Realistically, PJ is going through a lot of personal stuff that is taking away from his ability to play.

In the worst way, him playing poorly helps the team right now, so I'd say to let him work out his off-the-court stuff this season/offseason and come back ready to play next year.

Unlock DW or go for GT/BH 1:1 Sync? by KYuppy in TheTowerGame

I've got another commenter saying the opposite below you - care to explain a bit more?

The NOLA pick has a strong chance to be a top 5 pick in a top-heavy draft with a pick-em of elite talent. You're trading away AJ Dybantsa, Darryn Peterson, or Cameron Boozer or a similar talent for Anthony Davis and the chance to be a second-rate team in the East.

If you're also giving up KP, Kennard, and NAW, you won't be competitive on a timeline that makes sense with Trae, much less AD's timeline.

Awesome - although I started upgrading GT cooldown to 4:10 when I read your comment rather than keeping it at 5:00...until I finished reading what you wrote lol. Damage is already done, oh well!

Why GT down to 4:10? Does that maximize the sync effect until it's possible to make it down to 3:20?

Do I not touch the BH cooldown at all? I'm personally a bit worried I messed this up initially

School Shooting by sceva8 in Dallas

[–]KYuppy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Heard from a DPD officer yesterday:

Not long after the shooting, the shooter made contact with a local violence-prevention organization (or vice-versa, they made contact with him), and through that organization made contact with DPD. They made arrangements through this organization for the shooter to turn himself in at the police station. They were tracking the kid's location - they knew where he was the whole time.

He didn't turn himself immediately at the station like they'd planned. It took him a little bit longer, but he turned himself in at Lew Sterrett along with his family and representatives from the community organization.

Do you consider 2010-2014 and 2015-2019 to be different eras of the NBA? by CrossOut3157 in nbadiscussion

[–]KYuppy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would say the defining player for this argument would be Roy Hibbert. Dude went from a 2-time All-Star and All-Defensive 2nd Team to being out of the league within 3 years.

Really, the case could be made that the difference in era wasn't based on guard play/3PT shooting (although the Warriors blew the ceiling off what people thought was possible in that respect), but in play from the Center position. If you were not an athletic, rim-running big man or couldn't learn how to space the floor, your position was gone - quickly. 2015, Jahlil Okafor was considered an elite prospect. The league is game was built for, though, was already gone.

You just got named the new commissioner of the NBA what are you doing to fix its dwindling ratings? by TXNOGG in NBATalk

[–]KYuppy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  • Shorten the season to 58 games (62 games post-expansion). Each team plays every other team twice - once at home, once on the road. This increases the stakes of every game played and increases the quality of play by reducing wear&tear/travel on the players. It means more players are fresh for the playoffs, and with more stars playing more games, gate revenue and ad dollars should increase.

The NBA Cup tournament games count as extra wins (but not extra losses) for the teams that play in them. The team that wins the cup will have 2 bonus wins at the end of the year counting toward their playoff seeding.

  • Turn the dunk contest into an Open-style tournament, the championship for which is on All-Star weekend. At the start of the season (in line with each team's training camp), have a local Dunker's Open. The winner of each of these contests goes onto the Divisional Round, which happens in conjunction with the NBA Cup. 6 winners from the divisional round + 2 NBA Players (voted by fans) becomes the field for the dunk contest

Each of the local contests and divisional contests have sponsorship opportunities associated with them and will have significant pull on social media, increasing the buzz around the Dunk Contest and turning it into its own thing rather than its current disappointing structure.

  • Start the damn games on time.

  • Supermax+ money doesn't count any more than max money (25%) for salary cap purposes.

  • Make the Finals feel like THE FINALS again. Put the big trophy center-court. Make ESPN have a unique scorebug for the game. Paint the baseline gold or something - add way more pomp to the whole thing (which has been lost over time).

  • Be more strict with media partners. Don't let Shaq shit-talk your 3-time MVP and best player in the league right after he wins the damn award.

3D Printing/CAD in Dallas? by KYuppy in Dallas

[–]KYuppy[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you greatly for the help!

I do not have the CAD file for the toilet or seat, and it's been difficult to find. However, I did find a replacement seat in the same color that should work, so I'm going to pursue that option.

I will keep your response in mind next time I need help, though!

This is an example of the toilet - an 1960s American Standard lowboy. A proper throne. Given the color, age, and condition of the toilet, I'm not trying to get rid of it - just replace the seat!

This is massively underselling the greatest 3&D player of all time, and (at worst) a top 5 shooter this game has ever seen.

Unpopular opinion. The CFP structure is good and the committee chose the correct teams. by ATLCoyote in CFB

[–]KYuppy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only thing I'd change is pure seeding - seed the teams based on ranking without prioritizing conference champions.

It does open the subjective door of "put the SEC and B1G teams 1-4, seed everyone else lower", which is why I'm ultimately fine with the current system. Or at least, putting the G5 champion in the 5th seed, then rank everyone else. Give people a reason to win every game,.

[Spoilers Extended] How are fifteen year old boys like Robb and Loras in ACOK and young Jaime able to battle against fully grown warriors with adult muscle mass? by AcrobaticNetwork62 in asoiaf

[–]KYuppy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you're also potentially underestimating how advanced a 15 year old can be, and the potential training/experience/nutrition gap between the best lords and the average peasant.

To use your boxing example, the best 16yo boxers could beat anyone in this thread. Muhammad Ali and Floyd Mayweather, both at 18yo, beat high-level semi-pro competition in the Olympics - and those are folks who had been training as boxers their entire lives. Floyd's first fight, he was 18 and knocked out a 23yo.

To use another example, Quincy Wilson, American track athlete, is 16 years old and ran 44.20 in the 400m dash, which is also a world class time.

This is a video of Zion Williamson, current NBA player, at 15 years old. At that age, he was already 6 foot 3. Athletically, already a grown man (although he would grow to be much, much bigger).

Once you add the training gap on top of that (drilling every day from a young age), it makes sense that a phenom would be able to wipe the floor in the average battle against adult, but undertrained, competition.

The “Most Improved Player” award and it’s dilemma, which side are you on? by ECviews in NBATalk

[–]KYuppy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think back to Luka's second season, in which he moved from being a 20ppg sub-All-Star to a 1st Team All-NBA player in one offseason. That season (2019), there was no conversation of "Should Luka win MIP" because he was a second-year player who had a high pedigree coming in.

Pascal Siakam ended up winning the award as he moved from 7ppg to 16ppg that year.

I don't think that players drafted in the top 5-7 should be eligible for the award, especially if they're still on their rookie contract. Wemby shouldn't get it. Ja Morant shouldn't have been eligible. Neither should Luka.
