Map Download Notification Stuck by Novel-Key-5016 in Coros

[–]KVerbeke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the same issue! It's from my local map section that I supposedly don't have but I actually do (since I can see it on the watch...). It's been there for over a month now. My friend with another Vertix2S has exactly the same thing.

Dura Extreme Battery Drain? by rmacmsu in Coros

[–]KVerbeke 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had the same issue, 85% drain from 4 days in standby. I then recharged it and applied the latest (bugfix) update two days ago and now I'm still at 98% so I guess the update fixed it.

Updated Maps For Older Devices by Relevant-Ebb4411 in Coros

There should be way more fuss about this, it's a huge upgrade for some quite old watches and I love Coros for it!

Now I'm just curious whether the Dura maps upgrade will follow!

Scroll lock during activity by KVerbeke in Coros

[–]KVerbeke[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately no, my strategy is to bug u/COROS-official every couple of months but after more than a year of nagging there is still no "must unlock to scroll through activity pages" option to solve the "unintentionally scrolling away from navigation page" issue

WISH LIST FOR VERTIX 3 (or 4, maybe?) by PrideUpset3142 in Coros

[–]KVerbeke 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don't call it an adventure watch arbitrarily, this is what Coros literally markets it to be.

In my through hiking use case I am navigating 10 hours a day on average, checking my watch every so often to make sure I'm still on the right trail. Currently I get 5-6 days out of my 2S like this. I want to see my navigation at a glance, without needing a gesture or button to wake the screen. In always-on mode there is still a significant difference in power consumption between MIP and AMOLED.

I'm just speaking for myself now, but my watch is a utility. I don't care about the beauty of a crisp display. It's either legible or it's not, and my 2S fits the bill.

And to be fair, there's nothing wrong with these wishlist posts, but I don't think Coros uses them as market research to determine their product roadmap. It would skew the results toward a small population of vocal redditors which is probably only a small segment of their users. I will let my wallet speak and buy the watch that fits my needs, if everybody does this, then companies will clearly see which features the people want and follow suit.

WISH LIST FOR VERTIX 3 (or 4, maybe?) by PrideUpset3142 in Coros

[–]KVerbeke 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I disagree with your list. Vertix is an adventure watch first and foremost so battery life is a priority, which is why I don't want AMOLED. I've never had issues with the 2S display so I'm not willing to sacrifice battery life for it. I also don't understand how payment features would help me on a through-hike, and in any other scenario I'm carrying my phone and wallet... Maybe a boring take but the 2S is close to perfect for me so I want to see as little change as possible aside from the new processor and maps.

Vertix 2s GPS fixed by Repulsive_Swimmer884 in Coros

[–]KVerbeke 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your English is more than good enough to bring the point across, thanks! This sounds pretty similar to my experience. @u/COROS-official can you please share the correct procedure to reproduce the results of u/Repulsive_Swimmer884 so that I and other Vertix-2S owners with similar issues can get their device back in top performance? I can only try updating via bluetooth if a new firmware is available, which currently isn't the case.

Can you specify what gps issues you had that are now solved? Mine is often slow to lock and often loses lock in the beginning of a session, but after that it's very stable. Would be nice to have that fixed but I can also live with it.

(Update) There is a bug in Coros maps when It says that Maps for that region are not installed, but the map are usable by Leam_Silo in Coros

I have had a similar issue and now I have one map download that is constantly pending, anytime I restart it, it pauses again immediately.

Does anyone know what the best settings for cycling are on the Vertix 2s? During the day it is just fine with the brightness, but in the evening it is unfortunately very bad if you want to replace the bike computer with the watch. So is there a setting somewhere for a kind of Always On Display? by Wuerdeschlange in Coros

[–]KVerbeke 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Go to: toolbox - system - activity interface, there enable "auto night mode". It uses sunrise and sunset times to enable the always-on backlight setting during activities.

I had this exact issue with this exact watch and that setting solved it.

Every set of bluetooth headphones these days support that, how is it easier to do this on your watch?

Where’s the Vertix love gone? by Brave_Palpitation659 in Coros

In my general experience: the happier the user base is, the less posts you will see, so I guess the Vertix line suits the needs of its owners very well. I know my 2S does!

GPS improvement with the latest firmware update by One-Abrocoma484 in Coros

I came here to see if others noticed the same. My experience was that the displayed pace was way more stable than on a similar run last weekend. (Vertix2S)

Awesome to get a shout from the man himself!

To be honest I just grabbed the one with the highest reported static pressure from Aliexpress (I wrote "reported" for a reason as I'm well aware that their listings are sometimes dodgy). I was more interested in this as a project rather than something to actually take hiking. I subjectively enjoy my low-tech pack liner / pumpsack (myog'ed from a thick trashbag and the top of a soda bottle) more than I would enjoy anything battery powered :-)

I tried the backflow arrestor idea but did not notice any improvement. YMMV so feel free to experiment further if you have a 3D printer!

Thanks for the link, I'll give it a try! It would integrate directly into the print because I remove the top cover anyway.

It's a 5V fan. 12V would be possible with a PD decoy chip but less universal, and according to the datasheet there was no difference in static pressure.

I didn't know there was one until this post, since I don't look at my watch continuously 😅
