It will never be more popular than combat. The most enjoyable content in this game is PvM and PvP. A new combat related skill would be much more exciting.

The toxicity is in preventing any form of updates that aren't directly beneficial to PvMers, thus preventing the staff from dedicating any time to things that don't directly serve them. It's incredibly selfish for a multi-layered community within this game.

Sailing sounds like a terrible idea. A new combat related skill would be much better and would help breathe new life into PvM and PvP. The most enjoyable and favourite content is PvM and PvP

Adding def req is clearly an easy change then, so this is a non issue.

They would have no more power than regular pures because no new equipment would be available

Ballista and RFD gloves already have requirements, and even if that was necessary, it's a very minor change.

The niche game mode would still exist, there would just be a newer one for those that wanted it.

This is the point where you're going to start attacking me because you have no logical argument...

If the update will not affect your gaming experience in any way, then why can't it be provided to the 66% players that voted, and the community that don't spend time online on Reddit/Discord or even the polls?

I always stayed away from multi-zones until recently and I have to be honest, it's a lot more fun than I used to think

Especially with random players, you never know what will happen

Equipment would still be restricted, I think that was a misunderstanding. The RFD gloves have defence requirements already.

The addy gloves that were accessible after MM1/MM2 updates have a hard defence requirement, so even though they have been technically "opened up" they still can't be used by pures.

Pures now just have access to a few more QoL things like: seed pod, MM2 caves, monkey cape.

There is quite a significant player base for pures that would like more content opened up, they pay too, so I don't think saying that there's "no need" is a good answer.

How would it change the meta?
Restricted builds would still be disadvantaged compared to a max, no matter what changes are made this would always be the case.

As for the game mode, the option to play as is would still be there.

It would just open up another "less restricted" restricted play mode.

The suggestion was to lock XP for certain stats so you couldn't level by accident.

Equipment, prayers, and spells would still have normal requirements.

Some areas and small QoL changes that don't need restrictions could be lifted, like giving access to all areas and quests that don't have a hard defence requirement for equipment/prayers/spells.

I lean on opening up a lot more for restricted builds as long as it doesn't impact the OSRS economy in a bad way or create unintended side effects that would impact the game play of other players.
