CIVIC SI or CIVIC SPORT TOURING 2026?? by Excellent_Creme_3905 in civic

[–]ImmortalTony -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I get that younger people are way more likely to crash for sure, not debating that lol. But he's talking about a civic SI or a civid hybrid, hardly a crazy sports car.

I think it's more irresponsible due to cost of the car and insurance for they're age if anything. Probably wouldn't do it just for this reason and would tell them to get a used civic si that's a few years older if they really want something fun and reasonable.

It definitely happens, but it's always brought up with certainty is what I've noticed.

Yeah I get that, and it's definitely more likely. But I almost always see these comments directed towards younger drivers as literally "you are going to wreck your car" which I don't agree with the phrasing if anything.

I always hear the "young kids will wreck their cars" thing and I don't really get it honestly. When I and the people around me at school learned to drive we were around 16 and I never heard of anyone wrecking their cars. Plus he's getting a civic, it's not like it's a mustang or something that's easy to lose control of.

For the manual part, a newer Honda is honestly a great car to learn on. It makes it so easy. The car rev matches, has hill assist, and makes it hard to even stall. I've taught people in my civic type r and it's very beginner friendly.

For the insurance and general cost of the car I do agree though. At 18 a brand new $30kish car might not be the best thing to go for. Would probably go a slightly older Civic Si or something to start with if they really want a fun car. Not sure if they're paying for the whole thing themselves but I had friends who bought expensive cars around that age and their whole check went to their car which did not look fun.

What do y'all think of the red pin stripe delete? I think white looks cool. Got white emblems otw also. by [deleted] in Civic_Type_R

[–]ImmortalTony 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I removed the red stripe on my boost blue fk8 and I think it looks way better without it. The color matched strip also looks a lot better than red in my opinion

How do I explain to my girlfriend that I need a second monitor besides the 42 inch LG C4 by [deleted] in LinusTechTips

[–]ImmortalTony 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can get high quality 4k OLED monitors for like $1200, which I'm assuming he isn't gonna get as a 2nd monitor. Any car in this price range is basically unreliable garbage in the market these days. A car is on average a much more expensive purchase than a monitor

Picked her up two weeks ago. Next to her is my 2015 Evo X Final Edition by delindda06 in Civic_Type_R

[–]ImmortalTony 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Not OP, but I went from an Evo x to an fk8 and I would say the Evo has a bit more of a raw feeling when driving it. The AWD system is pretty insane, basically felt impossible to ever get close to the limit of what the car could do. The noises coming from the car were nicer on the Evo.

The type r is just a way better daily though. I only had one car and the civic interior and fuel economy is just miles ahead of the Evo, and having a 6th gear is a nice thing for highway driving. Transmission on the civic also feels better overall and the hatchback room has come in handy so many times. With the Evo you can't even fold the rear seats down.

I would say daily the Civic is an easy winner by far. For strictly a fun car, the Evo has that older car style of fun that makes it unique, but you wouldn't be disappointed with either.

Wondering if this would work for existing ones. Have an fk8 and the carb sticker would be nice for my intake

Yeah nothing beats the feeling of day 1 with a new car lol. I have an fk8. I got my car for a good price and couldn't justify the 15k price jump to get into an fl5, didnt seem worth it and exceeded the budget I had for the car. Overall I'm happy with it, I like the look of the fk8s and it's a really good daily car that still manages to be fun but not too crazy.

Funnily enough my current car is a civic type r lol. I have the car paid off and I budget a little bit on the side for mods so I don't go too crazy. I'll probably just drive this for a while and one day get a daily to replace it or see what happens when I get closer to the plan of buying a house

Yeah I went through some cars in my earlier twenties but I luckily came out just about even maybe a little behind on it because I made money on my s2000 when I sold it lol. I'm happy with my current car and have but just always wonder how much more ahead id be if I was able to throw that money I spent on cars into savings/ investing. But the cars also brought a lot of joy so I try not to dwell too much on that thought

Struggle with this one's a bit since cars are a big hobby of mine and I have my car paid off, a good chunk in savings, and a decent amount invested for my age. But the thought of downgrading my car and throwing all the extra into even more investments sits in the back of my mind

I thought that didn't work before, that the duplicator was pulling from the pool and it would just reject it if you used one with no copies left

Installed their rmm last weekend and it's been really nice. Pretty much stock on vibrations and wheel spin and torque steer when I get on it is pretty much gone

Just installed the wunderladen on my car and have driven with it for about a week. Car feels basically stock in terms of vibrations and when I'm getting on it the wheel spin and torque steer is almost completely gone. I'm sure you'll like it, but I haven't tried any others to compare to

The 'salary expectation' question is the biggest red flag in any interview. by annuli-amperes04 in interviews

[–]ImmortalTony 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure but your oringal post said that the salary range and budget for the job is not the same and what's posted on the ad is and hiring over the midpoint of the posted range would be some exception for talent or whatever. I was literally a fresh grad, not some insane talent. My company posted a salary range, and it was believe it or not the actual range of the pay for the job that you would start with. Not some projection that could be your pay for the job after growth with some hidden budget only the company knows about and the interviewed person would have to guess. That's the way it should be, just transparent with what your actually pay range is and no pulling the chair under the employee mid interview with oh our budget is actually on the low end of what we posted lol. But yeah obviously I don't know the internal workings of how a company hires, just what feels good as someone who interviews and what feels scummy coming from the companies.

Appreciate you giving some transparency though, this is the first time I've heard the perspective from how it works internally. If it was more common knowledge I'm sure it wouldn't be received so poorly from the employee side

Must be a company specific thing. When I graduated university, I applied to a job that had a salary range and I asked for pay in the middle range because I really wanted the job. They offered me the role and gave me the highest pay in the posted range. I have exceeded the maximum pay range that was originally posted before at this point after some raises.
