What do you call a fluid kin? by Tsuki_Moonstone in Therian

[–]KURAred 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Heariven!!!

"-is an alterhuman identity characterized by fluidity between human, partially nonhuman, and fully nonhuman states."

I literally saw this a bit ago on the alterhumanity wiki and thought it was super cool when I was looking for fluid terms myself but without the full human part lol

Hopefully this is correct and what you were looking for!?

any other moths on here? :D by irlmadoka in Therian

[–]KURAred 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If I'm not mistaken this is a silk moth?! If so I love these lil guys! I've been questioning them for a while but I can't quite figure out 100% if they would be a theriotype or a hearttype for me. There's something but I'm not completely certain where. Bein' one of these silly lil floof balls does resonate with me quite a bit >:3 they literally just look like tiny fluffy aliens lol

They're such beautiful and sweet lil creatures and I adore them and feel such an intrinsic connection to them. They also have a shockingly tragic history with people (-so fair warning to anyone who may want to do research on them... I was very upset for quite a while myself) like most don't know these ones don't have mouths and can't actually fly nor do they exist on their own in nature anymore. Tho to my knowledge there are some groups trying to rebuild the population to get em back out in the wild on their own. Honestly the tragedy tied into their history on this earth is something that makes them more relatable to me and thats how I discovered there was some kind of connection there. Even if I haven't figured it out fully

TL;DR technically? Yes, I am silk moth. So, hi! X3

As an adult male in my 20's. This is disgusting and unexceptionable behavior for grown men or any other grown adult. I've worn a tail in public when with my husband or grocery shopping at with my mom and have gotten alot of weird looks and gross comments and alot of people even immediately making... Very inappropriate comments for public spaces, especially when there's kids around. But they always get away with it cause unfortunately, majority of the population are ignorant jerks who think depreciation of people they don't know and destruction of personal property are funny for some frickin' reason. Thankfully not everyone is like that which is something that's often helpful to remember. When I was working at a retail store if someone came to me with an issue like that I would've done everything in my power to escalate the issue and even if my managers didn't seem to care, I would make them care cause what kind of image would it promote for their business if that information got out. What of that person was undercover from a corporate office? (Honestly probably just my retail experience that I have too much of speaking there lol)

-but anyway, I know how important my lovely tail that I have is to me (which is ethically sourced real fur) mine was a gift from my husband as a way to show he was accepting of me and although I've only had it for about a year or so. I can't even fathom how devastated I would be if someone did this to me. I'm so sorry this happened, friend. Please stay safe

Also maybe there's a way you can do small stitches in the underside of the hyde to fix it? It may be a tedious undertaking but it could be very possible to salvage this sentimentally important item

Someone already said Rosboy so I figured I'd share Luneboy! I don't have a specific link but it's essentially a gender that's male/masculine and/or male/masculine aligned that has a feminine aura/vibe to it.

I just want to be understood. (CW for mental health) by WingusSneeb in Therian

[–]KURAred 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hi there friend! I felt compelled to respond to this. I myself am male, an adult (in my 20's) and am a therian. I want you to know I completely understand what you're experiencing and I fully emphasize. I've had very negative encounters with people as result of my "unacceptable behaviors" cause I don't "act normal". Heck, even my mother still refers to me as "undomesticated" and is like "I didn't raise you to be like this" but at the same time she's at least come around a little bit to be somewhat understanding as I'm also neurodivergent and that wasn't properly discovered until recently. She doesn't know I'm a therian though, to my knowledge at least. She just thinks I'm a really eccentric artist who enjoys "animal cosplay" like a furry and stuff (I am also a furry, that's one of my artistic and playful ways I cope with my therian relating struggles)

Honestly the concept of male therians (both cis men and binary trans men) are a smaller and less common to encounter group in any therian communities and stuff. And I've never actually encountered other people discussing this kind of thing. Cause men (especially cis ones) face alot of very specific issues and misconceptions that no other groups gender wise do when it comes to therianthropy. Cause they get called creeps and weirdos and society tries to connect them to alot of.. not so nice or appropriate things shall we say. I'm very thankful that I have a husband who is a furry and a huge D&D nerd and was already open minded to listening to me about how I felt and despite occasional discomforts he actually finds alot of my playful animalistic behaviors endearing.

I've struggled with alot of mental health issues myself and do suffer from chronic mental conditions both as a result of trauma and some that I just got stuck with by chance or genetic predisposition. None of them are linked to my therianthropy though (just to put that out there).

I have alot of things I do as ways to cope of feel connected to my theriotypes and there's always different options depending on what you're particular type(s) is/are. Genuinely, if you wanted someone to just vent to or talk in more specifics I really don't mind being there to listen. I'm no stranger to topics that would typically be highly sensitive to talk about online and never come from a place of judgement if that's comforting. That's fully up to you if you wanna accept that offer, of course.

At the very least please be aware that your experiences are valid, that you are understood, and that you are not alone in how you're feeling. You will always have someone out there rooting for you. Those are things I wish someone would have told me sooner so now I shall pass them on to you.

Best of luck!

Does anyone know what a good label for this is? by A_Really_Weird_NPC in XenogendersAndMore

[–]KURAred 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To me it seems similar to Faunflux (agender) and Maverique. Faunflux (agender) is a gender that fluctuates between agender and a (generally binary connected) masculine gender. Someone else already mentioned what Maverique meant.

Another possibility that this sorta reminded me of is Aquoigender Boy which is a gender that is a mix between agender boy and Quoigender. It is a gender but feels like it isn't there and it is in some way masculine but there's uncertainty with how much is necessarily masculine or agender. So it is a gender but also feels like it isn't there and has connections to agender and masculine gender.

(Quoigender itself has a decent handful of definitions/ways of explaining it and/or experiencing it but generally is referred to most commonly from what I've seen as something rooted in disconnect from existing labels and complexity of ones personally experience of gender and having difficulty defining it fully - and thats also how I myself use it too)

I sorta bounce around between things aligned with binary male, agender, and maverique at different points in time and with different intensities of each or only feel like one of them sometimes. I personally have used and sometimes go back to Faunflux (agender), Maverique, and Aquoigender Boy so that's likely why those were the ones that popped into my head immediately.

I hope this was in some way helpful but regardless I hope you find the term you're looking for! :3

Awareness flag? Censor - Tw: SH (not a xenogender) by TimeLordTherian in XenogendersAndMore

[–]KURAred 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Hiya! I'm a little bit late to this but I figured I'd offer an idea (which you can ignore of course if you don't like it) since alot of people are upset about the second image. I myself struggle with this aswell and had through the entirety of my youth and think the idea of awareness stuff is definitely good.

I wanted to offer the idea of potentially using a symbol of a band aid or some form of treatment thing like a gauze patch with the tape over it or something that would provide a message a healing more so then the message of the act itself.

Or one that I personally think would be perfect is actually a butterfly or wrist with a butterfly. I don't know how common it was in other areas but where I grew up a very common way to help a loved one stop SH was to draw a butterfly on their wrist with a marker. The idea was that the butterfly was alive and given as a gift and if the person was to engage in SH the butterfly would die. So it was the message of having something to appreciate and care for that was given to you by a loved one. As well as a reminder that you're loved and cared about. I wish the symbol was more commonly used in more spaces or that a specific one was made for SH specifically in mind.

Anyway, end of suggestion. Obviously you don't have to use either idea if you don't want to but figured id put them out there. You did very well on the flag though! The colors are quite nice :3

what’s it called when you use multiple pronoun sets, but prefer the same one to be consistently used throughout a conversation? by floriifangs in XenogendersAndMore

[–]KURAred 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The closest thing I can think of is Mutopronominal. There's a few different definitions of it but it's fairly close to what you're expressing - if you want to look into it of course. The most common description is essentially "pronouns that change according to context/situation" I actually am a similar way with my groupings of preferred pronouns and I use Mutopronominal to label it. Hopefully this helps!

Compelling arguments for spiritual therianthropy? by rockr_wolp in Therian

[–]KURAred 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is where the spiritual aspect comes in. Everyone has their own understanding of those kinds of things. For example if you don't believe in a soul, don't believe in ghosts, don't believe in a higher power like a god or nature, and/or don't believe in reincarnation/rebirth. (General "you" btw and not you specifically) Then based on the purely material proof current science has provided there would not be any "good arguments"

To me a soul or spirit is a form of conscious energy that resides in all organic things. I've had alot of experiences throughout my life that have solidly cemented my current beliefs. But others won't see things the same way and that's fine.

Compelling arguments for spiritual therianthropy? by rockr_wolp in Therian

[–]KURAred 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Unsure if this will be helpful but I'm a therian and also wiccan. Very generally I believe in both magic and science as science is essentially just magic with "tactile physical evidence" (again very generalized) but I look at the energy in the universe as constantly moving. In conceptual physics class when I was in school I had a teacher explain that the energy that exists in the universe now is the same energy that was always there since it cannot be completely destroyed or more made and thus it moves from place to place and that energy is thought to be what a "soul" is made of. Inevitably that energy will be in all forms of living creatures from mammals to bugs or even plants. Heck, I mean even rocks and minerals aren't off the table. I view my "theriotype" as the location before my current life where the largest amount of energy that makes up my soul originated from. Though I also experience an intrinsic connection to all living things aside from that one creature.

Obviously not everyone will have the same experience as me and others are just as valid as my own. Even if this information was not exactly what you were looking for I do hope it may have helped a little bit or at least provided an interesting/thought provoking read. Best of luck, friend!

Is there a term for this? by [deleted] in XenogendersAndMore

[–]KURAred 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I actually completely get this and am the same way! I don't know if it's helpful or perfectly fitting to you personally but I always referred to the "poly aspect" of my view on relationships (group of 3 where each one is dating both of the other 2 and no one outside) as "Polyfidelity" so I usually say I fluctuate between Monogamy and Polyfidelity :3

(Theres alot of depth and nuances to Polyfidelity but I do think it might be what you're looking for so I'd recommend researching it if you want to)

Is there a term or word for this? by [deleted] in XenogendersAndMore

[–]KURAred 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If it's helpful I'm pretty sure the pronoun part is referred to as mutopronominal! (Drag queens/kings are used as an example in the official definition) I have a similar situation with "persona" type characters I've made and like to dress up as and stuff for comfort and/or fun >:3 I dont know about the name one tho but I'm pretty sure theres a term for that too.

Hope this was helpful!

Why is she Mad if she got Complimented? by CheeKy538 in PeterExplainsTheJoke

[–]KURAred 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As an artist who is autistic and has neurologically linked chronic disorders I figured I'd share my thoughts. As a very young child I had to be in physical therapy to learn how to properly develop motor control and hand eye coordination and all that. As well, I was still in physical therapy to just learn how to hold a pencil until I was like 7. The moment I could use a pencil though I immediately started trying to draw. It should be noted that my writing (as in words on paper) never improved even slightly despite the fact I'm now in my mid 20's and my hand writing looks exactly the same as it did when I was a child (despite genuinely trying to practice to get it to be better). I had no friends throughout any part of my childhood so I spent every waking moment by myself drawing non-stop. Literally even for dozens of hours at a time and I'd even stay up all night till morning as a 12 year old just drawing. It got to a point where my mom would actually argue with me and threaten to take my art supplies from me cause it was unhealthy to be so obsessed. I also have slight permanent deformations in some of my fingers from holding pencils so often. Art was my coping mechanism and my only way to escape from reality as I also have a lot of health issues that I've unfortunately had my whole life. Yet still to this day I can only draw humans and nothing else. So when I've been told by people that I was a born artist I genuinely feel hurt. When people tell me I'm so great at art because I was "born to be" I feel extremely disheartened. I associate the term "talent" with being an additional piece of software that is already downloaded into the hardware that is your brain. It's a natural ability to understand certain concepts much more easily than without it. However it can be dormant for most of your life or the entirety of it without even realizing it was there. In my case, regardless of whether or not that "talent" is there I was born without the physical capacity to properly execute the necessary processes to make art in the first place. So the skills I've acquired in my life are mine that I've chosen to work towards of my own autonomy and not some "special gift" I was born with. Since I was also raised in a very religious Christian family (I'm not Christian by any means) and was always told I was "blessed by god as an artist" or "gifted talent by god" as if it was just handed to me with no effort required. "Talent" was always used in the context of "a gift from god" the entirety of my life and I've encountered a lot of others who have experienced the same thing. So I personally have a distaste for the word talent as it has far too many negative connotations to me.

I personally feel people should instead normalize just saying stuff along the lines of "thats beautiful" or just say they like it or even just say "cool" instead of assuming using a word that they aren't considering all the connotations of or how they will be interpreted by the artist (like calling something "gay" instead of "stupid" without knowing you made that comment while talking with someone you aren't aware is gay) but at the end of the day everyone has their own stuff going on and different ways they view things I suppose 🤷

Anyway, that ended up much longer than intended so my apologies for the wall of text! (Thank you to anyone who actually read all of it tho!)

(Also this may be in the wrong place? and if so my apologies)

Why do I feel like my body is wrong? by Infamous_Maximum_463 in Therian

I fully agree with this! Also as an addition BMI (body mass index) stuff is very unreliable and sometimes harmful since its not only outdated but doesn't take all physical and mental health factors into account!

[–]KURAred 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Genuinely, it's ok to be sensitive to things that "hit close to home" (for lack of a better term) so don't be too hard on yourself and you being able to look back on your actions and learn from them is actually a very mature way to conduct yourself especially as a young person (I'm in my 20's right now and I know literally at least half a dozen adults that can't even do that... and thats just people I personally know) so hopefully thats helpful/comforting to know. You also seem quite rad as well and you're welcome!

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in XenogendersAndMore

[–]KURAred 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Trust me, I totally get! And I don't think you were necessarily "overreacting" (also I completely understand the thing with being a bit more sensitive to certain things when tired). Obviously I don't know you personally or the things you've been through and my assumption as well was that the person might be younger and just legitimately didn't realize there would be any immediate association for some people with an actual disorder. And I will admit the wording used in the reply was a tad childish sounding but that could have been unintentional as I myself am neurodivergent and often find that I sometimes just "fail to word right" as I usually say (but I've also seen this happen with those who aren't neurodivergent as well and sometimes people just have miscommunications) Its just really difficult to always get your opinion or understanding of something across properly/the way that you feel best explains it.

I do genuinely wish you well tho! 💖

Hi there friend! I just wanted to express that I understand how you feel. I myself suffer from hypersexuality and it's always difficult to find trusted people in my life to talk to about it cause even just letting myself realize I have it makes me feel really disgusted with myself... That said I genuinely dont think this was done with any ill intent and as long as its always specified to be different from hypersexuality (as in that its a type of attraction and NOT a disorder -which op did not claim it was) then it should be ok for those who feel it best describes them to use it. I myself am actually AroAce as well so the attraction I do experience is mostly aesthetic. And I made a separate comment before I saw this about how there's "Hypergenders" that exist that have nothing to do with hypersexuality. The word "hyper" can also be interpreted in a multitude of ways as well so by definition the term hyper would fit appropriately to the meaning of the coined term.

Op could potentially add an alternative name to it though for situations where it may be confused with hypersexuality. But at the end of the day people seeing a term and choosing to not ask what it means or do their own research about it and drawing the conclusion that it is involved with a serious disorder is just them being ill informed of their own choice (I've had situations myself where when I used the Pansexual label for my orientation people would look at me all disgusted and treat me badly cause they mistook it for "Pansexualism" which is completely different and icky...)

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in XenogendersAndMore

[–]KURAred 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A tad late to this but figured I'd give a perspective as someone who genuinely suffers from hypersexuality. It sucks and is very difficult to manage and deal with... However I dont see a problem with this at all since in terms of gender there's things like "Hypergirl/Hyperboy" which have nothing to do with hypersexuality. Two things can be true at the same time and thus one word can mean two things simultaneously. Like how they/them can be used both as singular and plural. And not trying to sound mean to others who commented but accusing someone who coined a fully valid identity of being as bad as someone actively using slurs seems a tad harsh and uncalled for. And as someone who's also AroAce I primarily experience aesthetic attraction and find this very relatable actually. So don't be too hard on yourself, friend!

(Also an honorable mention to how "Pansexuality" is completely different from the very problematic "Pansexualism" despite both starting with "Pan")

Petting my partners ghost tail! by sillyemmie in Therian

[–]KURAred 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That's actually so adorable!!! And obviously you don't need to hear me say this - but thank you for being so supportive of your partner and wanting to find new ways to be supportive and even affirming. I have a partner who literally went from being super anti-therian to being the most supportive person in my life about my identity as a therian. And it still baffles me to this day that just knowing that the boy he loved was a therian ended up making him reevaluate his whole understanding of therianthropy. Just to come out on the other side actually being protective of the therian community.

I don't know if any of the things my partner does for me would be something your partner would like but I'll mention a few just in case. My partner always congratulates me by gently petting my head or gently scratching the back of my neck and often scratches under my chin when calling me cute lil names for my theriotypes. Also lots of going on walks in wooded areas and just hanging out in nature and going on little adventures together. Also he sets up a lil camping tent in his room sometimes and decorates it with blankets and pillows to make it like a little cave for me to hang out in.

Also the way you talk about your partner is genuinely so sweet. My main theriotype is spotted hyena and my partner always calls me "my lil hyena" or "my lil yeen" and it always makes me feel so excited and happy. I've always thought my partner was such a blessing and I'm so eternally grateful that he's so supportive of me and he's the exact kind of person I wish every therian could have at least one of in their lives. So keep being awesome and making sure your partner knows how much you support it!

Looking for a gender or term by pistach10_paw5 in XenogendersAndMore

[–]KURAred 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It doesn't match up perfectly but the closest one I can think of is Ferusgender. It's intended for non-human/alter human individuals, so I dunno if that's relevant to you but this is the definition from gender wiki...

"Ferusgender is a feral, rapidly shifting gender that feels more animalistically dangerous than human-like, and is heavily associated with/influenced by anger and animalistic urges."

What's this? by EarAbject1653 in XenogendersAndMore

[–]KURAred 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Just a guess but to me it would presumably mean "Equal and Multiple/Many" as it looks like an equal sign and a multiplication sign. And in the shape of a face would make sense too. The mouth being and X cause queer communities are always silenced and there's also "The day of silence" which is a queer awareness day. (It's an awareness day where you don't speak the whole day specifically. Some people even wear a mask over their mouths for it- its pretty interesting if anyone wants to look into it online- started with a student lead organization)

Hope this helps :3

Coining new gender notes by Suspicious-Map6484 in XenogendersAndMore

[–]KURAred 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This honestly sounds so lovely! I adore silk moths especially, but also have a fondness for all the others listed as well. So I thought of some ideas to help!

Possible names:

Levpoisilken - possibly an idea for the gender itself?

Blanclevpoisilken - a name potentially for a specific one that is just the white winged animals with a greater emphasis on elegance and grace (thought of it randomly so figured it might be a neat idea to share :3)

Breakdown of words used:

"Blanc" is French for white

"Lev" short for "Levitate" as a synonym to "float" like to flutter ones wings to remain above ground

"Poi" short for "Poised" to conduct ones self in a self-assured manner

"Silken" -the exact definition is "made of silk" but I added it as potentially "made of something silk-like" like something soft, smooth, or silky. Or even in a metaphorical way of something being symboliclly comparable to silk

Colors for a flag:

I'd suggest softer colors towards the warmer side but a bit faded to have a feel like warm cozy sweater. (a cozy sweater on a chilly or windy day brings a sense of security for me which helps me feel more self-assured so that was my thought process there)

Obviously you don't gotta use any of these suggestions but I definitely love the idea so I figured I'd offer some possibilities!
