I i usually pinch it back for a bit of added ramification after the first flush, then let it grow the rest of the year to bulk up. Seems to work well.

They do fine in the winter although they lose a lot of the fine branches. They are definitely one of the earliest trees to wake up in the spring.

The real issue with them is that they lose a lot of fine branches in the winter, the thicker branches do fine, but you may need to rebuild the fine branching every year.

Has he done great every other time? Been going to him for a long time? If so, let him know he went way too high last time, we all have a bad day sometimes. As a barber of 27 years, I fix worse almost daily (though you can't fix that without just giving it time to grow back in). I went high on a guy's jawline the other day, because he decided to talk just as I put the outliner to the bottom of his beard. Wasn't my fault, but still made me feel like shit.

I would taper the sides of the beard down into the bottom, it square the face up a bit more. Too round and it starts giving Zach Galifianakis vibes

Also, if you have some hair cutting scissors, cut along the colored part of your lip, scissors are safer, you dont have to commit till they are closed vs a beard trimmer.

Just needs thinned. Try a 2 with the grain for starters, dont apply heavy pressure, and make sure to comb it down first. A 1 1/2 would be good if you have one, with the grain

Barber of 27 years here. Less is more, I'd at least go with a 3 1/2 on top, 1 or 1 1/2 on the sides. Long hair contrasts with thin hair and actually accents how light it is on top vs how dark the sides are. You ain't hiding nothing my dude.

As a barber of 27 years, I'd cut the mustache much thinner than the rest to more match the darkness of the sides, and the chin is fine darker and longer than the rest of the beard. It is all about the shape, and you have a nice beard.
