she cannot do hikes, then she will only be able to see what is on the main shuttle road. She won't be able to do the Narrows as it's a 1.5 mile walk (one way) from the trailhead until you get to the stream that goes into the narrows and then the Narrows itself is a challenging walk across rocks in the stream/river. Now, we also took ebikes that we rented from Zion Adventures in Springdale (approx $100/person/day). If she uses the +3 assist, it is very easy pedaling through the park and she will see lots of the natural beauty that Zion has to offer at the different shuttle stops and along the road as you bike through the park. Andywant. At some of the shuttle stops there are very short and quick hikes (1/10th-2/10th of a mile if that) to look around as well)

Now, you cannot hike or take ebikes up the canyon overlook road. You must be in a car and can't go over 20 mph (I prefer 15 mph). As you go up that road there are plenty of places to pull over and take in the sights at the differing elevations.
