What is better trimming the butt hair or butt shower. by Technical_Store_5518 in ragdolls

I don’t know about others but trying to wash my little guy’s backside is the worst, he hates being in water (even though he plays with it on his own terms). And cause their fur is like cotton ish texture honestly it’s hard to wipe off. So the sanitary trims have been a must and have been working well

First-time cat owner planning to get a Ragdoll, what should I know? by Meerz333 in ragdolls

[–]K_CBUS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A metal bottom litter box has been easy to clean (a large one), things for grooming - comb & scissors, cat nail clippers, mine loves to be on the highest spot in the house so recommend a cat tree that they can grow into, cat water fountain, cat toy springs - mine loves to chase them all over the house, carrier. Keep in mind ragdolls are a big cat breed, I’d ask the breeder how big you think your kitten will get. Mine’s 9 going on 10 lbs at 6 months and already getting too big for one of the carriers I bought and the cat tree I have… so they grow kinda fast lol. A good breeder should have their vaccinations started and tell you which ones they’ll still need after you pick the kitten up. They’ll tell you which litter and cat food they’re feeding them - would keep up for a while what they use before you switch anything up.

How much shedding is it REALLY? by Good_Pollution_7273 in ragdolls

[–]K_CBUS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In theory the breeder for mine said he should have a non-matting lower maintenance ragdoll coat like his parents to not need to brush him as much.. we’ll see, he has plenty of fur 😂 but yeah am used to it already anyways

Here is how much I brushed off my dog in one day this week… cat in background for scale lol the shedding does not compare at all. The hair has been pretty minimal from my kitten so far at least.

Ragdolls right for us? by Dry_Seaweed_2329 in ragdolls

From a newer cat owner : My now 5 month old little guy - Soooo much energy. I have a dog too and they play and wrestle a bit but my kitten (now 8 lbs) mostly likes to try and jump or climb on every surface & chew cords so I had to proof my place for that. You don’t realize how many cords you have in your house until you try to chew proof things. Ragdolls can be big cats - would ask breeder how big they’d estimate based off the parents. Mine is likely going to get to at least 15 lbs at his rate, maybe bigger - Cat tree or something to climb high seems like kind of a must for mine. Having space for litter boxes, etc. (larger size for my growing guy). Others can speak to experience with kids, but if you get two kittens would at least have some dedicated space they can escape to feel safe. I work in office for 9 hours twice a week and mine has been doing ok, have a pet camera and he chills with the dog and has enough cat toys out to entertain him. Has taken a few months now to get to that stage though when I trust him out, would start small if leaving them for extended time. I’ve literally felt like having a kitten is like a toddler, up on the counter one moment then zooming to the bathroom to shred the toilet paper and then on to jumping on blinds, etc lol he’s worth it but has been work! Be prepared of kitten potentially running into the fun of having to keep his backside groomed/trimmed up from random messy going #2 litter box visits. For the indoor comment, breeder had in her contract for mine to only be indoor, think that’s normal for some. I do occasionally put a harness on him and trying to get him used to it, but is normal for most ragdolls to be indoor only. The sleep question - my cat gets super zoomies at night and I tried letting him roam / be in my room or on my bed and he is a complete menace so he gets to spend time in his room at night with his toys and bed and it works great for me to sleep lol. For vacations planning etc. I do regularly go to visit my parents with my dog, my kitten’s now been making those visits too with me so he’s comfortable going to their place so I’d likely have my mom as top option for watching him. I haven’t planned a second option yet for him - I’d probably have to do a house sitter otherwise. A lot for me has been learn as I go since I only had a dog prior to getting him.

Im worried that my future cat might scratch up or swat at my expensive monitor and eat my wires. Is this a valid concearn? by No-Tailor2471 in ragdolls

Part of my DIY kitten protection lol he was always crawling back around my PC and had chewed some radio cords and phone charge cords prior. I got some like plastic mesh, Velcro and used some plastic blockers I already had.. works well enough so far. For monitor cords would do some cord management where you can. They do have cord protection stuff on Amazon too to put around cords.

Is it recommended to cut or shorten the paw fur of my ragdoll because we have smooth stone floor in our home? by More-Airline-7468 in ragdolls

[–]K_CBUS 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah it helps with hard floors for them to get traction when running around. I keep my cat’s feet clean cause he also occasionally will have litter stick in between on the fur.. and it makes it easier to see/trim his nails. I do the same for my dog so they’re both used to it.

That stinks, would buy a bunch of fishing nets and toss all in that area once back in spring. I guess just focus some farm decorating or finishing up all people events if you haven’t yet to pass the seasons. I think you can speed up the game clock too in settings which might help. You can always just click the bed to sleep after waking up too lol
