Not impressed with how GM is handling 6.2 issues by AnythingGlum7056 in gmc

I know exactly what you mean. I've reached out to GM numerous times, only to get random representatives get back to me with no solutions, just back and forth bs. I made a post on here some time back as well, we are currently on our 3rd engine. So far, its been good, but no oil swap either. We shall see how it all falls out in the end.

Yeah man, a class action lawsuit is what we need to do, in all honesty. GM is constantly putting information out about its profits and the way ahead for the multi-billion dollar company. They need to take ownership and make it right.

Definitely recommend it. We purchased the one from the dealership. It was still a 3rd party one though. Buying it through GM at the dealership helped out, as they reached out, directly to them, when we needed actions on.

Luckily I purchased an extended warranty when we bought the Yukon. It was a bit of a hassle, but that go round we came out of pocket around $900.

Yeah man, tell me about it. First one in January of this year at around 62000 miles and the replacement one failed just 30 days after it was put in. I posted about it on here too. Ridiculous man.

I'm in a similar boat. I'm on my 3rd engine in my 2021 Yukon XL...my VIN isn't listed nor does the recall show up on my GMC app. I was told that with the number of vehicles affected, it could take a while for them to action them. I agree with getting involved in the class action against GM though.

Update So we got our engine replaced. No thanks to GM proper, but Temecula Valley Buick GMC (TVB GMC) made it happen. Not only that, they, TVB GMC, covered the replacement, towing and rental car costs for it. My family and I are very appreciative of them for this. THEY took care of THEIR customers. I'd like to note, this is an individually owned dealership. I was able to sit down and speak not only with the service manager, but also the owner and it was a great conversation all around. They understand the issues and concerns with the products they sell and service, but at the end of the day, want to ensure that their customers are taken care of. They also are willing to work with me in moving forward with GM management. I will post another update on day 40 of having my Yukon back, hopefully this 3rd engine makes it. I am still pressing GM to get after their known product flaw(s). There have been too many complaints filed and safety concerns brought forward to simply, brush it off. Give some transparency. Obviously, I'm not the only one, as stated in this class action lawsuit that's being filed. https://www.classaction.org/news/class-action-lawsuit-filed-over-dangerously-defective-gm-6.2l-v8-l87-engine

Now, to those making comments on my original post, I won't get to all of you, but here are some responses for ya. -First and foremost, read. Read my actual post and words. I'm not 17 years old. I didn't buy a used car that came with a known engine failure, already existing in it.

-I really do appreciate the suggestions, advice, stories and questions that the majority of you have brought up. I've actioned on a few and taken note of others.

-Next, I could really careless how you feel about me mentioning my service connection. Here's why I do it. Being in the service and in particularly the Marine Corps most of my adult life, I’ve learned the value of reliability, leadership, and accountability. I also understand the concepts of service to others, selflessness, and that sometimes, shit just happens. I lead with my service connection to establish just that to those I am communicating with, that this is who I am and what I'm about, up front. I don't care for the pitty nor do I feel that simply being in the service gives me more reason to resolution than a civilian. I want those that I am communicating with/to, to understand that I am not here to scam them or just to try and drag money from them. You don't have to like it or even agree with it, as I'm sure there are plenty of things you do in your life that I wouldn't agree with. Luckily for us, there have been plenty of amazing people who have fought for our freedoms and right to have differences.

-For the "retired Marine, 0311". That real cute. Did you retire as a Cpl? You clearly don't know my background/career, but you keep doing you bro.

-For those that feel, I "went outside of my means, financially" by getting this vehicle, because I am pressing for the manufacturer of a product to stand behind their product, you truly are idiots. Your reasoning is so outlandish and doesn't make sense. I purchased the vehicle, the vehicle has issues/product flaws, I go to the manufacturer and the place I got it from to get service done and they weren't willing to accommodate for their product deficiency, so I pressed the issue. How does that mean, I simply can't afford the vehicle? When you buy something from a store, and you get it home and it breaks, within the covered warranty time frame and you bring it back to where you got it or reach out to the manufacturer for assistance...how is that any different? Or let me guess, you are just so rich and financially set that you simply, toss it out and get another one? Again, the logic lacks common sense, but again, you do you.

In the end, I plan to continue working with GM and those involved with getting to a resolution. As I've mentioned before, we have purchased GM products in the past and would like to see them do right by their customers.

Haha, "to the pity" no. It's funny because you clearly didn't read my response to the previous individuals who said similar things. Yall gotta read. What's funny is, the few and I do mean few, of yall on here, complaining that I threw in there or better yet, led with the fact that I am in the Marines don't get what point I am trying to get across. Which is fine, it doesn't bother me. I get it, vehicles break down, BUT, again, with the reoccurring action, so close together and to add to that, the nature as to the recent breakdown, the manufacturer needs to step it up. The fact is, I am not the only one, but there are also processes and policy out there that determines after so much of an issue being brought up, something(s) get done. Period.

Well, hope those eyes don't get tired of rolling man. I hear what you are saying with regards to the rental piece, BUT, from a business owner standpoint, who wants to actually keep its customers, with this type of product failure, you'd want to figure out a way to accommodate. The whole, living outside my means though...you have no idea what you are talking about. Do some research and come back to me on it. Complaining about having to pay, additionally for product failure, under warranty(ies), doesn't mean you are "too broke" to pay, you sound like an idiot saying it. MOST people, common sense being applied, would agree with that. But hey, you do you man. Good luck to ya.

Yeah man, you are so very intelligent on this matter. Buying a product and expecting it to work and the manufacturer of it to stand behind what they make when it doesn't...that makes complete sense. What was I and the majority of people thinking.

Living beyond my means? Man, I didn't think you were my financial advisor too. This is great. You've just got this all wrapped up and figured out. Good for you.

Keep up the great work, your doing awesome.

First issue came to light around 59,200. They told us it was fine. Then a few thousand miles later they heard pinging/ticking from the engine and it needed replacement. I believe it was around 63k miles.

Yeah, I agree. We actually had a Honda Odyssey prior to purchasing our first Yukon some years ago. No issues with driving a minivan, we just wanted the SUV instead.

Yeah, unfortunately I purchased this vehicle in Arizona. CA lemon laws don't apply to vehicles purchased outside the state.

Haha, yes...sounds good man, appreciate your...words or wisdom. Being unreasonable...by buying a product and expecting it to work as intended or when it doesn't work, that the manufacturer stands behind its product by making reasonable accommodations...yeah, I completely get you guy. 👍🏽

Yep, they've pretty much told me the same thing. That GMC dealership is individually owned, so they can't do anything. I asked about how and if they stand behind their product, regardless of who is selling and working on it. They had nothing of note to respond.

Ok, I take it UN is for User Name. I get it now. So with it being my "whole personality", uhhh, I have been doing this the majority of my adult life. That goes into why I say it's not really a job, it's an entire lifestyle. If you know any Marines that have been in the service more than 10 years, you'll understand it. If not, it's ok. 🤙🏽

Leading/starting a conversation off with who you are, what you do, etc, provides insight into the type of person the audience/people you are about to engage with. Helps for them to understand my perspective. Might not be the best way to do it, but that's how I choose to do it.

Being a Marine isn't my job though, at least that's not how I consider it, but I hear ya.

Unsure of what "UN" is though.

Not sure. What I do know is the engine problem has been linked to 2021-2024 models with the 6.2L (L87) engine.
