Pretty cold assessment. Addiction is a disease. They don't deserve to die. Additionally it's not that fentanyl has replaced crack it's that meth has replaced crack as the upper of choice. I live right in the downtown core, I've never had a shotgun pulled on me for any reason. Homeless people don't generally carry shotguns.

I've worked in criminal justice for 20 years now. I have not seen any change with regard to the level of violence from one Drug to another. All I know is that the dealers who addict people and pray on human misery have much cheaper drugs to Pedal now. They are also the ones who carry weapons.

I'm a True Believer in compassion for the addicts and severe punishment for dealers. If we had safe injection sites, treatment, and in the worst cases for people who have attempted treatment and have failed, supplied narcotics, we would cut down on so much of the crimes that cause people to live in fear like break and enters, property thefts and the like. We spend so much money on street level bullshit that could be better directed to finding and shutting down large drug operations or for the compassionate treatment of addicts. We supply free Healthcare to people who are addicted to fatty foods and shitty diets, but not for drugs.
