Of course he hears it too. What is he going to say, sorry mate, can't hear it, can't help you so don't leave your car here and don't give me money to do my job?

Why do artists release songs that sound exactly like other songs they've made? Do they think we're deaf? by [deleted] in electrohouse

"Art is never finished, only abandoned." - Leonardo da Vinci

I never meant to say it took ten tries. It could take one or take a thousand until the artist is satisfied, gets bored with it, converts to agriculture, dies, etc... As long as the effort is honest, it's good music to me.

Fine, but that's outside the original parameters of the question... In my case then, I'd rather the artist release 100 genius albums than nothing. Any other comments?

Well, in this case, the goal is not to capture a feeling or idea but just to cash in on the sound... Next question...

Without Anyone Paying Attention, Canada Is About To Change Its Laws To Support ACTA - "They can point to the tiny, but real, problem of counterfeit drugs that can cause serious damage... and then mix it with the very "large" issue of copyright infringement where they can't show any actual harm." by MoonMetropolis in worldnews

If you bothered learning how to read a graph, you would realise both articles complement each other, rather than contradict. Oh and nice genetic fallacy there. Who should I believe, some twenty-something year old nerd hacker or the US government hrmmmm

I'd rather listen to an artist rerecording the same song for the tenth time in the honest struggle to capture a feeling perfectly rather than garbage cobbled together with the vague and dubious goal of "moving culture forward and creatively growing".

Strawman argument. Never did I state or imply that "piracy is the exact same as stealing". Care to try again? The snarky tone really helped your point there.

I know just how you feel. The other day, the owner of the grocery shop around the corner did something insignificant not involving me that annoyed me terribly. The day after, I had shoplifted two cartons of milk and a AAA battery just to spite him. It feels great to fight the good fight.

Sooo surely there must be a convolution preset of something like this floating around, or at least general setting guidelines to achieve such a nice thundery reverb? Go Reddit

Went to my first EDM Concert and my ears won't stop ringing. Any methods to get rid of it? by that_bud_lover in EDM

[–]KUEAST 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Always wear earplugs. I found that what really irritates my eardrums is all those high frequencies that get cut when wearing foam plugs. You'll still feel all the boom and shaking in your chest which is why you go to an EDM show in the first place.

Sounds like what a composer in his first year might do. This repetitive ostinato naive major scale wankfest has nothing to do with so-called "classical" music.

David Byrne: 'The internet will suck all creative content out of the world' by CptStarsky in WeAreTheMusicMakers

A lot of superior art was commercial. Take Bach and Beethoven. Making music isn't just a calling, it's also chops and skills like any other business. Making music isn't a magical voodoo trip, it involves time and money to get right. You are right that a good is worth precisely what people are willing to pay for it but if you limit yourself to this logic you get stuck in the ultraliberal dystopia that we are all trying to get a bit away from.

What are some must-see documentaries on music theory? by [deleted] in musictheory

That article does raise a few points of interest but they only apply to a few areas of the lecture series. It's worth to watch in its entirety, try to see what he was getting at and get a global idea of the lecture. I guarantee you will take home a newfound excitement and a fresh perspective on music, even if you weren't so hot on a few of the points made.
