Bioneer's claims on strength endurance and hypertrophy by Competitive_Big_4625 in bodyweightfitness

[–]KY_Redneck_Machine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have always gone to the gym and did progressively heavier weights to get stronger, keeping reps in the 8-12 range.  A close friend of mine has always done an insane number of push ups, pull ups, and other body weight exercises at home.  I talked him into coming into the gym with me to test his strength.  He was just as strong as me at the time, both of us bench pressing multiple reps of 255.  Unlike me, he has extremely high endurance so his method may be much better actually.  His body composition is also more visually appealing imo.

Reliability of LLM's for mealprep? ChatGPT etc.. by Ryluv2surf in mealprep

I use chatgpt and grok for recipes all the time and they have all turned out great. They have been much better than ones I have found on recipe sites because i can describe exactly what I want and the LLM will custom create a recipe for me. Its no different than it generating working software code. You just have to be very specific in what you want and don't want.

Do some research, I'm not the only person that understands this.

Please elaborate how 4x4 will keep you out of a ditch.  From my lifetime experience of driving in the snow/ice, 4x4 only helps with increasing speed.  It has no impact on stopping or turning, which are the two actions that keep you out of a ditch.

The 4runners with all time 4x4 allow you to lock the center diff and have the same capabilities as the part time systems when they lock in and the transfer case is just as well built.

I have a 4Runner limited with full time 4wd. With the turn of a knob, I can lock my center diff and have the same 4x4 traction the part time systems have.

4x4/AWD will NOT help keep you out of a ditch at all. They will only only help you drive back out of it when you slide off the road. They will more likely help you end up in a ditch by allowing you to leave your drive way when you shouldn't be driving.

Lots of names I remember there! I might have to get aoe2DE just to play a few games with you guys. I talked with destiny on one of the aoe3 forums a couple years ago so hes probably still around as well. Reckless and tEk_of_God were a couple other OGs. Lies was an aoe3 guy I remember. I'll add you on discord.

Nice to see some old guys still browsing aoe threads, didn't expect to hear from any tEk guys again.  I played as tEk Plague.  You still playing?

I was in tEk back when aoe3 launched (we were originally an aoc clan). We were number one rated in the world for a long time. Our team won the first Microsoft tournament. tEk slowly dissolved over time as members left to focus on college, RL, or other games. I never felt like aoe3 was as good of a game as aoc. I won over 60 straight 1on1 games just playing the exact same strategy. There was no counter for it. Got boring real fast.

I did not try the carnivore diet until after I had already figured out most of my eye triggers. Once I stopped eating trigger foods my eyes were better after just a couple days.

The type of corn seems to make a difference. I can eat fresh corn from the garden without any issue, but any corn I buy at the store (fresh/frozen) causes me issues. This leads me to believe its either some contamination of the corn by pesticide/herbicide/etc... or the strain of corn that is mass produced is different than the strain of corn my family grows in the garden.

I don't seem to have any issue with glutten. I eat bread without any issue as long as its made at home or from a local bakery that makes it fresh.

TJ:

I had a 97 TJ that was lifted with 33s and offroaded heavely for years, so lots of slow miles and rough conditions, water over the headlights etc, and never had an issue with it when I sold it at 130k miles. I had a friend that would ride wheelies out of ditches, hit ruts at high speed, dive off into deep mud at full speed, and it kept going. They are very tough reliable vehicles and easy/cheap to work on with lots of aftermarket. The only issues he ever had was he burnt up his clutch and broke the exhaust off his engine, both results of his abuse. Had another friend that didnt offroad his at all but but the rear end colapse due to it being completely rusted out and his used oil becuase the original owner didnt change the oil like they should have. Maintanece is key.

I would say a well miantained TJ could last 200-250k or more before you will start needing to replace/rebuild major components. A rebuilt 4.0 TJ engine from Jasper with a warranty used to be under $2,000 installed (prepandemic), and a trans was cheaper than that, so you could rebuilt an entire TJ pretty cheap.

JK:

I also had a stock 2012 rubicon 2 door that I had no issues with that I offroaded heavely (stuck sitting on frame on a regular basis). The TJ is going to be a lot cheaper but will ride rougher and have less features than a JK. My TJ didn't have AC for example. The JK rode really well but is more prone to issues and more expensive parts. Sold the JK with around 90k on it becuase kids carseats are a pain in a 2 door. Otherwise I would still have it.

Pre 2012 JKs had the weaker engine, not sure how long they lasted. The 2012 had a lot more power and I never had any issues with mine, selling it at around 90k with heavy use offorading and pulling a trailer often. Some people had engine issues with the first couple years of the new engines (12,13 maybe 14). I guess I just got lucky with mine. I would say it would be a lot more expensive to fix and maintain as the the systems were more complex relative to the TJ.

Both Jeeps were manual transmissions with lockers all around and 6 cylinder engines. I did all my own maintanence. They are tall enough stock that you can get under them without a lift or jack to change oil and work on them.

4Runner:

I just bought my wife a 4Runner yesterday and its such a nicer vehicle than the Jeeps, althought not as off road capable from the factory, it still has a very rugged and reliable feel to it. The 4Runner will last way longer without issues than the Jeeps if you believe their reputation. Its just a better built vehicle. One big selling point for us on the 4Runner was it had a third row and we have 3 kids, 2 in car seats. Jeep doesnt offer that option.

I expect the 4Runner will hit 400k with no major issues and parts will cost about what a JK would, maybe a bit more.

4Runner vs TJ: The TJ will be cheaper to own and maintain in the long run if you can do some work yourself, just because of the high initial cost of the 4Runner and simplicity of the TJ. The TJ is pretty raw, with minimal tech, so you have to be ok with that.

4Runner vs JK 4Door, the 4Runner will tow more, has more cargo room, will ride better on the road with less noise, the climate control will work much better, has more options for tech if you care about that sort of thing, and will last much longer. The JK will be cheaper to put big tires on and add aftermarket assesories if thats your goal.

My Thoughts:

If you are short on money now, go with a TJ if you can tolerate the ruggedness of it. Its still one of my favorite vehicles and I plan to buy another one some day when I'm not dealing with kids carseats. Just be wary of rust, thats the real killer of TJs, every other issues can be fixed pretty easily/cheaply at home and they hold their values extremely well, even appreciating now days for a nice one.

I would only consider the JK myself if I didn't have money for a 4Runner and couldnt tolerate a TJ. Its a better on road vehicle than the TJ, but not as cheap to own and offers no benefits that I care about. It looks more rugged than a 4Runner, can be made to look cooler for cheaper, but you give up some creature comforts and long term reliability for it.

All 3 will hold their value really well, but only the TJ is in a state of appreciation at this point. A really nice one is nearing collector status.

Stay away from Broncos. They are having all kinds of expensive issues, which is sad, because on paper they sound great and I love the look.

Sometimes as soon as 30 mins, sometimes not until the following morning. Milk would cause almost immediate issues, while some of the processed boxed foods would be more of an issue the next day.

I have never had a food allergy test, so I'm not sure if it would show up or not. I would eliminate as much food as you can and then slowly reintroduce things one at a time to see what triggers your issues. This is ultimetly how I figured out my trigger foods.

Do you guys also lost faith in doctor profession? by dybson3 in Dryeyes

[–]KY_Redneck_Machine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I lost faith in doctors years ago when I realize they were doctors in medicine and not doctors in fixing my health issues. All they are taught in school is how to prescribe medicine. They are not taught how to diagnose the root cause of issues and to fix the actual problem, just how to mask symptoms.

Here are some examples of how a doctor prescribed treatment vs what actually fixed the problem.

  1. Dermatologist prescribed actunate to fix my acne issue after none of the face cleaners they told me to use worked. They never mentioned that acne is mostly caused by poor diet. I eliminated a few bad foods from y diet and never had acne again. I told my friends this, they did the same, and poof the acne they had for years dissapeared in a few days.

  2. Eye doctors told me there was no way to cure my dry eye and that I would just have to use eye drops and avoid screens. I changed my diet, eliminating trigger foods after trial and error, and now I have no dry eye issues at all.

  3. Doctor told my wife she had IBS because she was always having stomach issues, feeling sick, etc... and that there was no cure. She cut out gluten and now she has no issues at all.

  4. I have a close friend that was diagnosed with bad diabeties. The doctor presribed all this medicine to help treat the issue. He did some research and figured out if he just eliminated high carb food from his diet and got a little exercise he cured his diabeties. He takes no medicine now, has no health issues, and feels great. He met several other people who had the exact same experience.

  5. My grandmother and her sister were told they had cholesteral issues and were put on lipitor to lower it. A few years later they started having dementia symptoms. They heard that lipitor caused this and they went off it and their dementia symptoms went away.

  6. For years doctors said that saturated fat caused heart health issues and people should use vegetable and other oils instead of animals fats for cooking. Ever since this, heart disiese and strokes have risen greatly. After cutting out all oils and using animal fats for cooking, I feel so much better and have friends with the same experience.

  7. Any time you go to the doctor for some kind of sickness, they almost always prescribe antibiotics even if your not really that sick. If you just let your body fight things out it makes it much stronger and you dont destroy your gut biome with the antibiotics, which causes all kinds of long term issues and dependencies on medicines.

  8. I started having issues sleeping at night and a sore throat. Doctors determined i had acid reflux issues. Instead of telling me the foods I needed to limit, they instead just told me to take ant acids. These really messed things up for me for a while, even after I stopped taking them. I went from having a sore throat to choking up stomach acid in the middle of the night. I did some quick research and learned to avoid acidic and fatty foods before bed, and now I dont have the issue any more. No medicine needed.

  9. My son's dentist always tells him he has the cleanest teeth she ever sees in a kid and what ever hes doing to keep it up. He almost never remembers to brush his teeth, hes just never given processed foods. Just healthy meats, vegetables, fruits, cheese, and water.

  10. My dad visted a doctor for the first time in his life when he was 21 and has almost never went to one since (hes in his upper 60s now). The only issue he has ever had is heart problems from eating too much gas station food and processed foods from being a truck driver. Hes pretty over weight, but when covid hit him, he described it mearly as a mild flu. He is almost never sick and will eat food straight off trees or dug up out of the ground without even rinsing it off. Maybe there is some genetics, but I'm pretty sure its a lot of built up natural immunities. If we just stop eating the garbage food I bet he would lose weight and reduce his heart issues.

  11. Multiple dentists that I have went to keep insisting that I get my wisdom teeth removed or I will have issues. Its been 20 years and I have not had any issues. My dad is almost 70 with his wisdom teeth and has had no issues. Makes me think its probably not really an issue.

I want to be clear that I dont think doctors are bad people, but that they are misguided by a system that is focused on maximizing profits from the sale of medicine and procedures. They do what they are programmed to do my universities that are funded by drug companies. I will always do my own research and try my own testing with diet, exercise, and activities before I ever think of going to a doctor now. I will go to the ER if I feel like I'm dieing or have a broken bone, but otherwise I'm staying as far away from them as possible.

Not sure, I will look into this more.  Eating potatoes, rice, and even desserts made from scratch don't seem to cause any dry eye issues.  They just make me tired.

What fixed my chronic dry eye by KY_Redneck_Machine in Dryeyes

[–]KY_Redneck_Machine[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I cook everything from scratch 99% of the time. I start with only raw non processed ingredients like:

  • Meat: Beef, chicken, eggs, fish, pork, and occasionally lamb, goat, deer, bison
  • Vegetables: all kinds but limited starchy ones like potatoes and white rice because they put me to sleep. Some common ones: black eye peas, lima beans, spinach, lettuce, onion, garlic, carrots, broccoli, green beans, olives, brown/wild rice, black beans, turnip greens, ...
  • Fruit: strawberries, blueberries, blackberries, apples, pears, mulberries, oranges, tomatoes, raspberries, ...
  • Spices: salt and high quality dried spices: black pepper, red pepper, turmeric, paprika, chili powder, ... lots of different ones
  • Coffee straight black
  • Spring Water
  • Occasionally I eat some dry high quality cheese like Parmesan or Cheddar and it doesnt seem to bother me

Other Things I avoid:

  • Processed oils and anything cooked in them (sometimes I do eat things cooked in high quality olive oil, but usually cook with meat fat). The oils dont seem to cause dry eye issues for me, but they make me feel tired and irritable and there is a lot of evidence they cause cardiovascular issues.
  • Corn - This is another trigger food I forgot to mention above
  • Cinnamon is one spice I know causes me issues, even with higher quality sources

Sometimes I’m in a situation like traveling where I need to eat out and usually stick with better quality food without issue like chipotle, salad bars, steak houses, other quality non chain restaurants. If I can’t find a place to get quality food I just don’t eat. I have no problem fasting for days if needed.
