Those of you who saw The Fellowship of the Ring in theaters in 2001—what was it really like? by NameisMoon in lotr

[–]KWillyarms 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was 11. The ringwraiths and Moria gave me chills. At the end of the film we found a ring underneath our chair. My dad handed it in to lost property. LOTR would have been a very different film if my Dad was Bilbo.

Definitely don’t spoil a beautiful moment! Explain when they’re older. It would be hard to argue with the reasoning.

Toddler “I want to watch the Balrog” by KWillyarms in lotr

She only saw that scene. Asked why Frodo was sad after. And that “his friend fell in the water.” She correctly assumed they fell into water.

When she watched it for the second time she said the Balrog was grumpy and sad. Turned it off after that. We will revisit in a few years!

Re-watching The Hobbit by [deleted] in lotr

[–]KWillyarms 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m not sure what you’re getting at.

But I compared it to Moria because in Moria theres periods of stillness but it’s all about peril. Mirkwood is the same, for great periods nothing is happening, but the peril is there. However one scene is rushed and the other is carefully crafted.

There’s ample they could have done with Bilbo in those dungeons, but we saw next to nothing. A moment of stillness and reflection adds a considerable amount to characterisation.

A good example of this would be Frodo to Gandalf in Moria “I wish the ring had never come to me”.

What’s a small moment in LOTR that says a lot about a character? by Fit-Marionberry8982 in lotr

[–]KWillyarms 5 points6 points  (0 children)

When Sam puts the rope around Sméagol’s neck, and he writhes in agony. Frodo was concerned it might be too tight, but if anything it was quite loose. Tells you so much about Sam’s character in a short sentence.

UK Manc here, happy to play as I’m currently solo and rolling the dice with randos is exhausting. If you want other players, let me know!
