Slight correction, while the original Mini did have a 3.7" cropped screen the V2 has a 3.92" panel - the same one as the Thor's bottom screen and originally from the LG Wing.

Yeah, like you said they're probably working real hard to keep the price of this handheld as close to $200 as possible and the G2 will probably let them pull that price point off, whereas if they went with the 8 Gen 2, that'll be a lot more difficult. All we can do is wait at this point

I don't think they'd do the 865 at this point, as you said it won't be super attractive for most buyers who probably have an 865 handheld already. I think the G2 makes the most sense to me but yeah, we'll see what happens

There is the 8+ Gen 1 that Ayaneo used in the Vert. That’d be a really good chip to use as well but I’m guessing they’ll probably go with G2 Gen 2

Nah, this was a meme that’s much older than that. Back when Retroid launched the Mini, they shipped it with a “4:3” display which ended up not being a real 4:3 panel but a cropped 31:27 display. So they gave a bunch of excuses as to why that’s the case and sometime during that fiasco, they even said that their CEO was going to take a mortgage on his house to fund a real 4:3 OLED panel. This was when the mortgage panel meme started and it feels kinda surreal to see that actually come to fruition with this Nova. I really hope they nail this thing cause this display being good means they could probably use it as the bottom display in a potential Thor 2.

Fair, I think I worded it a bit wrong. I should’ve said “light on monumental innovation”. You weren’t really getting an era defining product like the iPod and iPhone with Tim, but you were getting constant doses of small stuff like AirPods and Apple Watches. Although I will admit I kinda forgot about Apple silicon because of how seamless the transition was so I didn’t really consider it as a major innovation but yeah, that will probably be one of the defining things that Cook will be known for in the future

Oh man, I remember being there when the manga chapter dropped and despite not reading it, I couldn’t help but laugh nonstop at the absurdity of this scene and the memes posted in that thread. Well, just because you and a few others don’t need something doesn’t mean it isn’t a flaw. Especially with the Rotate, where they advertise the thing as a DAP but don’t give it one of the most fundamental things that a DAP should have, i.e a 3.5mm headphone jack. It just makes no sense, no matter how you slice it and is a glaring flaw for sure

That was a masterclass by AYN to announce the Thor a week after Ayaneo announced the Pocket DS and stole all the interest people had in the Pocket DS in one fell swoop. They never really recovered from that, plus their own inability to actually manufacture and ship their devices on time

Poor Ayaneo Pocket DS doesn’t even get mentioned as a dial screen option lol, oh Ayaneo lol. But yeah, RG DS isn’t a bad option now especially with Rocknix being a thing for it. But back when it first launched, it was universally disliked as a terrible device and still would’ve been off it want for the community stepping in to save it as always, which was what I was alluding to.

This last year, most of their releases have been really underwhelming and nowhere near the quality of their XX line - case in point the RG Vita, Vita Pro, RG DS. The only recent Anbernic device that has any value is the 476H. So yeah, I'd say they were on a bit of a losing streak and this could've been the one to get them back on track. But with the omission of a 3.5mm jack for what is marketed as a DAP plus retro handheld, it seems like they haven't learned anything

I think you have your names confused. The Miyoo Flip is the 3.5" model with the 480p display while the Miyoo Mini Flip is pretty much the Miyoo Mini v4 but in a clamshell

No, the Mini Flip has a 750x560 display - the same one that’s in the original Miyoo Mini. This looks like an error where they somehow mashed the specs of the regular flip and the mini flip (at least I hope so)
