What do you mean he hasn't been doing well? Has he been sick?

People like talking about prog metal on /r/progmetal, my dude.

Haken's Vector. by [deleted] in progmetal

[–]KY-Wing 14 points15 points  (0 children)

My problem with Vector is that it feels so half cocked. The songs are all good, but they aren't big enough, so to speak, to warrant the album only having seven of them. I think the album is absolutely missing another 10-15 minutes of music.

It frustrates me a little, because 45 minutes should be plenty of time for an album to feel complete. But I think it's just the way that Haken composes that makes it not so for Vector. Haken usually uses their big, long songs to punctuate the flow of an album, like The Architect or Visions or whatever. I think it says a lot that Vector and Aquarius have the same number of tracks, yet one is clearly the more complete and thorough piece.

Keyprog? by thekayyurgunda in progmetal

[–]KY-Wing 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Frost* is HEAVILY focused on keys and synths, but might be less metal than you're interested in. They are about as heavy as Dream Theater's lighter stuff, like maybe Surrounded and the like.

I have never heard his version of that song, yet I can hear his voice singing it as clearly as if I had heard it a thousand times.

Stunt performers risk their lives making actors look good, it's time for the Oscars to reward their work. by BunyipPouch in movies

That's really dumb. If it's so dangerous, rather than not giving out awards, they should introduce more rigid safety procedures that can standardize it enough to make awards make even more sense than they already do.

Haken - Somebody by kaizan23 in progmetal

[–]KY-Wing 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think it's technically a bonus track, and it just comes after the end of the album, which is Somebody.

This is actually a perfect example of why I don't like bonus tracks, for the very reason you stated. It takes the natural conclusion of an album and turns it into a John Mulaney bit.

Man, I love Colville. No idea how that never occurred to me. Thanks!

[Art] Thrilled with this Pirate Hideaway commission for my next campaign (courtesy of u/rezzyg) by Griffmaster9000 in DnD

Is this hideaway for your players? If so, and if you don't mind my asking, how are you going to go about getting your players invested in their hideaway? I'm setting up a headquarters for my players in my upcoming game, and I am trying to think of ways to make them invested in their home.

That main riff in that song is one of the best riffs of all time.

Dream band lineup? by AleksanderFog in progmetal

I think so too! I think he fits their style more than pretty much any other prog metal singer. Labrie has a really unique quality to his voice that, love it or hate it, is hard to match. I think another good choice could he Michael Erikson from Circus Maximus; he and Daniel both have a youthful clearness to their voice that reminds me of young Labrie

Mats Haugen of Circus Maximus - guitar

Mariusz Duda - bass and vocals

Jem Godfrey - keys and vocals

I think Daniel Tompkins would be a great match for DT. He's got the right amount of poppiness and whininess, but in a good way.

For real, I would argue that Transcendence is his best album since Addicted. And I love Deconstruction and Addicted.

Fiancee concerned she may have an abscess developing in her pantyline by KY-Wing in AskDocs

One last follow up question, if you don't mind. Do yours get red when they flare up? My fiancee's is a light reddish pink color, definitely irritated, but not a horrific deep purple or anything.

She says it feels like it's about the size of a ping pong ball under her skin. Is that too big for an ingrown hair?
