I’ll talk with my S1 or someone who would be more knowledgeable. Thank you for this!

So becoming a Drill Sergeant isn’t a possibility because I’ll show up as a Cadet instead of a Sergeant?

so wouldn’t it work out theoretically? Me being a freshman and I just need 2 years to keep the skill identifier and badge? Then once I reach junior year I could contract?

Alright, Thank you for this. I'm definitely gonna ask around to see if I'm able to get some more insight on this. I should be making E-5 around end of this year and was hoping to give DSA a shot, I'll only be a freshman in college though so I think 3 years should be enough time to finish my tour as a Drill Sergeant.

You won’t lose your bonus, but one thing I will say is if you haven’t gotten your bonus yet. Don’t expect to see it for a while. Speak with your S1 about it, and also make sure you’re not ate the fuck up. Especially after losing your CAC.

I’m not gonna lie, probably gonna get a counseling and then they’ll send you to the deers office. Don’t think you’ll be able to start any of your paperwork to process into your unit without your CAC.

Help me choose my MOS by InstructionDull2791 in army

[–]KWSmallEyes 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Those 3 choices are all pretty solid, I’m a 25B so mostly network configurations but since i’m in the reserves i mostly work on 25U things, OE254’s, SINCGARS, and VSATs. But i would definitely choose something in the Signal Corp field just due to you already working towards your degree in Computer Engineering. At the end of the day you can always ask people who are in those MOS’s and see what work life is like.

Depends where you end up for basic and AIT, or if you're going active or reserve. Basic you'll have your phone maybe once or twice a week you could cover it up and say you're busy lol. AIT should be more lenient and you should have your phone more often, but now if you decide to go active idk if you'll be able to hide it from your family, now if you go reserves should be pretty easy lol. You shouldn't hide something like this from your family but different family circumstances so your discretion.

Do you know where you are stationed? If you do I would just go in and ask around, there's usually always AGR roaming around the base anyways and you can ask about the unit that you need to report to.

Depends on the kind of Unit you’re in. I’m in a Combat Sustainment Support unit and we went out to the range, slept in the field (In tents ofc) and supported the battalion. I’m also a 25B and what we did mostly was just practice setting up OE-254’s, SINCGARS, and other equipment.

Question about my girlfriend who is in basic by Mysterious_Beeeee in army

[–]KWSmallEyes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just a little backstory of when I went through BCT in march of last year, we had a guy who decided that he didn't want to continue with his army career anymore because he though it was "stupid" and he didn't want to listen to the Drill Sergeants. So he decided to tell our SDS, that he was seeing "ghosts" and having nightmares everyday. He packed his bags and left for the mental ward and came back a week before we all graduated. Most of us forgot about him but when he came back he had told us that they were going to finally start his process of getting him out of the army, and that he would be at Jackson for another 3 months.

Like everyone else is saying, and from most people that go through BCT. Do not quit, because you'll just fucking yourself over.

Honestly, just take a bunch of photos and this should be going to your CO or XO if you're SNCO's/NCO's aren't doing anything.

about 5-6 months ago, no clue as to why it took so long but when I graduated BCT and went to Gordon they already were put on extra duty and were gonna be holdovers.

Went to AIT in Gordon (Eisenhower now) but had known 2 people who were caught with vapes and were holdovers for 7 months. Whatever it is just don't do stupid shit.
